Laying smoke was pre/early war US carrier doctrine. Dive bombers would drop smoke to cover the torpedo bombers attack. We quickly dropped that tactic snd started using dive bombers to drop 500-1000’lbs bombs on ships instead. The F4U was relevant all the way up to Korea and the jet age. The F4U IIRC was credited with the first air to air kill in Korea.
The fighters are actually pretty good for the tier - no idea if there are better ones, but they shred. The damage potential is pretty meh, though, which means especially in bot-heavy games, you'll end up lagging behind the output of a carrier that can actually set fires.
Oh this will be a fun video knowing you haha And sadly, while I’m not a carrier player, I sadly got Wasps camo from a crate, so, I have to get wasp (and Yorktown for, personal reasons)
imagine my Horror when I pulled the Wasp and had to learn the ropes matching against manfred and FDR unicums. my first CV was the best CV in the game though so I ain't that mad.
replying bc I'm on mobile. Actually, there was a special commander, epic commander Talon (the very severe-looking bald eagle.) He increases DPM by buffing your aircraft return speed and adding demo expert+. he was really cheap too I think 6k tokens, so he was an easy buy if you got lucky and pulled any of the CVs.
@@FunandGameswithTerry As you know it's both better and worse. Better because at least your team isn't too inclined to yolo straight into the reds and die within the first 2 minutes bc, well, they've played this before. At the same time, then you get your entire hangar deplaned because the red CV has played this before.
Video number three of asking terry to review the enterprise sins his carrier review are top tier😎 Ps no I’m not confusing you I just don’t reference your skill and instead the entertainment value 👍
Good morning Terry U.S. 2nd light aircraft carrier. Good ship, but still no match for you. Happy New Year's Day, January 1st, 2025 and I wish you all the best
The smokescreen has 1 additional advantage, you can lay one anywhere... you could use it to hide part of your team. No clue how useful that is, but DFA will have tested that option.
I think it's a very niche skill. I do try to smoke up teammates in randoms when I'm in a DD at times, and 9 out of 10 times they just blindly sail out of the smoke - I even go to the length of "braking" them by putting my ship in front of their bow :) I don't think it'll be useful outside elite divisions on voice comms, and then you have the additional issue of one of the wings being too fast, and leaving the smoke puffs with gaps in between...
Great video... interesting capabilities. Still not interested in being a CV player. I try occasionally, but Langley is honestly far as I want to go lol😂
I managed to obtain Yorktown and the smokes only work with Tactical Planes....and since they are fast and you don't get them back, you get a very narrow window of using smoke. Yes I was very disappointed.
It's an odd mechanic. Clearly, you're meant to use them on your team - otherwise, why give them to planes - but that level of coordination is completely wasted on randoms. Which makes it probably a competitive div only feature, since you'll need voice comms to make that worth it, and then you still need to actually get use out of the squadron.
The last time i watched you play carriers was two years ago. Two years later and you still the same with carriers 😂
I'm to old for this, I think 😅

9:45 Sir, you have Lexington class battlecruiser in the game. And it is a premium one too, the "Constellation".
I think he forgot about her
She’s easy to forget about honestly. It’s lackluster and not released much.
Nice job on the Pirnceton! I feel like with 50k and Clear Skies, you’ve improved a lot. Btw Ryujo must be buffed

@@FunandGameswithTerry I think Bearn has better fighters. I fought a Princeton and sadly deplaned everything he had by the end of the battle (:

Believe it or not, I had fun (at least with making the video, if not with actually playing those things)...
@ I mean, at least it’s done now, and you won’t have to touch a carrier again haha (for a while)
Fun video, i doesn't like carriers but will get them with time as historical ships. Happy New Year to you and yours, all the best

Huh, didn't seem to get that one on Press, may have to hassle WG about it.
I can't even begin to imagine what T10 is like... 😂

Thanks, Happy New Year to you, too!
When I saw Wasp was tier 10 I was confused because she’s just a modified Yorktown-Class. Then I remembered there was one in the Essex-Class.
Yeah, it's CV-18, not CV-7

I've gotten up to Ranger on my personal, might try to get further one day, but not while I have more interesting ships to play :)
Hello Terry, Im hoping you could do a review on the musashi as it is currently out on the shipyard rn and i dont know if i should get it

Which tech tree do you think is better, the new one or the old one ( as not-so-good carrier player 😅)
You forgot to mention that the tactical squadrons are a lot faster than the normal squadrons, so you can get them there quicker.
Right, I didn't even look at that, but makes sense - they're like rocket-assisted start planes, or something.
When do they release
Any idea when this line is releasing?
Roadmaps says Januar
@@felixrattay301 Thank you, looking forward to them.
"Stationary Colorado". Isn't that a redundancy?
Standard type BBs are basically artillery positions that get strategic redeployment at times.
Hello Sir,
Do you need a professional UA-cam thumbnail designer?
