Jacob: "I wont let you go until you bless me."
Elohim: Here you go, you'll remember this.
Jacob limps the rest of his life. Might look contrary to a blessing by outsiders. Jacob/Israel knows the value of his blessings, though.

I believe the man Jacob had wrestled for the night was in fact Jacob’s self doubt and feeling of unworthiness of God’s mercy, love, kindness, and God’s own safeguarding of him/man. Long story short, he finally found that he had no reasons to doubt God and let go of his own pride in believing he knew better than God

Quite a few times in my life I had only God to hold onto. We always prevail. Sometimes God works in mystery ways. A few times I was upset with God, but I never second guess his ways. I pray and thank him daily for all the wonderful blessings I have. God answers prayers he has for me since I was a child. I hope he has for you as well. God Bless!

I don’t think Jacob showering gifts on Esau was a bribe or meant as a statement of a lack of faith in God. I think instead he was trying to show his brother his state of repentance. He was no longer trying to take from Esau but instead was trying to give as siblings should. It was a statement of repentance, meant to show that he was, in fact, empathetic to Esau’s plight now.
Also, if you have the means to solve a problem yet won’t do it yourself though perfectly capable and instead ask another to do so, doesn’t that instead say that you are talking out of the side of your mouth? Why would God answer a prayer you wouldn’t answer for yourself if you could? So Jacob showed God he was willing to straighten out the situation in as much as he was able which in turn showed God that his request was genuine so that God could do the rest.
This situation reminds me of the story of the person who was caught in a flood stuck on a rock as the waters kept rising up and who prayed for God to save him from it. As a result, God sent three different means for him to be saved from the flood...something like a man with a rope, a boat, and a helicopter. Yet with each time, he replied, “My God will save me” and refused the help. Sadly, he ended up dying in the flood and upon entrance to Heaven he asked God why He hadn’t been faithful in answering his prayers to save him from it? God’s reply was iconic. He told him He had tried to save him those three times, but the man had refused his help every time.
So in essence what I’m trying to say is that perhaps Jacob was of the belief that God had different ways of answering prayer. In fact, my Grandma Erickson used to say to her children, “Sometimes we need to put legs to our prayers.” I think maybe, just maybe, that about summed up Jacob’s attitude: to make amends and/or to try to make it happen if you can. Just sayin’!

Yes I agree 100%! Jacob seems to be doing what he is more as a form of reconciliation💜 not bribery as he's authentically joyful to see his brothers acceptance, ppl don't usually become ridiculously joyful at the acceptance of a bribe BUT they do become greatful & joyful when they are forgiven & accepted hence him humbling himself as calling himself his brothers servant. Ppl offering a bribe also don't find humbling themselves easily. They instead usually remain cocky over the ability to offer such a bribe, flaunting their wealth instead of SHARING it as a means of reparation (as a Tithe was given to the temples as was usually the custom of that time)

This is one of my favorite events in the Bible. Well done on this explanation. I'd like to add an insight I had. I think one of the reasons God wrestled with Jacob, amd did it exactly as He did, was because He knew it would be written in the Bible, and it's a perfect metaphor for our own struggle with God, our faith, and our sin.

You are blessed in the city and blessed in the country. You are blessed going in and blessed coming out. That means you are blessed when things are going your way and blessed when they’re not going your way. You’re blessed in the palace and blessed in the pit. You are blessed when people are good to you and blessed when they’re trying to stop you. Here’s the key: the blessing did not come from people so it cannot be taken away by people.

I believe the output of strength by the manifestation was comparative to Jacob's faith. He didn't fully trust God to aid him nor did he renounce his God. He is at the middle, therefore he is at a stalemate with his God. Should he have submitted and trusted God fully and wholly, God would have overcome him and release him thereafter. Should he have rejected God, he would have released Jacob in frustration and thus abandon him as he has abandoned his faith in God. Just a theory

Now after reflection It makes me think of wrestling with faith in god, I did the same thing one night and ended in a stalemate as well until years went by before I noticed a part of me was gone, as soon as I took a step towards amends I felt the part that connected me to other humans restore in a greater capacity.

Jacob and Esau were (fraternal) twins. We (and the ancient Hebrews) identify the first born in twins as the first of the twins to come out. Fun fact, that's not a universal view. Some East Asian cultures would identify Jacob as the first born. The idea behind this is based on the responsibility of first borns; the twin that comes out second makes sure their twin is born safely first. First borns are generally given and feel more responsibility, or they're expected to. So in this way of looking at birth order, Jacob was the first born.

Its been hurting for years now, and I always walk around with a limp and I'm always stumbling and tripping over myself. I promised to serve him and he said he would bless me. I want him to take away my fears and make it so I can be whoever I want. I have to keep my stubbornness and arrogance in check, and trad my pride and ego for humility and humbleness, and then he said we can stop fighting I just jusy have to fully trust him. Its still hard, and I'm having a hard time with doubt and not having a back up plan, but im determined and I'm resilient. Never give up and never surrender! i have concluded in this passage at the point where Jacob returns home we learn Esau is very wealthy and may likely be the reason for him being welcoming to Jacob, however there's something else that many may likely tend to miss is that although Esau appears wealthy, that is the case from a natural perspective and that the spiritual blessing of the birth is far more valuable, which would be part of his delusion into thinking he was blessed anyway, which may serve as an intended purposes anyway to appease his anger for the sake of Jacob to escape another wicked person to come back home a well planned and good will of the Most High to chosen
16:04 - this may appear to be that just like the Angel in the burning bush, angels are used as a channel for the ALmighty to manifest, and i do believe there are angels of different rank, status, height and strength, as well as intellect, and that a specific angel as to your point was sent specifically an angel that would match Jacob in height and strength
20:00 - this appears to me more the case of even though Jacob got the birth right by trickery he had to prove himself through trials to be worthy of that birth right

My personal interpretation is Jacob was struck with extreme anxiety over the upcoming confrontation & took ill to point of death. Came face to face with God, surviving with a limp & All New Faith... recounted the encounter he had as it felt to him. All alone, body seizing up, praying like he never had before! Broke his stubbornness & his hip.
He holding on to God, like he'd rather die than face his brother, but he was not leave with God that day.

