We are simply stating that mediocrity is more readily forgiven if you have white skin. There clearly is a bias from beauty standards to academics. 13:18. Firmly agree. Here’s a fun fact about this scandal: According to the motion, Olivia Jade wanted to go to Arizona State and her guidance counselor turned her that direction based on her grades and scores. ASU is obviously a very good school but not good enough for Mossimo and Lori who felt that their precious little angel was too “good” for ASU. I always wondered why Olivia and Bella couldn’t just go to Loyola, Pepperdine, or Fordham. They just wanted to keep up with appearances.
Another fun fact: Olivia didn’t even want to go to college. She wanted to do UA-cam full-time. Her parents were pushing her to go to college despite the fact that she was already making really good money on social media. This entire thing could’ve been avoided had the girls just gone to other schools.
I’m definitely not standing up for Olivia but she’s definitely caught in the middle of her parents’ greed and narcissism. I empathize with her low key but she’s still trash for participating.

Nala 305 I got extra time in High school and I ask if I could in college and they told me it’s possible but I don’t believe I have any disability so when I finally went to college I felt like I didn’t need it. It’s crazy that people who need the extra time don’t know they had the opportunity because it can make their education process better

Ok part of the reason I dropped out of a private school in Texas was 1) that private school tuition was too much for me
    2) This school was RICH rich but the city around was one if the poorest in the state, with people who looked like me :/ I met lots of kids there because whole GENERATIONS in their families went there. I remember one guy said he failed three courses, but wasn't worried about it because his parents would pay for summer school. I got a D and felt so low because I couldn't afford summer school and my scholarship didn't cover it, and it was for my major. I felt so out of place 🙃
Positive side: not everyone was blinded by money though, I met genuine friends and I'm at a state school now

As someone with two learning disabilities it bothers me some much to know that they faked it to get extra time. I have to struggle with every assignment and my daily life because of that.
Also those doctors who wright those letters for people who don’t actually have learning disabilities should have some repercussions. I feel like that’s some sort of HIPPA violation.

Where I’m from, you’re automatically considered an ESL student if English isn’t your first language and that stays on your record for 7 years. So throughout high school (moved here when I was 10), I always got double time for exams and tests. But I never used it because tbh my written English is really good compared some of the people here. Like I literally got honours for English and all (not to brag or anything) but it’s absolutely sickening to see people actually fake that. Like people actually taught I was dumb af because I go extra time and here you have people actually paying for extra time😂

I think Felicity Huffman’s child (the oldest ) is the one that she paid for. I believe she also happens to have a learning challenge and was upset with her mother with doing that she did not know until it came out. I think Felicity was trying to give her kid a push but obviously not the best push - Because I think she said that they did try to get her tutors and whatever so she was diligent and trying her best but it just wasn’t enough so Felicity was desperate. And Felicity already knew it was wrong so she didn’t do it with her second child.

You know, I actually did my social action project on this topic the previous school year and I discovered that those who come from a family that makes more than $630,000 a year are 77 times more likely to get into an Ivy League school than those who come from families who make less than $30,000 a year. Also, I think God sent it that sudden gleam of light in your room to help you preach.

So I got into an ivy that one of my parents went to, BUT my stats were also in the top 25% of accepted applicants (1600 SAT, 800 on both subject tests, 4.2 gpa unweighted, skipped a year in math and got all fives on 6 aps. Plus, was an editor on my schools newspaper, had a job, and was awarded multiple exclusive scholarships for deaf students. I was proud of my essay and proud of my application, in general, which I received no help on). I want to make this clear: just because someone’s parent went to the school, doesn’t mean they didn’t work their ass off to get there. It sometimes bothers me that people make this assumption. That being said, however, I don’t get legacy, either. I’m a firm believer that if you’re not in the range to get into the school in the first place, you shouldn’t go there... especially since you are taking the spot of someone who worked their ass off and DOES have the stats... and selfishly, I wish it didn’t exist partially BECAUSE of the assumptions people make... (P.S. love your channel!)

The worst thing about this is that when other parents who do this ( and don’t get caught) their children can go into medicine. And when a C- average ass person goes into medicine they won’t be able to keep up even if the parents pay their way through college and people can die from being in the hand of a person who isn’t smart enough to be doing the job that they doing

27:33 I don’t know how much extra time you get in the USA, but in England you get 25% extra in everything, in my experience. In my Philosophy and Theology mock earlier this year, I got about 23 minutes of extra time. It doesn’t change depending on the person either - I’ve got dyslexia and I know for a fact that most of the other girls who had extra time either had different forms of dyslexia or different learning disabilities than me, and
we all had the same amount.
