Man it is HEARTBREAKING that Ray passed away. :/ Baylan is one of the best characters we've gotten in years and I wish he was alive to see all this love. RIP 🖤
I’d argue he’s the most “starwars” feeling character we’ve had since Disney 😔
For real man. His performance in this show is awesome! I absolutely love Baylan and want more.
cant believe we finally get a new great character and the actor dies...
Ive literally just said the same thing to my son
i totally agree
Baylan’s character greatly reminds us of Dooku. He is an individual thinker like both Dooku & Qui Gon.
yes! Those are by far my favorite characters because they dont just follow the "good" or the "bad" side, they stand for what they themselves think.
@@ciggyroachAnd you will see were that leads them. Wait for it. Baylen forshadowed it.
I was hoping we learned a bit more about his time with the Jedi at this point. Perhaps that is coming.
But I think he has to come from that same tree of Jedi somehow. Dooku was independent, his apprentice Qui Gon was independent, Obi Wan defied the order in a sense and trained Anakin, and Ahsoka left the order... Skoll has to be in that tree somewhere
Seems like a Obi Won type sacrifice coming, that's his redemption arc.
What power on Peridea does Baylan sense I wonder? I’m hoping Bendu makes an appearance. Maybe he’ll take Ahsoka and crew back home.
This is EXACTLY what we wanted in the sequel trilogy. This episode alone had more worldbuilding in 30 minutes than the entirety of the 3 movies.
Because “Girl Power” killed the whole sequels
What?!
Those movies had world building!
The first order came from somewhere, Snoke was someone, somehow Palpatine returned and then some people did some stuff!
That’s lots of world building! (If you read all of the books, comics, play the video games and buy all of the supplemental material because that’s obviously much better than being in the movie itself!)
Obvious sarcasm… just to be clear.
@DanteYewToob don't forget the young orphan protagonist that grew up on a desert planet and has exceptional talents due to who she is despite always feeling like they were never relevant, and then they meet Han Solo, Chewbacca and Leia while facing off against the masked fallen hero from the skywalker line before destroying their planet destroying space station!
What world building do you need. There's been so many Star Wars movie and show the world is fully fleshed out. Just copy and paste the plot replace a few names add in a quest for a McGuffin and Jedi vs the dark forces and voila refried beans but this time with girl boss.
Not sure people would buy there's another galaxy now.... and witches. And space whales. There'd be a lot of eye rolling! Cartoon fans go crazy for it, but not sure the mass movie going public would be as keen.
My current theory is that Baylon wants Ezra.. and that’s why he’s helping them and made a deal with Sabine. Ezra is the only known person alive who has been to the world between worlds, affected things and made it back alive.
I believe he knows about this somehow and wants access to that power… because he said some very interesting things like looking for the “beginning” and stuff like that. Perhaps he justifies all of the bad he does by saying that he can undo it all eventually once he succeeds.
It sucks to know Ray passed away. Baylon Skoll is such an awesome character
Yep, the more the show goes on the more i understand how big of a character he is. Not just a throw away villain for one episode, like Marrok.
Even tho sadly i think he dies in the end of this season.
@@EternalKvK Well, he kind of has to die, since Ray isn't with us any more... Such a shame, Skoll is such good character, RIP Ray.
Who says Ray died? No mention of that in the show.
@jonfreeman9682 ray Stevenson died.
@@aaronforsythe8556 oh you mean the actor? I thought you were all talking about girl boss Rey who's getting her own show. That is so sad. He is a great character as a bent Jedi having self doubts. Hopefully the show honors him with a redemption arc turning back into a good Jedi.
I love the contrast between Thrawn's return and Ezra's. Thrawn's is big, bombastic, with grand music and a whole entourage. It's prideful. Ezra's is calm, tranquil, with serene music and a friend. It's humble.
It's quite the story
I fucking hate ezra
I think what Bendu was saying to Thrawn about the “many arms surrounding him in a cold embrace” was the purrgil tentacles wrapped around him when he was captured in Rebels.
yea I think he said your defeat not death too right.
I’m pretty sure that was confirmed in the Rebels finale as well.
I loved the tone of this episode so much. It was so dark, morose, eerie. Filoni and team managed to really give this the isolated feeling of a new and mysterious galaxy and I want more
So far, this series is what the sequel trilogy of movies should generally have been.
this show should’ve been the first movie of the sequel trilogy
100%. It is so badass.
Agreed. I like 'villains' who I feel compelled to know more of and borderline sympathize with. I think that's why a lot of us really love Baylan and Shin in this series.
Wisest thing I’ve heard this year
To be honest with you I feel like this is the sequel trilogy they just can’t say that. They knew how much we didn’t like sequel trilogy and how much of a mess they made of it so they’re giving us this instead which in theory if you look at legends this time period is where we would have all said a sequel trilogy would take place. I’ll be classing this as the sequel trilogy and then the Ben solo/first order stuff is the sequels to the sequels. I still find it incredible that they just had this ready made empire with a bad guy in charge of it and through us in the deep end like that with the sequels.
I agree. It’s an adaptation of the first actual spiritual “sequel” heir to the empire. It would’ve been perfect. Then we could have had luke appear too instead of exile himself and attempt to kill his nephew cause he had a naughty dream.
Did you notice how uncomfortable Baylan looked when they said "It reeks of Jedi"? Makes me think, at some level, Baylan still has his Jedi roots.
He did say he liked the idea
for me baylan isnt the typical sith, more off a fallen jedi. i do think he is "good" but similar to anakain, has his doubts with the jedi order as it was. right now one of the most interesting charakters
I thought there was going to be a twist
I think he is more of a jedi then sith by far. He has strayed a long way from the jedi code, however he is further away from being a sith. Amazing charachter
@@JollyRoger1337Baylan is not even slightly a Sith. He doesn't use any Sith technique and he doesn't use Sith philosophy. He's a dark jedi
It's really unfortunate that Rey Stevenson died. I want Baylan to continue having a big role in the show. I also just think he did a FANTASTIC job
Yes it has been a terrible loss in the world of cinema...💔
I hope whoever they choose to reprise his role will do him & his character justice 🙏
@@AceCmbatguy25I think they’re just gonna kill him off before S2, like how they killed off Tchalla when Chadwick Boseman died
Just give Sean Connery some stilts
the actor that played Ser Davos in GoT would be a good casting
@@silenthill4 aye bruh i hate to break it to you
The actors playing Thrawn and Ezra did an excellent job in this episode consistently portraying the characters as we knew them from Rebels. Speech and mannerisms were spot on.
No they didnt 😂 thrawn was terrible , exuded zero threat and was so incompetent he gave sabine a blaster and lighsabre right in front of him , given if filoni could actually write would have eneded him there and then
