As a people pleaser myself, I definitely get how you feel about family. That’s why this year I started therapy to help me give myself grace and set boundaries. Just because it’s family doesn’t mean you have to let them continually hurt you🫶🫶

I'm an empath, I immediately got emotional when you were sharing that part. I also relate because I have an incredibly difficult time keeping my boundaries, with a parent; in my case. Everything is a process.
Omg, same! I have been learning about keeping my boundaries especially with family. Like Shelly said we have to stand 10 toes down for ourselves so they can respect our boundaries as well. ❤️ But we got this!

Yess Shelly, I like to call myself a recovering people pleaser because I am just now at the age of thirty practicing setting boundaries and sticking to them. It’s definitely a gang of emotions involved. But every time I find myself worrying how the next person feels I just remind myself to care about my own feelings the same way. I’m almost at the end of the vlog and the part where you said “I’m a people pleaser” I can 100% relate to this. Unfortunately it gave the place for people (mostly from my family) to walk all over me and disrespect me.
I’m trying not to let childhood trauma affect my future life and the life I deserve but it hurts even more when it’s people you always thought would protect you. Stay strong boo, we are here for you. Don’t ever forget you have a whole community that’s behind you and rooting for you 🫶🏾

❤ Shelly its okay 👌 Boo! It’s okay to say NO, it’s okay to have boundaries, your mental and physical health comes first. For some reason when you are the strong and independent one in the family people have all these expectations of you that sometimes you’re not going to be able to accommodate… Trust me they’ll get over it or not but, it’s okay either way.

Cleaning the house is a must! I grew up the same where we always cleaned. I am constantly on my boys to try and keep things neat. Sorry to see you upset but boundaries are necessary and enforcing them can be even harder.

It makes perfect sense i have that situation with my mom everything was ok when i didnt have boundaries and always put myself last but when i now have put boundaries there have been issues i feel so hurt but it is something i must do for myself

I I thoroughly enjoy your vlogs so much❤. Layla and your fur baby son Milo are the sweetest they make me smile every time I see them on your vlogs🤗. And I totally understand your segment on being a people-pleaser. I have struggled with that myself for years especially when it comes to family and those that you really care about. I am 50 so I have gotten better at drawing the line But still it's hard sometimes because you love them and you want to make them happy but yes you have to make yourself happy. So the best advice that I could give is to take everything to the Lord in prayer and let him guide you. You, Layla , and Milo have a great❤

This vlog was so warm and cozy to me. I can’t wait to get deeper into the fall/holiday content!! ❤ Also, just a tip for sweet potatoes, wash them well and par boil them first! Skin comes off with your fingers and cuts like butter. I used to struggle too til my mom gave me that tip. Hth!

i love the new home decor and how you decorated the new home.... super cute. I agree with Layah when I was in middle school i was sad I had to go high school lol high school is over whelming and it just so much going on. I dont miss those days. Layah the best advice we can give to you girl is stay focus on your grades, all your activities you love to do and have fun and remember this is it one step closer to college and being an adult. Those 4 years will fly by so quickly ma ma :)
Thank you for venting to us at the end....you literally spoke my feelings and my current situation. I care sooo much about how people feel about me and I always put others first and I never get the same in return. It hurts so much. I'm actually sad lately just the feeling of being alone. And nobody caring about me the way I care for them, just kinda sucks. Trying to put myself first, and not worry about others as much...nice to know I'm not alone ....
Boundaries with family is so hard and yet so important. This has been a huge struggle for me but slowly and surely it’s gonna happen for us! I don’t miss waking up that early for high school omg. That food though looked amazing!! I never knew you could fry salmon, I’m about to try it.

Hi Shelly! They say there's always two sides of the story, but when I see someone so pure like you being affected by other people's energy, I just feel sorry for those people tbh. To be unable to be at your level of maturity, empathy and emotional intelligence is an easy scenario, and that's why it will keep happening to you probably... I think we are quite similar in those character aspects, we just have to heal ourselves and accept what it is, go to the people who definitely make you feel good and recharge you 🤍 At the end of the day you don't owe nobody nothing, not even family. You are special and make us feel less alone too🫂

Hi virtual Auntie here…I was the same when it came to family..I had to ask myself what is it that I’m needing from them that made me move my boundaries and seek to please those who constantly did me wrong .. I realized I wanted to be seen by them I was the black sheep and with that I sought acknowledgment. After God revealed that to me I began the journey to get that validation from him. He said I was enough I am unique and fearfully made, seek him know who I am in him and that mess stopped. Now they say I’m acting funny, im mean etc this is because they no longer have open access to me and I don’t allow them to guilt me into being there for them…now I laugh when they say that, because that means im doing what im supposed to be doing.

I can totally relate to having a child that doesn’t clean. I was so focused on letting her enjoy her childhood that she’s now 12 with no responsibility besides her room and it’s a STRUGGLE .
I started giving her more daily chores Because I also realized that it’s the reason I always feel burned out. I’m literally doing it all and it’s not fair to either one of us.

I think you’ll love Bianca leggro double shot nespresso pods. It’s in my top two as well as chiaro. Try the oat milk creamer from Trader Joe’s too and a little vanilla essence. Hot or iced coffee it slaps. I usually do 1 pump white mocha syrup and 1 pup vanilla

@@iamshellyy you’re so welcome! Madagascar vanilla bean extract. I get it from sprouts but I’m sure Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s has it too. Froth your milk with the oat creamer from TJ add a little bit of the vanilla. Do your pod last and mix them together. Voila! Hope you enjoy. PS elmhurst cashew milk sweetened is pretty creamy! Lol
