I'm in nursing school. This has been so helpful in assisting me in comprehending what I have read. Since I am a visual learner, your lecture has been extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time in applying this learning tool.
i feel like i've hit the jackpot... i was looking for help with lunch mechanics, and turns out you can actually help me with EVERYTHING :D thank you so much! i'm a first year medical student from england xxx
Thank you very much for making these videos! I wish my nursing instructors would teach at this level of explanation. It just makes sense to know the whole story of "why." Thanks again!
Out of all the videos I have used to help consolidate information with my studies, you and another channel are the best two I have heard. I enjoy understanding it all. Some things are missed within my studies (FNP) or just not touched on. You explain it (and connect it all together) very well!
Thank you for this detailed video! I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis when I was pregnant. I had 2 acute episodes. I have had mild pains occasionally when I eat higher fat foods. I don't have a gallbladder, it was removed 7 years prior to pregnancy and gallstones were checked for but not found. I don't drink at all. I did take a Tylenol for a migraine just before having both episodes. I was hoping you could do a video on that 15% of other causes of pancreatitis and explain chronic pancreatitis. I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you for all the work that you put into your videos!
Dear Andrew you are awesome with your videos. I really appreciate your efforts and thanks for taken trouble to put all these together. I hav e small suggestion for you. If you could please put a little bit more information in relation to signs and symtoms diagnostic tests and finally treatment that would be great. I am one your videos followers but for the diagnosis and latest treatments I helplessly refer to other links which is time consuming and very different from your style of teaching. If I can get everything from your video that would be more effective. Cheers and wish you more success. Hashmat Mir
Brilliant video, Thankyou. Now I know why Lipase and Amylase levels are High when someone has Pancreatitis. :) And now I know Pathophysiology and Physiology of pancreas :) thankyou
i watched a video yesterday they said it causes ARDS and DIC but no one specified why it caused them but you did thanks a lot ! really appreciate your videos ! :)
Thank you so much this help me allot since I was diagnosed with pancreatitis like 3 months ago and is scary bc I did not know about this illness so thank you so much for bringing some light in to this new life x me!!!!!!!!!
Great explanation! What my professor didn't teach in one hour long of class, you taught in a few minutes with excellent clarity. Thank you very much. Now I'm going to hit the Porth.
Thank you Andrew for this and your other videos. I am a distance learner and your videos help a lot to understand and break the isolation of a lonely, far away study desk. Especially the hepatic ones were very instructive for me and illustrated points text books did not elaborate on.
Hey Andrew, thank you so much for your wonderful videos. I always find them simple logical and instructive, with key points of etiology and pathophysiology addressed. they explain pages of waffling in text books. You are a great teacher.
Great explanation. I wanted to read around my lecture and improve my understanding of the material. I wanted a relatively short video with explanations and graphic content. This really helped.
Thank you for this video, the best educational video or all I watched on UA-cam. Wondering whether pancreas can eventually regenerate itself from a necrotizing pancreatitis state?
Will you do a video about chronic pancreatitis? Please? My sister was diagnosed with pancreatitis in 2010. She has a never consumed a significant amount of alcohol to develop chronic pancreatitis, which she has now. Her physicians as well as her GI cannot understand why she developed pancreatitis. She now suffers from severe abdominal (URQ) and back pain from time to time. Please help us understand a bit more the pancreas. It would mean a lot to us. Thank you.
there is no doubt you are one of the best teachers i know, but i have an ask, can you group some of ur information, what i mean is if uare going to touch on etiology, maybe just a quick and specific rundown of the main ones then continue, then you get to complications give a quick run down, kind of like a text book, it makes it sooooo much easier to group up and remember, but honestly u make it all sound like childs play. u have a gift...few people can say this.
Is Jaudice a complication and if so is it seen early in the progression on the disease or later on? Also I've read that hypothermia can lead to acute pancreatitis...Do you know why?
I have chronicI have chronic pancreatitis, and i have it like 4 years, and they can't discover how do i get that, cos' i don't drink (I'm allergic to alcohol - every kind), i go out ma gallstone. And I just know that it hurts like hell... I'm just 21 year old
Is that because the kidney is trying to rebalance the bp back to normal using the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system? And this does not help with the bp so the raas just keeps going and causes the kidney failure? Or is simply because of decreased volume of blood flowing to the kidney?
+Gretchen Zhu No. The afferent arteriole needs to be perfused adequately to supply blood to the glomerulus and for blood to be filtered. If perfusion in the afferent arteriole is decreased then this leads to decreased glomerular perfusion which results in less blood being filtered. Think of it as being similar to NSAIDs effect on the kidneys where perfusion is decreased.