And the whole ezra scene was cringe AF !
I thought the big moment of Sabine finding ezra was shitty. He’s been alone with hermit crabs on a shitty planet for however long and she’s just fucked over the galaxy to be able to be with him and they basically just said wow it’s so cool you found me and looked at eachother awkwardly
@@guruj8827 agree it seemed awkward but what would they do when seeing each other after all that time. Seemed like the most realistic reaction. They probably wouldn't know what to do with themselves. Also couldn't do too much as it was the end of the episode.
@@mccleandazza4618 possibly due to him being an older and lost his touch a bit being in exile? Not going to be as razor sharp/confident as he once was. I just saw that the actor is the voice actor from Rebels. The Sabine thing is clearly a setup, seems like something Thrawn would do.
@@tcgchase6323 behave any normal or capable kind of writing would of had them run into an embrace !
But it's the norm for filoni and Kennedy who have zero emotion
Gurantee if it was a dude looking for ezra disney wars would of had them broke back mountaining within minutes 🤣
It's a shame that Ray Stevenson passed away. Baylan is absolutely the most interesting part of this whole show! I'd rather see a whole series just following his character.
Baylan would've been a PERFECT live action version of Jorus/Joruus C'baoth!
We learned in Mando that cloning is a thing in these post Empire times
Yeah, that's very sad and also sad for StarWars universe, let's hope that they finished what they planned with him in time and he won't be missing in next season which they would have to solve somehow and destroy originally written story.
He is the one who could carry this Filoni movie. Let's face it. How underwhelming would be if Thrawn is the big bad of that movie? One we know is doomed to fail because the sequel trilogy happened and no one even mentions him. It will be just a movie about how the avengers (Boba, Mando, Grogu, Ezra, Sabine and Ahsoka) will beat him AGAIN! God's have mercy. Some of these characters may actually die trying to stop Thrawn to at least trying to give some emotion. But their time has come to an end. Most of them ressurected or escaped certain doom like 2 or 3 times, Someone please kill them already. We know by the time of sequels they are all useless.
It's unfair what happened to Ray Stevenson. Baylan Skoll is such an interesting character and last night during every one of his scenes all I could think about was the fact that Ray isn't here anymore. He can't see all the praise people have for his performance and for his character. RIP Ray Stevenson.
Stevenson's Baylan adds a gravitas to the story that is immeasurable. Without him, even with Thrawn's appearance, Ahsoka would not feel the same.
@@tomradcliff6859 I think this might very well be the best role of him i've seen, even better than Titus Pullo in Rome, where he was absolutely fantastic aswell.
I'm sure Yoda taught him how to commune after death. He knows.
Baylan and Shin are hands down my favorite characters in this series. I love every second they’re on screen.
Well we haven't seen any bad assery yet. Let's see if they can fight.
@@jonfreeman9682are we even watching the same show?
@@user-rz4wb5te4q Well Baylan got more to give. He's supposed to a Jedi Master with more power than Ahsoka. But I think he will turn good again as the green guy abandoned him and even sent troops to kill him after he freed the green guy from prison.
@@jonfreeman9682more likely he's only a Knight. He would've been in his early-mid 20s when Order 66 took place. Obi-Wan for comparison became a Knight at 25 years old and a Master at 35.
@@DS9TREK You could be right. He may be a knight or may have power like Dooku and can shoot electric ⚡ out from his hand. Dooku was one of the most powerful. Even Mace Windu can't do that and had to defeat him with light saber. Baylan may not be at Dooku level of power yet.
Anyone else just absolutely speechless at how unbelievably awesome this show is. Why, why, didn’t they use any of this for a 7,8 and 9. Dave Filoni in one episode has introduced more new possibilities and stories than the entire sequel trilogy. It’s basically like having George back there writing away and talking to Dave. I was actually just awestruck, I haven’t felt this way since the first shot of A New Hope which I saw in its rerelease in theatres. My first Star Wars film when I was 4. I kept watching the start of that movie over, and over again on vhs because I had never seen anything like a Star Destroyer. To be honest I understand something now, I’m a almost 35 year old Dad and I’m not a crier but Star Wars just makes me feel like I’m 4 years old again constantly watching that Star Destroyer. Star Wars for whatever reason has always had the ability to really make me feel emotional. Maybe because the central theme is all about family, the idea of redemption, never giving up on anything but especially your family. By that I mean those who you consider family as well. They godamn got me again with the Ezra, Sabine reunion. It was so perfectly shot, choreographed, Even the aliens and animals in this episode felt back to Authentic Star Wars. Akira Kurosawa style tongue in cheek humour. Also I think it can Break down my emotional walls because it was the first movie I was genuinely excited to show my daughter. We watched the OT when she was five and she had an unhealthy love for Darth Vader, which turned into obsession after she laid eyes on Hayden Christensen when we watched the prequels when she was 7. Now she’s a teenager I don’t see her as much, it reminds me of when I was the centre of my little girl’s world showing her the things that blew my mind just like my Dad and brother did for me. Star Wars is a family, that’s what people don’t understand. If you love Star Wars and meet another person who’s a fan what are you going to be talking about 99% of the time. But this show keeps making me feel really happy emotions for the first time in a long time. I’m not going to lie, the sequels destroyed my soul. The feeling of absolute disgust I had after watching The Last Jedi and the feeling of just general disappointment after The Rise of Skywalker did make me depressed. But what made me more upset was my daughter hated both of those films so much. Because it destroyed her favourite characters arc (mine as well). It destroyed the importance on Anakin Skywalker. I watch the original 6, 2-3 times a year, doing a rewatch of The Clone Wars right now. I have not watched the sequels since one half watch of Rise of Skywalker with my Dad who just turned it off 😂. As far as I’m concerned they don’t exist 😂. But when you did your videos Theory about how much it hurt I felt you bro. That was millions of people’s childhoods or most awesome memories and experiences they were playing with. And they destroyed it, like it was nothing. Anyway so happy we got Star Wars Back!! Dave Filoni is the MVP of Star Wars now. Just give him creative control already to co-ordinate with all Star Wars projects so they can all be this good.
Baylan is truly the dark horse of this movie. Such a interesting and complex character. It's sad that Ray Stevens passed away unexpectedly and can't see the well deserved praise.
I see a Anakin type redeem arch for him.
If he goes full dark side, they could continue his story with a helmet but that feels a little disrespectful to the actor. I would like to see more of the character but that feels selfish of me. I'm conflicted. I just hope the character gets the finale he deserved.
If only things that have the force have luck would R2D2 be force sensitive?

