- This year we went to the annual Kanazawa Hyakumangoku parade! We had a ball. The Hyakumangoku Festival [百万石祭] in Kanazawa is Ishikawa's biggest festival of the year, and takes place over three days with a number of events - this being the main event of the weekend and takes place on a Saturday. We got to join the Seiryo University [星稜大学] Dance Group in the late afternoon/evening parade - how cool was that?! #foreignerinjapan , #japan , #japaneseculture , #ishikawa , #japanlife , #japantravel , #japanfestival , #星陵大学 , #hyakumangoku , #kanazawa , #japanesedrums , #japanesedrum

楽しそう❤日本は、平和だなあ。いつまでもいつまでも。続きますように。日本人で良かった♪可愛子、若い人からたくさん、
元気を頂きました。ありがとう。😊高齢者。
Cool just isn’t enough to describe this. The rhythmic beating of the music and especially the drums can be felt in my very soul. Great just that great.
Nothing better than deep resonating drums. They move people.
Such a happy little girl! You're a very fortunate man. This whole event is beautiful.
Thank you so much! I am very fortunate indeed 🙏
I ADMIRE THE JAPANESE PEOPLE AND THEIR CULTURE I REMEMBER THE SAMURAI WARRIORS THIS GREAT CULTURE LIVES ON
Ho visto ONDEKOSA, in Italia.É indescrivibile la forza di questi tamburi...
I'm a native American I love it
🙏Amazing! Thank you for sharing!🙏
Thank you for watching! So glad you enjoyed it 😃
Hubby and I were in Tokyo in November 2023 for 5/days. We are both looking forward to going back again soon. We love Japan, the people, the temples, shrines, among many, many things!💋❤️
Tokyo is awesome, but the rest of Japan has SOOO much more to offer that is so different from the city. Tokyo is very unique in that way, while the rest of Japan could have you spending many months traveling around to experience all of the many wonderful and diverse places the country and it's various regions has to offer. Do come back!
So amazing that we can see this. Can you imagine decades ago where we wouldn’t see this and now we take it for granted. Amazing
This is why I am here,go hard young ones.
this should be always happen all over the world " happiness" especially among young people, it's so fun to watch children happy and enjoying themselves🥰
Good to see.i love Japan and culture. Thanks Jay Jagannath.
nice all time of live
Such happy people, celebrating with the children, this is what a happy life looks like.
Indeed! One of the especially fun things about the evening parade is that you literally have people of ALL ages taking part; young and old - and having a lot of fun together!
Another reason I love Japan and it’s beautiful people. All ages enjoying the festivities.
Similar to Buganda culture of Uganda where drumming is a major event.
the same song played by the incas, mayans, aztecs, cherokees, zulus, so we come from the same boat🤗
I LOVE Japan. So many festivals in the summer! Fireworks in Japan are amazing! And it's in July-August! The synchronization among the drummers are incredible!
Seeing so many young people honoring their cultural heritage is amazing
Exactly what struck me about it, you have kids, teenagers, 20’s, 30’s, all ages!
Some people, like the Japanese, have plenty of reasons to be proud of their culture, others do not. Not all nation are equal in this regard.
Is wonderfull. I respect ❤❤
Young Westerners are never proud of their culture ,the only thing they worship is TikTok 😂
@@lenamonroe4130 you are right, we are witnessing the pinnacle of human civilization being demolished by backward cultures. It is a great tragedy.
What an Amazing, Wonderful Tribute‼️
I Love ❤️ Japan 🇯🇵 ‼️🥰
Thank you for your kind words ☺
vielen dank für diese schöne präsentantsion
Nobody there to watch the parade because everybody was in it 🤣
Absolutely beautiful festival!!!
Even us!
@@KASUMINaturals
Yes!! Lol
Looks like it was lots of fun.
Wish I was there!
Thank you for your message ❤️
Mesmerizing. I deeply love the sounds of drumming. I found this quote, I don't know if it's applicable but it does express a sense of what is felt maybe too poetically for me, but still. “Each beat of the drum has to go deep. It has to arouse in the audience a boundless feeling, stretching back through time. What I am pursuing is a sound that embodies Nature, one that is both awe-inspiring yet serene” - Eitetsu Hayashi
That's really beautiful....thank you for posting. I'm going to write it down to share later.
I love percussion, and good music....I'm also an old dancer....I love dancing more than almost anything! So, thank you for such a lovely quote. God bless you! 💜🕊💜
It's wonderful! It amazes me that so many people/dancers are wearing same kimono/uniform - it must cost a lot. Japan is so rich, culture wise as well as financially!!
Rich cultural history, yes, but not necessarily so rich financially these days (nothing like 20-30 years ago!). Lack of wage growth for well over the past decade, along with a sharp increase in inflation over the past year, and a very weak Yen-to-USD (lowest in about the past 30 years right now), has made things very difficult for a LOT of people in Japan now, unfortunately.
Incredible. I can imagine the goosebumps witnessing this live.
All so beautiful, so clean, so much tradition given in a short time by the common people of Japan. I wish I could attend.
Amazing these people. Just brilliant!
