This game has been sitting in my library for a long time. I just joined the discord and I'm going to start re-learning. All the work the developers have done has got me excited to jump in! Thanks for the link to the beginners guide!...
Out of all Steam games that collect dust in my library, this one takes a 2nd place in nomination: "I must play it when I'm on a vacation". If devs would release a single player campaign it will take 1st place from FTD for sure xD
I actually see this as a negative. If a game can't explain how to play it properly then it's always going to be seen as niche and thus not reach out to a wider audience.
I can totally understand that. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us all. Do note there are many more tutorials now and a community of players who like to help new players .
Look you can just make one big gun/missile Battleship and remove almost all the micro , you'll just have to play as the teams brawler and straight up charge
The Expanse is much more complex due to the speeds and distances involved. Nebulous is much more forgiving as it is just modern naval combat transposed to space. Missiles are slow, ships are slower, engagement ranges are limited, you also don't need to use all the buttons and toggles in the UI unless if you want to micromanage everything.
i really wish this game gets an FTL like roguelike mode where you jump from node to node, beating different encounters to earn parts/hulls/munition or straight up deployment points.
@@perafilozof In the devblog he talks about how the plan is for the campaign to take the best elements from the previous Conquest concept (intel, persistent fleets, etc.), take out some of the slog, and find a good scale + way to integrate it with the rest of the tactical experience.
That’s actually one of my biggest obstacles about getting the game. The learning curve seems so big that I’m too intimidated to jump in playing actual players from the get go.
@@JTelli786 yeah, totally understandable mate. I hope you and I both find the time to get into it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. Are you interested in more new games?
A tip for anyone who already own the game. If you want Anti fighter missiles use Wake homing seekers for any fighter to fighter missiles or ship to fighter missiles
Issue with that is wake seekers against fighters are only able to guide towards them from directly behind. If they're flying straight at you, the missile won't have a lock on them. Active radar seekers are able to track fighters from all angles, and due to the rounding up of decimal value missile point cost, you can just take both for the same cost as each individually.
The lead developer said that the idea behind the ANS craft is that they are multirole space and atmospheric craft so they don't have to manufacture and field as many craft types.
I actually don't like it visually, feel like Neb could of separated itself from the common aircrafts in space theme but I get it ties into the factions lore
This is my dream game. I own it. Unfortunately its also too much for me without a handholding tutorial to help me learn. I want a challenging sim but I need to be able to learn it. I feel like I'm literally being put in control of a fleet of spaceships when I'm the real me who doesn't know the first thing about any of it. The result is the same. I want to play the shit out of this game. I need training in a tutorial or at least a youtube video. I'm never reading that long written text doc.
Thanks for the comment! The learning curve can be steep and that's something the developers are actively looking into. The community is trying its best to help too with some of them making videos on UA-cam.
As someone whos been following the development of this game but avoids anything multiplayer if this game gets a singleplayer campaign it'll be an instant buy from me, I'm pretty sure there are many who feel the same way. To me this seems like a largely untouched and neglected genre, would love to see this game succeed and appeal to a larger audience.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Zoomed in, yes, but as this game is mostly played zoomed out, it is helpful to more easily figure out their direction.
Yeah, totally understandable. It is no easy task to learn to play or win in this one. But if you take the time and take it one step at a time you can get there. Also ask the community for help
Sometimes i don't like to say this but i do wanna say this: I'm glad there's no porn industry makes an C&C or Warcraft or Homeworld a-like games after Succubus RTS. They probably guess that it won't profit them a lot. Lol.
@perafilozof Ikr? But what's really crazy about it is that gamer that play H games are more friendly than non-H games gamer. That's what according to them that I have chatted with them most.
Idk man this seems to be more and more convoluted with every vid u release. I get it i have fave raves as well. Carriers exist in Soil already and Battle for Sol allows for landings ala battlestar galactica and that game has carriers as well. This game looks great but looks like a job getting up to speed. Definitely behind Falling Frontiers and 5 otherz before I sniff this one which timing wise for selfish reasons may give me a close to complete game and not a headache as it appears. If this games get wonky like DW2 it is doa. Let us hope it goes great
Hi and thx for sharing your impressions and thoughts on it. Yes, it is hard to figure out and changes a lot of with content updates. But for many who managed to learn it it pays off with amazing gameplay
That is not uncommon. You really have to take it one step at a time and slow. There are a lot of controls, mechanics, and different configurations. There are good tutorials in game, and people make videos and write guides to help new players.
The game is becoming interesting, but still lacks many of the things/tools typical for space games. These are the only reasons stopping me from buying.
Hello and thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic. I remember that being a big blow to the player base's confidence in the developers. I hope the announced SP storyline campaign will be a way to fix that.

I've only had the chance to play for a couple hours since the update. I assumed wake wouldn't work against fighters since their drives are small.
Issue with that is wake seekers against fighters are only able to guide towards them from directly behind. If they're flying straight at you, the missile won't have a lock on them. I've been waiting for single player content.
Well, the tutorials and skirmish vs AI are very good to start with
Sounds exciting!
That it is! Have you played anything like it before?
Thx for the video!
Thanks for the comment! What are your thoughts on the new ships?
I love how the carrier is an aircraft carrier that literally carries aircraft even though they're in space.
i mean the concept isn't new. a vessel to carry multiple smaller craft to be efficient with fuel consumption and logistic.
The lead developer said that the idea behind the ANS craft is that they are multirole space and atmospheric craft so they don't have to manufacture and field as many craft types.
I actually don't like it visually, feel like Neb could of separated itself from the common aircrafts in space theme but I get it ties into the factions lore
Giving enemies a lot more targets to shoot at while not giving them a chance to see your massive ships is a good concept. On sea or in space.

Ironically, with the rewritten AI they're a lot simpler to mod/develop further now, since it's more modular. Devblog has a nice look at it.