@@austinsosnowski7123 one can only hope
Eh it's ok. *Spoiler*
Don't get me wrong the night sister's origins being tied to another galaxy outside of the known galaxy and that being coupled with Thrawn is cool but.... Sabine just magically appearing with armor that happens to have a rebel insignia after being captured by Skol with no armor that then ends up being the key to the aliens leading her to Ezra... is just weak writing. Then there's the question of just how the hell Thrawn lost Ezra for the entirety of his exile when he had an entire garrison of stormtroopers on his ship, but Sabine finds him almost in a single day.
There's also the fact that Thrawn has his entire garrison outfitted in strange, albeit interesting armor that has absolutely no logical purpose whatsoever.
Is it cool they brought Thrawn back? Absolutely. Does the plot so far make sense? No.
I would even say the music from Kevin kiner is great as well
@@Redditor6079do Dude hhhjhjnhjnghbghb dude she was wearing it when Baylan took her in episode 5
Personally my highlight in this episode was when huyang told ahsoka the Story and started it with in a galaxy far far away. This took me way back to my childhood and beautiful memories
I agree with you. It's also pretty cool because it probably means that in the Star Wars universe, the phrase "In a galaxy far, far away" is like the phrase "once upon a time" in real life. It's the classic story beginning.
@@alexrudolph301 probably, if you think about this in any way it gets cooler every time. I really enjoy this series so far and really cannot unterstand how so many people think it isn't that good