This video is just amazing! The Hyakumangoku party in Kanazawa will definitely be an event to get on my bucket list. The tradition, music and colors of the participants' clothes are simply stunning. I am sure that this party is an unmissable experience for anyone visiting Japan.
There are SO many wonderful festivals in Japan, it's hard to say which is "the Best", but definitely Kanazawa (and the Hyakumangoku Festival) is more than worth a visit! Easily reachable from Tokyo (Shinkansen) and also from Osaka - so many other festivals to visit though as well! Enjoy your travels :)
@@KASUMINaturals Thank you :D
👏👏👏👏👏♥️🇯🇵♥️ Cultura! Música, Arte,... Obrigada!
Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of your heritage ! I love the history of other countries.
I started to watch for the drum group's performance - and I'm so glad I watched to the end. Well done as the happiest group.
Great! Thanks for watching to the end, haha 😃👍
This is one of the BEST festivals I’ve seen. The spirit and energy transfer through the screen. Powerful.
This festival is wonderful!! If you have a chance, please come and visit Kanazawa in June😘
最後の盆踊り、なつかしい!。子どもの頃、毎年踊ってました。楽しかった❣️
盆踊り楽しいですよね! 私達は初めて参加しましたが、また参加してみたいです🥰
Sensational... here in my city (Cascavel/Paraná/Brazil) there is a Japanese colony and an excellent taiko group!
Wow, of all places! I know there is a large Japanese immigrant population in Brazil (hence the creation of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!), so that is great to hear. I traveled to Brazil in 2008 for Carnival in Rio, wanted to get to Iguacu Falls (Foz de Iguacu) but didn't make it - instead I went to Salvador, what a party!!
Fantastic people ❤ what a beautiful way of honoring your culture ❤ South Africa 🇿🇦
This is one of many great festivals all over Japan the citizens of the World should go and visit and feel the excitement of these festivals its a great experience especially the rythm sound of numerous Taiko Drums
A wonderful video. Thanks for capturing all the various performances.
WOWJapan has an amazing history and it is wonderful to see so many people and young people keeping there cultural heritage alive.
Totally agree - this is not always the case, even in Japan, but this festival is one where all ages take part, really awesome!
My father was in the Air Force and married my Japanese mother in the late 50s only to return once more in the early 70s because of mom and that he LOVED Japan. And I fell in love with Japan too. Three years on Kyushu and the last year near Tokyo. The damn festivals were amazing. The temples were amazing. It was amazing to look at centuries old Japan via the Emperor’s palace and then do an about face and see one of the most modern cities in the world (at the time). I’ll never forget Japan. Thanks to dad I’m a world traveler. Lived in sub tropics (Kyushu Japan), the desert (Laughlin AFB near Del Rio Texas) and the arctic (Elmendorf AFB near Anchorage Alaska). I was lucky being an armed forces brat. Even survived the great Alaskan earthquake
Cool! Some great experiences there, global travel is my television, haha! Keeps me entertained 😉Have yet to get to Kyushu, but will get there for sure eventually!
Sadly though the population is on the decline. The Japanese culture is very unique and needs to be preserved for their future generations. 🤞 that they will prevail for generations to come..
So wonderful! I got goosebumps watching this. Awesome! I would love to se this in person!
There are US universities that have drum line challenges between each other. However, this is entirely different, more colorful and creative .
I had a chance to see this show 32 y.ears ago in Toronto a absolute fantastic historical entertainment
Impressive and beautiful!! Thank you for sharing!!
Now these are the kinds of war drums I love. Big, burly, and full of bass.
Parabéns pelo seu trabalho em divulgar conhecimentos maravilhosos Cultura linda e abençoada japonesa 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Muito Obrigado!
Thank you so much for bringing a part of the world I have never seen!! 15:07 And learning different cultures too! Very cool that the “horo” kept arrows from hitting their target. And no matter what country you come from, horses are always last… LOL! from Ohio 🇺🇸
Thank You!
I already know why I spend my entire vacation in Japan every year. Great people, incredibly delicious food, the whole culture is terrific. If I could, I would immediately emigrate to Germany and immigrate to Japan. 🙂
Let me guess, your responsibilities to the band (Pearl Jam) get in the way, perhaps? 😆
Thank you so much for sharing this amazing piece! I’ve seen KODO several times in the Netherlands. Goosebumps all over the place! Very special to watch all those tradtions !
USA HERE, this is amazing, beautiful and seems so patriotic of these folk culture! Bravo!❤
Thank you! We will be featuring some more Japanese festivals in videos coming soon!
I saw this at Disney many years ago when Disney was still Disney( the drums ) and it was absolutely spectacular it moved me to my soul.😢 But seeing everything come together like this is absolutely beautiful😊
Great comment, so glad you enjoyed the video!
Epcot, Japanese pavilion, amazing.
I visit Kanazawa during the spring cherry blossom 2023 . This is one of the best prefecture in japan , the Kenrokuen garden , the alpine road and the Shinagawa village… . I❤japan . Amazing rich culture country and amazing peoples .

