"He comes to me in my dreams/ and tells me that he's alright./ That he's just been hiding out/ somewhere there is no light." One of the best lyrics ever... and the heartbreaking response, "Oh yeah... That'd be nice."
I love how this band can go from a really pop and jazzy sound, to a fraking rock sound and still hold that voice... They are so good!
Yeah!
Cannot mosh tho,.,
True story,..
taranta’s fucked,….
Trade mitch marner
The lyrics in Magnets pt 2 rip me apart. I miss you Markham. Rip.
Look out below
It's coming up for you
It's coming up for all of us
It will swallow us whole
It will dissolve all our bones
[Verse 2]
Don't be scared to
Turn yourself around
No one would blame you
For taking the easy way out
[Verse 3]
He is watching the X-Files again
No wonder he's creeped out
Doesn't trust anyone these days
You cannot protect
That which you cannot control
I lit a candle for you
But somebody blew it out
He comes to me in my dreams
And tells me that he's alright
That he's just been hiding out
Somewhere there is no light
Oh yeah
That'd be nice
[Pre-Chorus 1]
And if you took it back
I wouldn't feel so uncertain
I wouldn't feel so uncertain
[Chorus 1]
That when your body hit the earth
It opened up and swallowed you
She kept you safe in her hot center
And always tucked you in at night
When you woke up nervous
She said, "Baby, you're inside of me
You're safe inside my orange womb
There's no reason to worry"
[Verse 2]
They bought him magnets
To form into different shapes
Small spheres of metal
Always carefully composed
[Pre-Chorus 2]
He's making hexagons
He's making perfect squares
He's making triangles
He's making cylinders
[Chorus 2]
And in the junkyard
A cult of robots screams
They give him orders
Like rabbits from his dreams
They're laying eggs now
And hatching fever spells
It heats him slowly
His blood is thinner now
[Outro]
Things slip sometimes
Things slip sometimes
Things slip sometimes
I wish they had continued on the rock/grunge sound as opposed to trending towards the pop music style they are doing these days (2021)
First time listening to them fuck being a fan I'm a stan.
slothrust opening for highly suspect CANNOT be slept on people!! that is one talented chick right there
Going to see them in Little Rock in October! Second time seeing HS, but totally looking forward to seeing this band jam along
+Nathan Blakely I got tickets for Asbury Park, NJ in November.Got into Slothrust through a friend right before purchasing a ticket without realizing they were the openers. So excited!
Tonight!
METLMayhem fuck yeah man have an amazing time it was a great show
This is a very talented band, unfortunately though, they are anything but "normal" for today's pop scene. Now, given You're The Worst's assistance with providing slothrust a larger audience, we might find them one of those underknown, heartbreaking, indy darlings in the next decade. . .
Melancholy was always my favorite sound.
Also gotta point out that the bass player is crushing it
Yes, absolutely!
He's done. Dude was accused of very bad things.
Brings back that 90s groove, but in a way that isn't a retread. God, I love this band.
I have to say she is currently my favorite female guitarist.
chris weaver check out St. Vincent aka Annie Clark. I bet you’d dig it
Hay baby is a solid contemporary punk ish artist you might like too
Erika of Heartless Bastards also shreds
Okay Leah is officially on my list of guitarist to meet.
I'm so in love with this band
the sound on this live performance as absolutely exceptional.
like. come on.
I like it better than the actual recording
still love slothrust!
This is one of my top bands now, great tunes.
I love Leah. She's a great writer and has a killer voice. Love her style, she's a babe.
Everything I have found by these guys is amazing. I first heard Crockpot at a friends party a few towns away from me, but I didn't really start getting into Slothrust before You're The Worst, and my life started feeling like a long version of their songs.
Their music is so beautiful..
probably my favorite songs of all time ❤
Pleasantly surprised, and I say that after watching this since I've yet to listen to anything else from this band. I look forward to getting to know this band better. Fantastic stuff!
Seriously..... Totally bingeing on you guys right now!! Soooo thankful to my homey Pat for introducing me, I'm your newest fan!!!!
Wow! Music is still good.
impeccable timing
bass player goin in!
So I know that's not metal or anything (and I'm a progressive metal (animals as leaders) fan), but that is the hardest of hard core songs ever written and performed. I know I'm super late to the party but I can't stop listening to this performance. I have an aversion to (maybe a phobia) anything involving pregnancy or wombs, but man, those lyrics combined with the music have so much impact. It's so powerful musically and lyrically. I just love it.
Good Slothrust Song and so Catchy. I love their Overall Sound all 3 musicians and the Girl Singing and Playing the Electric Guitar has such good Skill and Guitar work.
Ok I've listened to this about 15 times today and I gotta say this is absolutely fucking brilliant. All of it. Looking forward to seeing you guys at sxsw.
My new favorite band (:
What a beautifully designed song. It would be amazing to see live
Watching someone you love
lose their mind.
Woah, woah, woah. This is excellent.
She may be using a woah woah pedal.
i love this band
Some of this band's compositions remind me of Zepplin in how they tend not to adhere to boundaries. I fuckin LOVE this band.
So sad I missed these guys in Detroit this year....
august 7th at the crofoot mang. shall be magical
The best performance, love it
wow i love this. and i love lagunitas. about to crack one open.
Juliana Zlatevski Best beer

