    Operated many them. Good well maintained right cat D11. Will move some serious material. Surprised myself amount in a few days. Trick is keep the dozer maintained. They want them running 24/7 non stop. But you got to keep them in good shape. I seen few pretty new ones done junked out. I wouldn't buy for scrap metal. Undercarriage worn out. 1/2 controls don't work. Leaking more Hyd. Than drinking diesel per hour. Sad deal.

    What is with that truck backing up to the dozer on the blind side then dumping and the operator on the Dozer backs over half the pile? Cowboy mining lol
    Usually the worst tires are put on the blind side rear and they sometimes blow while dumping.
    Say goodbye to Mr D11 if he’s in that location if it happens.
    Good video though.

    I swamped a GMC General tractor in sand up to axles 30 years ago---full tandem--double bunk 256 wb---400 Cummins ---big truck --I think it was 22000 lbs bob-tail. I saw a guy putting fuel in a D-3 and he reluctantly came and pulled me out --a good samaritan with a brand new Toyota Tundra tried previously --I already had a chain on it--and it didnt budge an inch--this guy hooked up and went--my air brakes were on and I was trying to get in and help with the pull by spinning it with diff-lock in 3rd gear--he dragged that thing passed me while I was reaching for the grab handle. Wow---That was a D-3 I could imagine this animal !

      On mining sites you have to leave a berm the size of the axle height of the largest piece of equipment that will be traveling the area. In this case it's those big trucks which equates to about 10ft berm height

    I can see by Google Earth that you have a pretty football and athletics court by the west side, I wander if this coal pit mine is new as seen by me, or does it have time, well what is astonishing is the CAT D11 with its 98 cubic yard capacity means that it is pushing 125 tonnes aprox. this kind of machine doesn´t work in any place, lest ít´s needed. Fine and cheers

    • @maxm3116
      @maxm3116 4 роки тому +2

      typically when they open another cut they use the material to backfill the previous one that has been mined and is ready to be filled back in. although this is usually done with a dragline or something similar, but each company has their own way of doing things. they also could be doing reclamation and returning the overburden back to the mined area to close it up and restore it back to it's original state. usually when you see overburden being pushed into a hole it's for one of those reasons.

    Why can't the dozer operator build a road to the bottom of the pit and the trucks drive down and dump ? Fill the hole from the bottom up, as opposed to the top,down. Seems like less machine hours. I'm just a stupid HVAC guy though.

    • @jstoli996c4s

      Jeff Stock I’m certainly no expert, but my guess is that this approach compacts the dirt more.

    • @Rickimusic
      @Rickimusic 4 роки тому

      @@jstoli996c4s After watching letsdig18 and doing some rough calculations, a loaded truck with tires would compact much better than the D11. It is simply a psi comparison. As for the OP, the D11 sits a lot lower to the ground than the trucks they are using. Hence, running a truck down those hills could side flip or forward flip a loaded truck and if it made it down, now it has to climb back out which is now a back flip hazard. You would negate the need for one dozer but would then have to double or triple the truck numbers they are running. Also wear and tear on the trucks would be huge, brakes and transmissions especially.

    Stellarton is a town located in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. It is adjacent and to the south of the larger town of New Glasgow.
    In pioneer times the area was called Coal Mines Station, and from 1833 until 1870, it was known as Albion Mines.
    The town was incorporated as Stellarton in 1889 and owes its name to a specific type of torbanite which came to be known as "stellarite" because of the "stars of fire" given off by its sparky flame.

Trucks dumping directly behind that dozer ! Truck drivers broke all kinds of laws dumping over on that dozer like that ! When you see a dozer that size buried with a man inside the cab, they will get the big picture .