i remember perform with my Taiko club, Kaga Honen Taiko on that exact same spot, and exact same matsuri.

18:38 Y’all did an AWESOME JOB!!❤ Again thank you for sharing!! from Ohio 🇺🇸
Yes, those guys (at 18:38) were good fun!
Hi ,the little ones made me cry with happiness wish I could have been there myself.😁🌺 Lorna in Newcastle UK.🇬🇧
Молодцы японцы, свято хранят народные традиции и обычаи, не то что у нас шоубизнесные труселя!
Amazing! Drums seem to be found in so many cultures around the world.
The TaiKo drums were actually used to determine village sizes. The boundaries were decided by how far the drum could be heard… the bigger the drum, and better the drummer, the more land would be allotted to the village.
Wow I didn't know that,Thank You for your knowledge
@@lornaburgess9762 I saw the Kodo Drummers of Sado when they were in Toronto. I think some of this info came from program notes!
Wow, have never heard this, thanks for the info! Can you recommend any books/sources in which I could read about this further? Thanks from Japan!
@@KASUMINaturals I have to admit, that I don’t know of anything specific. Perhaps a general history of drumming will refer to this. Again, I think I got the info from program notes from a concert of the Kodo Drummers.
Woow
Grande honra e gratidao pela minha ascendencia japonesa🙏❤
Você deveria vir e visitar o Japão algum dia!
Wow they love whats thier doing to thier country. Arigato❤❤❤🎉

Wow that’s so amazing! ❤ I wish we had more events like this in all the countries around the world, bringing everyone together in love and joy - it would definitely make the world a better place
The Drums were awesome, the costumes magnificent. Love traditions of Japan.
Attended a similar festival in Misawa-shi a few years back. An awesome experience.
Can you imagine a ship. Coming through the mist. Drums like these. Pounding, louder and louder. As impending doom approaches.
😂😂😂
一糸乱れぬバチさばき。協調性の素晴らしさは、日本人ならではですね。日本古来の芸術は、ずっと、続きますように。
Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with us! ❤ What a wonderful exciting day 🤗💕
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Fátima . trabalho perfeito organização parabéns 🙏 obrigada 🇧🇷 boa tarde
I grew up going to a Japanese Methodist church that always celebrated Japanese heritage. My favorite memories were of the Taiko druming. I hope to travel to Japan some day to see this festival and meet my relatives!
The well muscled young men....swoon!
Took my students in 1999.....Amazing culture and people! Gion Matsuri Festival in Kyoto is amazing as well.
Thank you for the recommendation! We must go!
What a beautiful family you have! THIS is what hold Japan together despite everything people are going through, it’s tough but we WILL smile through it like we’ve always done!
Just standing in front of 10 of them you get blasted by the power that the instruments make so I cant imagine what it would be like standing in front of hundreds of them
I love to know about other countries Coulter heritage, it's so interesting thanks for this clip!
As a highly trained drummer, and carpenter. These drums take it to another level. In the old days the sticks could be femurs. Lol
日本🇯🇵平和、金沢平和、日本人幸福🩵 Big thanks for sharing this festival with whole wide world. Really enjoyed this footage💕
Thank you! So glad you liked it!
Thank you for such great, personfal cinematography ... I felt like I was right there enjoying the moment. So beautiful ... but that little Kasumi stole the show: The most adorble Princess of the Day!

I'm sure the Legendary Spear Maeda Toshiie is very thankful to have his people continue to commemorate his life and what he did for the people of Japan. Keep revereing your legends Japan! It is and will always be a great honor!
Indeed! 👍🏻

C’est pire que les tambours du Bronx! je kiffe carrément! Merci de ce partage.
I have been lucky enough to enjoy two live Taiko performances in my life.
One in Japan, although not as large as this one.
And one in America, which was even smaller. But I enjoyed just the same.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed the video!
