The pull mechanic, where one whip pulls the thing towards you and another pulls you towards it? Bah, not to mention the design of the city actively trying to kill you, that newcaster boss, the nightclub level... Ninja Theory shat on everything Capcom ever tried to do with Dante. I sooo hope they make a sequel, and probably will too, given how profitable this game was.
The problem isn't with the gameplay. Nobody minds the gameplay, it's great, I agree. It's the CHARACTERIZATION that we hate. They changed the character design HARD, and we hate it.
No they didn´t. Did you even play it?? The game is a Prequel, and after the final boss fight, it explains how his hair turned white. It´s the same dante, just before his hair got that way. It even did the original series a favor, explaining how he got that look in a cutscene in the end. Fans hated it on a mistaken belief.

The characterization has VERY little in common with the original Dante. In addition to being set in the wrong period in time, Mundus is the final boss in the FIRST game, and has even LESS in common with his reboot counterpart.
Yes, but DMC is a prequel that goes even before Devil May Cry 3. There are prequels before prequels, it happens all the time in Zelda and Metal Gear. The order is DMC, Devil may cry 3, Devil may cry 1, Devil may cry 2. And yes, the end boss is different, but that makes sense too. In DMC, Virgil left to gather armies. Later, he is banished to the underworld when he tries to open a bridge. In the next game, he has become a servant of Mundus, and now is renamed Nelo Angelo. It all makes perfect sense. And yes, of course Dante´s personality is different, he´s a lot younger. Certainly you were different ten years ago, we all were. And it does explain the hair; he gets it literally after beating his brother Virgil. If you beat the game, you saw this.
I just picked up the HD collection caz I wanted to re play them, my ps2 broke ;-; so when I played DMC3 again I realized how much I LOVED it, and honestly not many fans liked it but I honestly did have a blast with 4, Nero was such a sick character to play as xD and I actually liked the combat and thank u for accepting my apology :3

At first I rejected the idea of remaking Dante for the new DMC devil may cry, but when I played this game I was in awe it was non stop action from start to finish, I liked the new Dante way better he's not afraid to say *Fuck you* and keep walking, but I still like the old Dante but new Dante is a beast. I liked the soundtracks as well from combichrist, on the original devil may cry it didn't have much of a soundtrack even though liked *taste the blood*. Honestly I hope they get started on DMC 2 after they make devil may cry 5. But my point is I like the game and don't care what everyone thinks.

DmC? mix feeling. But towards good. in one hand I really like the mechanic and gameplay (admit it, the swordplay, combo and swapping weapon combo is fluid and perfect), though they forgot that gunplay is also important in DMC series. They kinda... forget the guns. Ebony and Ivory is shit in DmC. in other hand, I hate the characters and the story. hell, the overall design isn't that good compared to previous DMC.

kaboom I like this dante too, I wouldn't compare him to the old one since this is a rebooted version hence, a new and entirely different character, DMC 4 was shit, horribly horrible shit but still, no one complain about that Dante (the did say the game sucked but still) REAL Dante is the Dante from DMC 2, since is the grown up one this one while not a fan favorite is merely in the age of the Dante from DMC 3 (which was in chronology the first Dante) so, if they make a sequel out of that version, I say is gonna be a better one (Dante was great in Devil May Cry and awesome in Devil May Cry 2 but people seem to like the Dante from DMC 3 due to his gameplay and personality) Only a real DMC fan knows that the game was kinda lame but not cause of that dante but because it wasn't very good; story wise, gameplay wise, re adaptation of iconic characters from the series like Virgil and that kind stuff, to me, this dante was great and while not in pair to the one from DMC2 or DMC 3, he started growing as a character in the game. (Hopefully, next game is about old Dante or is an older version of this dante)

To me, DMC was a GOOD game. Was it better than the classic Devil May Cry series? No. But DMC was not a bad game by any means.

I think what you are refering as "the new Dante", is just Dante when he was young.