The casting for this show is really, really solid. Every actor has felt like a positive presence on the screen. That goes a long ways. Ray Stevenson has been magnetic, especially, and it's sad to have lost him.

I don’t think that Ezra will be happy with Sabine when he finds out that she helped the bad guys to find him.
Momentarily maybe - but i dont think itll last in any way AND imo hell be far closer to Huyangs position on what sabine did that ahsokas.
He's going to be upset for sure, he gave up his life for the cause and she just undid it all
I don't think he will be upset. Ezra comes off as understanding in the later season of Rebels. Fast forward 10 years and I'm sure he has learned a lot in exile. I think he will get ready to be back into the fight and create a plan. Shin and Balylan are going after them afterall.
Sabine** You will thank me later. 😂
@@ImGubySabine will just tell Ezra that he wouldn't understand like she told Thrawn. Risk an entire Galaxy for one friend
Reminder that Thrawn’s Star Destroyer was in critical shape after the battle of Lothal. The fact that he kept it and majority of the crew compliment operational shows just how dangerous he is
Those troopers aren't exactly fully operational
You mean his zombie troopers lol
The son turned into a gargoyle, not a bat, and the daughter into a griffin, with the father turning into a mix of the two. And I think Thrawn knew of Baylan, cause he knew Anakin, who knew Baylan, and Thrawn worked for the emperor, who had access to everything and all information in the jedi temple at will, and probably shared a thing or 2 with Thrawn, as he ranked up through the empire, or Thrawn put a lot of pieces together himself from all the art in the jedi temple, which we must assume there were also loads and loads of. Also, I know that Shin doesn't look like either, but if she turns out to be Cal and Merrin's daughter, and Baylan then took her under his wing after they died, sadly, in the 3rd game. I know it's out there, just like the theory that mara jade could be Cal and Merrin daughter in canon, but hey, never say never.
How thick plot armor can be*
He's so dangerous he couldn't capture Ezra living 5 miles away from him for 10 years. Truly an intelligent villain!
The "cold embrace of many arms" is a direct reference to the ending of the Rebels in which Thrawn is grabbed by the purrgil and sent into hyperspace.
In Jedi Survivors, Merrin the Nightsister uses her Magic to put things into their former State, so I really like the idea of the Grand Mothers having used their Powers to repair an entire Star Destroyer with Material from their Homeworld
Baylan and Shin are such a breath of fresh air. Extremely compelling characters that honestly deserve their own movie/series. They're mysterious, forthright, and still have a sense of honor. Such a tough blow what happened to Ray. I hope in the next tales of the Jedi they bring him back in animated form.

