Thanks Peter, it's niche content with smaller audience. In UK I would probably do a lot better but history and info obviously isn't as fun as all the vlogs getting the attention!
Another very interesting area of Bangkok I will have to visit love the many narrow alleys and the trees in the area. The Chinatown part of Bangkok has a very different overall vibe than other areas and you should also notice the Chinese women of the night lurking off the main roads. Almost feels as if you are no longer in Thailand in some ways. Wish you would write a guidebook about Bangkok Pat I could wander these places for days. Thank you for another great adventure.
I love this area of Bangkok, I have stayed at the Riverview many times and love exploring the area, so much to see and do here. You are right that it does have its own unique smell, for those who are squeamish it can be overwhelming, but I find it doesn't bother me in the least as this is life in Bangkok that should be experienced. Thanks again Pat for the great look into Talad Noi.
Thanks Pat for being considerate to the people who live down some of the small soi's and not sticking your camera in their homes for the shake of saying "I'm in real Thailand now" like some vloggers do!!
Enjoyed this video immensely. Learnt so much about a part of BKK I did not know a great deal about. Lots of shots of our furry (some not so friendly) friends. Thanks again Pat. Great work. 🙏👍.
Thanks Chip, glad you liked that one, that area is a great place to get lost in, despite it being so small! I'll be back for a stroll around there without the camera soon!
The old buildings are so beautiful, I hope they don't get removed. You've got to love Pats accent on the cats bollocks,ha ha nice one Pat another great video. 🤣🙏
Thanks Leonardo, that area won't get knocked down for malls or anything, there's not enough space and the IconSiam is opposite side of the river anyway
Just viewed this super video. My wife's family initially lived in this area and some still do. They immigrated from china in the late 1800's and early 1900's and many never even learned to speak Thai. Most were merchants and had shops in the area. I explored this area in 1968-70 but due to lack of mobility now I can not return and greatly appreciate Bangkok Pat's video.
Thanks Bob it was definitely an experience walking around that area, lots of old buildings and architecture, history of course, all the dark sois and alleyways, the large numbers of cats hanging about, the art (some good, some just simply pretentious bullsh*t) all in such a small area. And of course the river being so close by was great as well.
I accidentally got off of the Chao Phraya Express boat at the Marine pier in Talad Noi and stumbled across an amazing Duck Noodle Soup restaurant. I go back there now every time I visit Bangkok. Great video!
Thanks Scott, very interesting area in such a small space! So many alleys and places to get lost in, art, architecture, cats, odd bits of automobiles...Great place!
Wonderful pastel colours of the buildings contrast delightfully with the raw fabulous artwork on display. Love them to do do some artwork in my home city!
Great timing Pat, will be in Bangkok in 2 weeks staying in China Town area. I have just found the area I will visit and do some street photography. Thank you 🙏
I often have a walk in the streets around lower Charoen Krung. 10 years back it was really busy and difficult for pedestrians, but it gets more and more relaxed. Less traffic, the houses having new paints, there area less dirt, less people living there. But, with that there is also something which got lost. Can remember a very funky Chinese temple on the backside of Wat Traimit, directly on Charoen Krung opposite of Odeon circle. The Temple was called Golden Shine Foundation and was actually a converted two Story Shop House, with lots of dragons, glitter and neon lights. Unfortunately this Shrine was scrapped when they build the new Wat Traimit complex in the early 2010s. The whole area will be renovated and will look much more appealing, but will also lose their former charm.
@@BangkokPat No chances to ignore, they are so smart, sweet and adorable. And I feel happy to feed them as much as possible for last 6 or 7 years, massively in my area. Another great informative video Pat. I watched it until the ending in one shot this time; usually I split a long video into few watched-and-left-and-continue; and only for video I like, and would like to continue afterward in these hectic days. Whatnot, this video shows the area when I first rode a bicycle in Bangkok, full of memories there. Thanks again Pat for bringing joy 🙏🏼

My BF and I explored Talad Noi yesterday as part of Bangkok Design Week 2022. It was the first time for both of us. It's a really cool, old part of town. Edgy and artsy, but clearly tons of history. And yes, oodles of cats. Thanks for sharing the video.
Next BKK area to be explored, looking forward. Accommodation options a bit slim though but found a way. As usual great advice great format here, getting you a coffee or 4
River View Hotel right in the middle of Tal;ad Noi. I didn't show it in this video as it still hadn't reopened yet. Great prices and excellent views from the right rooms, rooftop and nearby are some excellent coffee shops. I've recommended a few others here too: www.riverviewbkk.com/

Thanks Jimmy, the cats hardly noticed me swooping around silently with the camera, the black and white one did glance but was concentrating on looking fierce!
Pat, another great video. My rating is a 9….but may I recommend for future geographic videos, you include a map so we can see the contour of the area and correctly place it in Bkk. Some of your landmarks helped me (church, bank building), but you get the point. Thanks again.
Really very good video... I have been to this part of Chinatown many times, but I have missed so much. Thank you for the eye-opening tour of this wonderful neighborhood.
Nice one Pat. I never get tired of meandering around the alleys of Talad Noi area. So many places have been converted tastefully to cool cafes and restaurants without tearing the whole buildings down in recent years. Its refreshing to see some Thais appreciate the history and architecture they have in the area. Recently I was walking along the river between Sheraton and the art gallery. I came across some young guys fishing. I asked them in my horrible thai if they had caught anything and could I take a look? As fishermen everywhere are, they were happy to open their little coolers and show me their catch. This is a great way to break the ice with locals anywhere if you speak some of the language. Also, nice cat fight!
Wow! You did a fantastic job covering the area ! It’s brought back lots of memories of bkk trips over the years. Just an amazing video!! Thanks for the hard work!
Brilliant! fascinating how old buildings, architecture, food, old photos, still have stories to tell. Exceptional video production and story telling completes the package. Well done cuz!
And annoying silent scooter tours too. The instagram mob aren't too interested in Talat Noi any more and the little car has been vandalised by a nearby coffee shop that doesn't sell anything despite being next to the car, so that backfired and now tha car looks terrible
