It’s called “getting experience” good move on his part. The more he plays against people who are more advanced and the more he plays in these types of venues, the better he will be at the mental game and the game itself.

Not to mention getting to know the courses this isn't like football where it's the same field it takes a lot of knowledge to remember the greens my grandfather use to know them all how the grass played soft or hard where to aim

People should be talking about Miles Russell who is the same age as Charlie Woods. Miles has dominated the junior level of play for many years. Miles is the real deal.

You dont get better by watching pros, you get better by playing them and seeing how the best manage courses and you gotta try all courses, no one wants to fly to another city or across the country to try out a course but it makes it better to know youre flying for a competition.

Even better to try at something your dad is not the GOAT at. 9 over par ain’t the ticket when Miles Russell out here shooting casual mid 60s, winning tournaments at the same age. He should have gone into F1 or something like other nepobabies. Far less competition from the riff raff.

Hes a good golfer...qualified for the jr. Am, shot 1 under to win his qualifier...the issue is that hes not his dad and it's ridiculous to expect him to be...people forget how freakish tiger was...he was WINNING the jr am at age 14 then continied to win for the next 5 years then went pro and humiliated everyone at augusta national...we will likely never see someone do that again...if charlie had a different last name, his golf accomplishemnts would be getting praise

Right. People should be talking about Miles. He is the real deal. He won the US Kids World Tournament at Pinehurst as an 11-year-old and then again as a 12-year-old. He has dominated AJGA events and is ranked #1. And recently he finished T20 at a Korn Ferry professional event as a 15-year-old. Wow. Woods has done NONE of this. It will be interesting to see if Miles tries to qualify for the USGA Junior Amateur, which is coming soon. He should easily qualify and have a good chance of winning it.

Agreed. Tiger was raised a whole other way, night and day from his son and generally speaking believe it or not it matters. Tiger was alot more disciplined and mature at 15, didnt speak out of turn nor interrupt the Nam vet ever. His son will get there, gotta be around his dad Tiger more though! Now is the time. My respects to them and golf is not the same without TW playing. Sempre.Fidelis

He will have a hard time. His dad got exposure as a teenager because he won 3 straight US Junior Amateurs. Charlie is a good golfer, but is being overexposed due to who his dad is. Gary Nicklaus was a really good golfer, but being on the cover of Sports Illustrated as a teenager, with the headline, “The Next Nicklaus” end edition up doing him no favors. I think he may have earned a tour card for a year well into his 30s, but his career never materialized.

I think it's ridiculous that Charlie Woods is trying to compete with professionals at this point, as if he believes he is that good. He must have a distorted sense of entitlement and his game if he thinks he belongs at the age of 15 with a game that clearly isn't that great yet. He may be good in time, and he can compete then. But to place himself in this kind of position trying to qualify for a tournament with real professionals is a bit presumptuous and even insulting.