One thing that wasn’t discussed was the small mention in the beginning of the episode by Huyang. “Histories of the Galaxy, parts one, two and three.” Ahsoka: “One being the best of them all.” With side eye towards the camera. 🤔 Here’s another thought. If Huyang starts his stories, “A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…”. Does that mean that he has been narrating the movies to younglings the entire time? Throughout Star Wars history! 😮

I am almost positive that Thrawn could have found Ezra if he wanted to. But, he used the fact that Ezra was alive as a means to get rescued. He probably knew that Morgan Elsbeth needed "help" to be able to retrieve him.

Only knowing what she’s been taught from young, she’s questioning a lot of the way of things.
Interesting arcs between her and Skol
I think she's heading for a scIssor sesh with Sabine.
I think getting to know Ezra will shake her - his Jedi-ness could surprise her (I do hope he got some Qui-gon vibes focusing on the living force and 20:40 away from any idea of an Order).
Besides that, Ezra and Sabine's friendship will most likely leave a mark as well, as she seems kind of a loner among the grown-ups.

I feel like the “cold embrace” was referring to Thrawn getting wrapped up by the Purrgil at the end of Rebels. You never know though. It’s crazy that Filoni was able to connect the “I knew I could count on you” all the way back to the seed he planted in rebels where Ezra says “Sabine I’m counting on you”

It would be great to see a flash back of Baylan as a Jedi at the temple, especially if he knew Anakin or Obi-wan etc
lots of Japanese references in this too.. the Kintsugi used for Thrawns ships and troops, the practice of filling cracks with gold. Then the shot of the bandits ontop the hill was directly from Seven Samurai opening act of the bandits over looking the village. Even the bandit armor was arranged in a similar kind of style. I found it interesting that Thrawn’s captain was named Enoch. In the Bible, Enoch was one of two people who never died… it could give a little credence to the theory that all of Thrawn’s army are undead 🧟♀️
Maybe enoch is the only other survivor and all the rest are revived troopers
@@diegoidepersia I agree. The humanlike face mask? When he tells Sabine to "Die well?" As if he too may be alive?!
i think it may be the other way around i think the nighttroopers may be strengthened with magick but Enoch is the only one who truly died and came back which would lend meaning to his name because it is a fact that the magick users who raise a corpse can make that bag of bones drop again so thrawn wouldn't want a army that is fully dependent on someone staying loyal who is his equal in intelligence and power.@@diegoidepersia

Enoch was also the name of the Forever knight that kept fighting Ben 10
I think one of the key lines in this episode was when Shin is concerned about the group on the ridge, Baylan tells her “an enemy of an enemy is a friend.”
If Thrawn turns on them, Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra will be the enemy of Shin’s enemy.
18:15 the Bendu says "I See Your Defeat, Like Many Arms Surrounding You In A Cold Embrace." I took that to mean the Purrgil’s tentacles wrapping around him at the end of Rebels 🤔

i want to note, that when Baylon said "enemy of my enemy is my friend" when talking about the samurai people, is a foreshadowing for Shin - when she turns on Thrawn and helps Ahsoka because of those words of her dead teacher - baylon.
I hope shin baddie gets her own spin off or appears in future projects! She's the best
After Rebels, we know cratures and animals are all connected to the force, with ones more sensitives than others. There's nothing weird with the rat wolf bonding with Sabine so fast. It must have sensed her connection to the light side, which is extremely different with what it was used to.
This was probably my favorite episode so far. It's the first time I've felt the Star Wars film universe expanding beyond the Skywalker saga.

