- It feels great to get back out on Cold Lake to chase some Lake Trout to start of 2021! The lake trout sure were hungry and chasing tubes up and down the water column. If you are heading out stay safe as the ice conditions are continually changing.

You have awesome videos!!!! Keep it up 👍 🇨🇦
Thanks dude👊👊
Great videos, subscribed
Thank you sir!
Love the vids, especially the ones with the Active Target. Very cool but also very expensive. Thanks for making the videos.
I will 100% be trying to film some more active target very soon before the season ends!
Awesome video, great to watch and learn,
The cold lake fish derby is going to be epic can’t wait.
Ahh man I can not wait for it!
Just getting ready to leave also, good luck today
Do you need a sled or quad to get out far enough or will walking do? Looking to get out there this coming winter, but don’t have a sled yet.
you can get out walking there’s lots of places I’ve walked out and caught some really nice fish! Marina, Provincial Park Point, French Bay, English Bay are a few great starting points that are accessible walking from the launches
Nice fish, do you have to move around alot too find them or are they just in one spot?
Depends on the day sometimes you spend the time locating other days you just end up on them and don't have to move much at all. No sense waisting time if the fish aren't there
@@weaversbentrods How long have you fished cold lake bro?
@@albertapikewalleye6833 Over 10 years now
@@weaversbentrods Nice ive always wanted too fish that lake lol. Maybe if I head up there we can go an you can show me the ropes✌
Dreaming of cold weather too! Awesome video man!
Thick ice would sure make life more convenient!
@@weaversbentrods Ha-HA! This is true.
cool video buddy!! any advise of where i should go out there lake is so big and just learning how to use a helix gps so finding structure is difficult. and can you catch lakers in 30 or 40 ft? thanks
strait out from the marina in 80-100ft is a great spot or even over to the provincial park point. You can catch lakers up that shallow but generally speaking you will want to be in the 80-100ft zone for more consistent action
Thank you...loving your videos...highly impressed and so jelly...tight lines buddy!!!
Another great Weavers Bent Rods video. Thank you Mat for sharing your lake trout fishing adventures with us.
Thanks for watching hopefully see you out there some time!
Damn, looks sick out there bud
One of my favourite fisheries hands down!
beautiful fish my friend show 😁👍👏
Always a blast out chasing lakers on early ice!
Do u know how much ice is in cold lake this season Nov 9 2022??????? I can’t find any info anywhere
Haha still wide open got at least another month to go!
Thanks for walking us through your setup! Going for some giants this weekend for the first time. Hoping I can land em as easy as you make it seem lol
Matt is the king of this laker fishing with a flasher summer or winter, lots of educational stuff in his vids
Well good luck out there maybe see you around!
I just got to use the lowrance active target for the first time today.. Boy times are changing...
Great video, was starting to think you were MIA
Pretty disapointing eh.. Oh well back on the ice and hopefully more videos to come this winter
Really need to get there some day. Thanks for the vid, well done
It's a great fishery highly recomended!
What a day! Awesome video, I loved the sonar shot where we can see the fish chase and you setting hook. Well done sir!
Nothing beats watching a laker chase up like that.
Great vid man! Can't wait to head up!
Hopefully see you out here this year!
totally impressive day brother. I love Laker fishing and can't wait to get myself back out to Georgian Bay to target them. New SUB and hope like heck I can catch you back.
Laker fishing is my true passion. I'll go check out your channel! Tight Lines!
SWEET I was waiting for a cold lake video!
About time I know... Hopefully lots more to come this winter!
Nice man!! Love your vids. Subscribed! Just made a bunch of Ontario lake trout vids myself!
Thanks dude! I'll have to check them out
Nice job how much snow you got out there now after this storm
word is a foot of snow from the winds
Looks like a lot blew off the lake but lots of drifts over the heaves hiding them and the flood water....
Hey awesome video!!
Just wondering what kind of flasher you are running??
Helix 7 Ice. Wait until my next upload I may have got a new sonar.... and its pretty crazy
what Weight tube are you using to get down 80 feet
I use anything from .5oz to 2oz. Just depends what kind of presentation I'm after
what changes in your presentation to go heavier? Need it to fall faster? They are less aggressive, go smaller? Thanks for the knowledge
You got it exactly sometimes a slow fall time is nice for them to pick it up. Less aggressive is better to be on the smaller side "most times". Thats the fun about fishing is everything changes each day and you have to adapt to come out with a successful day.
Man you make it look easy! I try and make a trip every winter and stay on the lake for a few days. Always a struggle lol. I try different tubes, different parts of the lake, different structure and depths, finding the bait fish. Any tips? 😂
Just bounce around eventually you'll stumble on something! Had many slow days out there until something comes together