JITV does such a great job on all their stuff. Great place to listen to Slothrust!
A friend of mine just showed me this band and now I’m spreading it like COVID-19, cause it’s sick as fuck.
So can't wait to see this band at the Cannery in Nashville with Highly Suspect. I'm sad I haven't heard of them before now.
Stunning. That's it.
muito bom! keep it real and simple heart
Damn so good. What talent!
ROCK YEAH!
i remember where i was when i found out slothrust's singer was a woman. i love her so much.
Great band. Nuff said!
So good
Aguante Slothrust! Saludos desde Argentina.

I would agree
Класс!!

i wish they could play this just for me in my bedroom
Come to Oregon already haha
Ian I really like your profile pic
Well, thanks!
What have I found?!
welcome, you are home.
+Pascus Rex Haha! Your comment!
😮
best 3 man band ive ever heard
the bassist looks so much like Kurt Vile
Anyone get Kurt vibes from Leah?
Maris Tyler none at all
Maris Tyler Absolutely!
+Daniel Mars When I saw them live I couldnt believe how much she reminded me of Kurt. I met them after the show and she is just one cool chick. Has such a strong, dark presence on stage but is seemingly goofy and shy in real life. Leah is someone I will always remember
Maris Tyler Dude, that's an awesome interaction! Where'd you see them?
Daniel Mars House of Independence in Asbury Park, NJ. They opened for Highly Suspect back in November. The whole band was so cool and real and the show was amazing
While waiting for Rig Rundown to discover you, what guitar is that you're playing?
+slimturnpike Looks like a Fender Jaguar to me, not sure if the pickups are standard though.
Nate Weston brought me here.
Anyone know what this song is about?
Jocelyn Edwards the song is there for you to listen to and interpret in your own way.
@@SonikJesus i read an interview where Leah said it was about her old roommate in 2011 named Jack who killed himself
Leah is unreal
Give some to the drummer. Damn.
wollte vorhin was posten ,,,,, wurde sofort geblockt ,,,,,, war nur ne meinung ......... danke ..... gut zu wissen ,m,m,m,m
This band is much better than Highly Suspect
What do you like better about them
@@fishfur9530 Leah Wellbaum's understanding of music theory and her pure raw talent at guitar are what elevate this band above for me. Their timings are complex, the music stylings are unique and often blend metal, blues, and punk and at other times defy classification. I like Highly Suspect but they are honestly radio friendly grunge. Nothing wrong with that. Slothrust is something special. Every member of the band has a true understanding of their instrument. They don't sound like other bands. They sound like Slothrust. I could keep doting on the amazing talent of this band but your time would be better spent listening to their music. Thanks for the reply!
@@nping2001 I agree. Highly Suspect is pretty good, I especially like the song Lost, but Slothrust is in another league. I've been consumed by Slothrust's music for a long time now, enough that people would think I have a problem. Maybe I do, but that's OK. Anyway, I haven't found many fans who know enough music theory to discuss the intricacies of their music. It seems like you know some music theory, do you have any favorite musical moments like chord progressions, time signatures, or note choices in their songs?
@@fishfur9530 I would pay attention to Leah's lead riffs.....specifically on the Everyone Else album. Instead of shredding she weaves in unique melodys. The song Pigpen, which is one of my all time favorite rock songs is a great example of her chord changes and lead guitar styling. It's good to know I'm not the only one that appreciates this band!
@@nping2001 Everyone Else is my favorite album by them. I love Leah's playing in Pigpen, especially her addition of the flat 5 note (D) to add dissonance to the chords. I also like how the pentatonic riff at the end of each chorus is folky. She plays with mixing the ionian and lydian modes which is interesting... she even throws a mixolydian chord in there at one point. There's a lot of major and minor switching. There're elements of jazz, blues, roots, and punk all in that one song. My other favorites off the album are Mud, Sleep Eater, Like a Child, and Horseshoe Crab, but the whole album is great: an honest, experimental, zany journey that's unfortunately lumped into the grunge revival scene by many. Thanks for the insight.