I think The cold embrace of Thrawn - was meant as the ending of rebels series when the Purgil embrace his ship and take him away into the cold of space.
in my opinion and i think theyve done a great job with this, baylan looks as if he has two completely different sides to him that he has complete control over. when he’s just going about his business he channels the light, hes more wistful calculating. as soon as he enters a fight you can see him flip that switch and a shadow falls over his face. the actor does such an excellent job of portraying a completely different demeanor in such a subtle way. you can clearly see the difference of when hes channeling the dark or light and the control he has over it
Personally, I think that it might _actually_ be Abeloth ( *_the Mother_* ) herself, who is calling out to Baylan Skull. Not the Son.
I agree because Abeloth is looking for away back to Star Wars galaxy
That would be awesome!
@@devwilson6301 And because the Son died on Mortis along with the Father and Daughter.....
My opinion is that baylan was a temple guard; for a few reasons
1. This would explain how he knew anakin was Vader (“what he became”) as he would’ve been at the temple- this is backed up by the fact he said “I watched all I knew burn” (probably the temple)
2. It would explain why he was around to hear anakin speak of Ashoka but anakin did not ever mention him (the temple guard aren’t seen without their armor)
3. It explains the look of his armor and his great sword style lightsaber which is more stylistically similar to fighting with a lightsaber pike that the temple guards used
4. When he mentions that he liked what the order stood for but not the weakness that the order actually was (he could have come to realize this after looking back on the trails he likely watched - perhaps even ahsoka’s
5. Maybe the orange saber is the result of bleeding a yellow saber and that is why they are acceptionally rare
6. His saber is even similar to half of one of the temple guard pikes
I hope they reveal his background but in my head this is a very good explanation for baylan
Very interesting 😊
Great theory but I don't think so as they recognised his lightsaber hilt from when he made it as a padawan. Implying he always used a lightsaber not a pike which pretty much writes off your theory. Which was actually a very good theory I must admit.
Interesting but i don´t think so, since Guard Temples are confined to the temple, and he was addressed as "general" by Thrawn, so he was in activity outside the temple during the clone wars
@@Brenoskywalker77 I was thinking the same thing, but I rationalized it as perhaps Thrawn calls him general because he knows most Jedi around his age would have held a similar rank during the clone wars, and was saying it almost as a sign of respect
@@Sb-ty7xo most temple guard were adults (or at least the size of adults) so I would assume he would have made his lightsaber as a young Padawan(prior to being selected as a temple guard), then given the traditional pike once starting his service to the temple guard
I dig the Night Sisters story line. I would like to see force ghost Yoda warn Luke about them. Love to see more of the Night Sisters.
Got to agree on your choice of favourites. Balon & Shin are just fascinating, they perfectly explore that padawan-master relationship from a new angle, I think we all enjoyed the Anakin-Obi Wan dynamic and now we're seeing a new take on this somewhat exclusively star wars trope of the competent learner and the master. Balon & Shin are so well written, designed aesthetically, and acted, I'd go as far to say they're the finest characters to come out of the Disney Star Wars canon. They feel at home in the Star Wars universe, but also fresh and new. Got to hand it to both actors here, what performances.
This show is so much better than people thought a spin-off from a cartoon that was seen as a replacement of a long time fan-fav... Rebels and its characters, ideas, and world have gone so far man, im glad its getting its flowers in these story continuations.
Shout out to who ever composed the score for this episode. Every time Thrawn was on screen some real powerful tunes were playing.
This entire series so far has a good score
@@devinlwoods Yeah I whole heartedly agree but it was outstandingly epic during this episode. Especially the last scene with Thrawn taking to the sisters.
Is it bad that with all of the amazing awesome things we got this episode, i just really liked the big doggo? Such a good dog.
I think the reason why Thrawn couldn't find Ezra all this time is because Ezra and his new friends don't stay in one place for too long (he talks about this at the end of the episode).
Thrawn got that Elon Musk bod
I thought the same thing! Face even looks kinda like him 😂
It didn't bother me very much I just consider that he was sitting around stuffing his face while he waited

