I’ve lost 25 pounds and 3-4 inches in my waist and hips the past year doing a body recomp with just a slight calorie deficit, walking, and Lucy’s workouts. I’ve gone from barely doing wall
Pushups to knee pushups to banded pushups, and now I’m getting SO close to a full push-up. Never would have tried calisthenics if I hadn’t found Lucy- most others on UA-cam I found too intimidating. Sounds dramatic but she has straight up changed my life ❤️

Additional note for anyone else watching - I purchased Lucy's Beginner Calisthenics Ebook after watching this, and I suggest you go for it if you are considering! I am seriously impressed. It's 77 pages (but easy to read) and is wholistic - speaks to laying out training schedules, how to progress and listen to your body, etc. I'm excited to dive in and feel free to train anywhere and anytime! Thank you ❤

@@bsantos2668 Hi! The beginner book has a laid out program with schedule, photos, and modification ideas for movements, that switches every 2weeks. She also has ideas for warmup and cool down movements, philosophy/mindset/goal tracker etc. If it doesn't feel right for you, maybe take her suggestion for now and just play around with movement to find what feels good and how you like to train first. I went for it, as I feel I need a more structured plan and want to work towards specific goals at this time. Hope that helps! 😊

I am about 40 lbs overweight and due to making 3 babies over the last 5 years and 3 csections, I'm am far below peak strength. Just started strength training again 1 year postpartum. I went from a 7 second dead hang to 20 second (one time woth baby strapped to me). I am starting to add shoulder shrugs as well and you taught me how to make my body not swing.
I see other improvements such as adding negative pushups and having the ability to slowly lower myself and even hold at the end an inch away from the floor before releasing. Thanks for doing what you do. Happy Easter!

@@brilliantsunshine1373 thanks for checking in! The strength training went on hold due to baby number 4 and losing a parent. But definitely have been building habits of movement and I look forward to getting back to strength training when postpartum recovery allows for it!

I just start calisthenics 2 weeks ago because I love it but I've been procrastinating for years because it's a very hard discipline. I am so overweight and my upper body strength so weak that I have to use 3 elastic bands in order to do pull ups (yes I said 3). It's very humiliating and frustrating because I have been doing fitness programs for 2 years ! I still keep going.
Thanks for the motivation though ❤❤ ❤❤❤❤❤

Can i just say how good it feels when someone talks about exercise and mentions loosing weight without fat shaming, acknowledges that weight loss might not be the goal for everyone - and yet the whole video and the message is so positive and welcoming! Thank you ❤

Hi, I'm a mo cap performer and I gotta say you have some really useful exercises on your channel.
Being in shape for an audition is a chore for me but those quick workouts at home are pretty cool.
Especially since motion capture sessions are getting more demanding.
PS. You almost saw me in the new Resident Evil 4 as Leon 😐

Gymnastics/Calisthenics is what I'm going for and that's at a weight of around 298lbs. I agree with the strength to weight ratio. Getting progress with kicking up to the wall as well as just hanging. Currently working on forward rolls/backward rolls and working on the L-Sit / pike from hanging. Can hold it for about 2 seconds.

I feel like Calisthenics while over weight feels backwards. You are new, but start with the largest weight for an exercise. The thing to remember is to do different variations that may lower the weight while still working the same muscle groups.

Hi Lucy, how many training per week and how long they should be to start seeing some progress and start with your cali adventure? 😊

    • @ceyre81
      @ceyre81 Рік тому +3

Not OP but I exclusively do Lucy’s videos about 4 days a week (5 if I’m feeling extra motivated, but honestly I think 3 is fine for beginners), and they are usually around 20-25 minutes each. I don’t have a set schedule, I pretty much just scroll through them all and do the one that calls out to me. If I do one with a lot of lower body- I might switch the next one to more upper body or core if I’m sore.

I think more men could promote more women in calisthenics. I mean I found it through Chris Heria. But, then again, more women could promote women too! I find cali so exciting and so fun, I would recommend it to anyone.