In Christianity, the "Man" is God in the Divine Person of Jesus Christ. A key difference- throughout Jesus' ministry and beyond- was that Believers no longer had to wrestle with Him. They could merely touch His Healing Wings (the corners of His garments) by faith and receive not only blessing, but also healing.. and ultimately, Salvation.

38TH COMMENT I'M EARLY ASFLIP AGAIN 👊. God showed Jacob just what Faith was in allowing him to wrestle with His Angel. I really enjoy the narrator's reading of Bible stories and The Enoch series but I wonder if The Book of Enoch is Scripturally based and accurate. This has nothing to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

      2. God promised the messiah would be in the line of David. Going back to genisis nearly every covenant promised the messiah

  • @KingKatura
    @KingKatura 2 роки тому

My only issue is your saying Jacob (which was later translated into james) schemed to steal Esau's birthright.. That's not really the case first Esau gave up his birthright just because he was hungry and not even starving but hungry, Then he dishonored the most high by telling Jacob give me some of that same "RED" Pottage, red being unrighteous or sinfull and the term for pottage that is used, is actually a offering to the most high. So this happened before the mother schemed for i was the mothers scheme and you can tell jacob was uncomfortable with it and feared the wrath of the most high. Hence why she assured him let any wrath be mine and mine alone. Accept wrath was unseen because Esau gave up his birthright and blasphemed against him, YHWH knew what was to come from Esau and his people in the future so he allowed this to take place, it was so much stolen as it was stripped from him because of what he would do in the future and what he had already done.
Which was prophesied to the mother long before they were born. And as the most high had known that was what was in store for Edom (Idumia) their tribes despise YHWH and everything he stands for along with us. The most high gave us into their hands along with the whole world because that was the worst punishment imaginable outside of ending salvation. That said it remains so till this day, Alexander the great was a direct line of Edom, along with gilgamesh and many others. What profits a man to gain the world but lose their soul. until this day Edom is the only people that the most high says so hates him so much that he in turn hates them and the only that he will destroy utterly for their sins.
That's not to say jacob never schemed he is a man after all. 19:49 Does not the most high say to test every spirit and to not trust everything even angels say? I also understand because we do not know the unseen, and yet i believe i have been shown something that i never thought about seeing, and yet i see it, and i still have trouble completely believing it was from the most high. Because demons can also deceive and can play the role of angels well to lead astray, and sure while with YHWH none can effect you, it is also true like with job that if he wishes to test you, those demons may have reign to affect you.

At Denderah, it is said, that in the ram of Mendes Osiris grew young or reborn in the spring-time like the ram Abram sacrificed for Isaac and as the harlot who escaped with Jason cut the ram in pieces and again restored it to life.
Baby Abraham was also nursed by the goat goddess Amalthea (tender mother). Seems Jupiter swallowed the whole bible.

To me, it's not necessarily about Jacob lacking faith and/or trust in God, but it's about him taking extra protection/precautions by having a Plan B, or even a Plan C as back up. To me, whether or not Jacob fully trusted in God is irrelevant,, because what's wrong with having a Plan B or taking extra precautions? The supposed account of WWE wrestling match between Jacob and God, or even an angel for those that believe that it wasn't God, is total bullshit! What lesson was given to Jacob by an angel lowering his strength to that of a human? To make him THINK that he has the strength to wrestle the divine or supernatural? Why infer that this part of the story was a metaphor? There's no reference saying that all this crazy nonsensical stuff was only in his head. Hey, maybe it really happened where God said, "You want some of me Jacob!" Come and get some!" 😂

So Jacob was always affraid , affraid of his brother , affraid of his father in law. He was affraid of confritation and he didnt have any self confidence. So God wanted to show Jacob that he could be what ever he wanted to be and didnt have to be affraid, cuz come on this was going to be the father of the 12 tribes, we cant have him avoiding every confritation his whole life. So anyway God wants to show Jacob that he is just as tuff as his brother or anyone else he just needed to trust in himself and in God. So God wrestles with Jacob and like it says till morning and Jacob by this point is prob surprised with himself and is gaining confidence, So in the end God toughens Jacob up and gives him a blessing he now deserves and with this new found confidence in himself and a blessing from God he gets a new name as well. Israel !! Which means ( Fighter For God )!! Think about how he must have felt when the Lord gave him a name like that! It changed his whole outlook on life! And when he finally saw Esau he ran and hugged him because he wasnt afraid anymore and finally felt somewhat of his brothers equal instead of a cowering servant. Though he may have trusted in himself a tad bit more than in his God, like you said because of this encounter and the mere touch from Gods finger on his hip, he walked with God the rest of his life...
Anyway thats my take on it...