This show definitely deserves more episodes then it originally has.
The first thing my wife said when she saw the witches in this episode: "Oh cool, they're obviously inspired by the Fates from Greek mythology." Great episode. Also excellent breakdown video.
Sabine getting angry at the Howler is Filoni showing her abandonment issues as blatantly as he ever has
I think the « cold embrace » line from the Bendu was referring to the purgill wrapping thrawn in their coils and warping to deep, dark, cold void of space. Great vid, can’t wait for next episode!!
Yes, this seemed very obvious. Bendu wasn't talking about some show that hadn't even been written yet.
Yeah, because didn’t bendu say he saw thrawn’s defeat not his death
Yes, but Dave can change our interpretation. Also, prophecies are often though to have partial fulfillment before an ultimate fulfillment. I could easily see Dave using the Bendu's words to mean that Thrawn's undead army turns on him.
Yes that is what I thought as well😊
Agreed
The relationship between Baylan Skoll and Shin is honestly carrying this entire show and I like that we get to learn a bit more about his motives.
+ @dereklopez9060 yeah, Baylan aint getting killed anytime soon. Too much a great character with so much backstory to kill off whimsically.
And Wrens reaction towards the doghorse. Thrawn with beer belly was geniously played though.
@@aracelymoran2504yeah I wish he would make it past the first season but sadly the guy that plays Baylan died in real life so who knows what’s gonna happen with the character. Not gonna continue on with him either way sadly.
@@aracelymoran2504Well that may not be true... cause his actor died. They might have to kill the character off screen if he doesn't die in the show.
If they are able to do that trippy AI thing like they did with Tarkin and get someone to mimmick his voice, it would be amazing to get more of his story. But since it's still fresh I feel like it would be a bit disrespectful to do
@@aracelymoran2504the question then becomes who replaces Rey Stevenson as Baylen
How did Thrawn and Esra survive the starwhale transport with no life support systems or protection from space by being in the mouth of a starwhale? If starwhales go there to die, then how did esra and Thrawn get onto the planet surface? How did the star cruiser get there, especially if it didn't need a fancy new hyper drive, or crew? Did they bring Thrawn new clothes or is his wearing the same clothes he arrived there with? How would he not know where Esra is, since they arrived there both at the same place and time? Did they fight and then part ways?
Ezra.. 🤦♀️
18:17 I think the real "Many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace" will be the Nightmothers betraying him. During the finale, when Thrawn orders the bombardment of the temple, I noticed the Sisters were giving him a weird look.
I love how Filoni just doesn't let Sabine use the force, bro is trolling Sabine in every episode
All I have to say is we need more SW like this going forward. Honestly, the overwhelmingly majority of praise for characters like Baylan and Shin, just shows how we need many more stories told in live action of other past/present Jedi/force users. Everyone is just excited about seeing something new outside of the Skywalker legacy.

@@biketoshi5348 dosnt matter where they go when the writting and acting so poor
@@mccleandazza4618 Could you elaborate on why you feel the acting and writing is bad in Ahsoka, specifically?
Man, this was so good. It shows how much better these TV series are than the sequel trilogy. For example, in The Rise of Skywalker, the Emperor shows up with his massive fleet of Star Destroyers and his red "Sith Troopers" and its like "eh, ok whatever." But in this episode when Thrawn showed up a single Star Destroyer with his army of Storm Troopers with super cool looking armor and especially his gold faced leader Enoch; it was like, "now this is intimidating." It commanded respect and awe. It was just so much better. Did anyone else feel the same way?
I think it would be very cool to see the Son in live action. It might be confusing for some who have not seen the Mortis Arc of the Clone Wars
Thrawns entrance was spectacular he has such a menacing but calm presence about him and poses an actual threat to the galaxy
Spectacular
Did you notice the exchange between Ashoka and Huyang? See how frustrated she got when he got her to think twice about Sabine’s choice to go with the enemy to look for Ezra.
Does anyone else think Ezra’s casting was perfect?

Theory in Watch Party: 7/10
Thought the same thing. I like some of his takes but dude copes hard a lot of the time
Lol, I'm just glad most people in the watch party ended up giving it a 9-10 and 7-8. I thought it was actually better than episode 5 which I never thought I'd say. Got dune vibes and Baylen was great, and also the music was really good.

7 is above average 6 is slightly above average and 5 is average. 7 is when it's a good episode 8-10 is when it's a near masterpiece
Loved seeing Ezra. My preteen daughter grew up watching Rebels and was ecstatic. It's good to see each generation have their "star wars hero". Looking forward to more episodes.
I personally believe Abeloth calling out to Baylan in order to attempt to possess him and free herself and unleash her chaos.
I also do think the Grysk and the Yuuzahn Vong are other possible threats.
So bummned Ray is gone. Baylon & Shin are an awesome team.
I so wish so bad Ray could see how much love we are giving him.
The nighttroopers are all gonna be dead but I think Enoch could actually be alive. It would make sense for thrawn to want a living right hand man, and he’s shorter than the rest.
I have another argument that Baylan is looking for the son: Remember that one episode was called „Toil and Trouble“, a quote from Shakespeare‘s Macbeth. And wordplay of son/sun could be another Shakespeare reference, the famous first line of his play Richard III has the same wordplay: „Now is the winter of our discontent / Made glorious summer by this sun [or son] of York.“
I love when the captain says die well to Sabine
I think Thrawn didn’t chase Ezra, I think he was afraid of him after Ezra brought them to this new world and, to Thrawn, probably seemed all powerful. That’s also way Ezra didn’t seem to be hiding that hard. It could also be a ceasefire between them too.
Kintsugi is a metaphor for embracing one’s flaws and imperfections. Much like inlaying gold in pottery makes it stronger in Kintsugi, embracing one’s flaws unlocks one’s full potential.
Lana Del Rey taught me that lol
I have to say the character designs and Thrawn ship is some of the coolest shit i've seen in quite some time, real good job to the art department this time.
Star wars is finally back! This show has been amazing on so many levels. If not Lucas himself, it's gotta be Filoni leading the SW universe with Jon Favs as #2, no one else even comes close to understanding the nuanced universe so well.
Totally agree with the advancement of the narrative point you made at the start. Best one yet
This episode had such an eldritch feel to it. Creepy shit and I can’t wait to see more!! Especially to see what happens with our favorite characters! I just hope thrawn isn’t killed off!
One thing I’ve noticed is that the stormtroopers have that distorted and wrong sounding voice as marrok. I wonder if marrok and the stormtroopers are medically enhanced or actually the undead?
Definitely undead, resurrected by Night sister black magic.
"Unnerving" was the word I used to describe the feeling of this episode, but "eldritch" fits so much better!
He won’t because he will be the boss villain in the next season of mando
The stormtroopers are definitely dead and have been raised with nightsister magic, same as Marrok. You can see red straps all over their armour.
Think about it logically, how would you keep all those stormtroopers fed? From what we've seen there's barely any food anywhere on the planet.
The scene of Thrawn's arrival, along with those Stormtroopers, was spectacular. I really enjoyed seeing more of the Nightsisters and I'm very curious to see more of Thrawn's alliance with these witches. Awesome, it's great to see you back. (I loved Captain Enoch's armor.)
Army? That was more of a company of soldiers.

I’ve kind of closed the Star Wars chapter after the first episode of the show, I even stopped watching reaction videos on UA-cam. But if it’s good, I’m glad and happy for you 😎
My favorite part is when Thrawn gets annoyed and just stares at Morgan when she questions his decision about sending only two squads to aid Skoll and Hati

Thrawn asked for all info on Ahsoka even who her master was. Curious what his reaction will be once he finds out since he knows Anakin is darth Vader.
Baylan over here like a chaotic neutral Qui Gon!
Hey SWTheory, I have a theory for you :)
The "Peridia" galaxy is actually our galaxy. This is the big revolution that Filoni promised us in the whole universe of franchises.
And this is why Baylan and Shin are so fascinating : we confusely sense that their role is to reinitiate the cycle of the Force here, in their future, which is also to be our past. That is why Baylan speaks about a "new beginning" ; that is why he and Shin bear a name that relies very explicitely to old myths (norse myths, of which Baylan is clearly a sort of personification). Him and Shin, and probably Ahsoka, are going to clash for the future of the Force in our universe, and be remembered as the matter of myths and legends. Thrawn's crusade is off-subject for Baylan; it concerns the SW galaxy, and not this one. This is also the meaning of the very first sentence of SW : "A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away"... But the episode is hinting at the fact that characters from the SW galaxy also have legends about OUR own galaxy, from which the Dathomir sisters originate from. We are the "far far away" for the SW universe, but our galaxy is also the future of the Force. Totally lines up with Lucas' project of creating a global myth, and we can all expect a "Planet of the apes" moment somewhere at the end of one season.
I love how they show the power that’s needed for these jumps with the aftershocks of the hyperspace ring and the rainbows of the purgil
