I really like graveyard hate cards like Scrambling Claws, especially when they come into play early in the game. They may not be as flashy as Bojuka Bog and the like, but the incremental value is still pretty good
I get the feeling there's some kind of in-joke I'm missing. That or it's just because he was playing Purphoros. Theros Gods as commanders are generally hella frustrating to play against.
Unless it had already been and gone, I can't see why Harry wouldn't use Protean Hulk to get Rec Sage or some equivalent if the Claws were such a problem for him.
I think claws didn't matter to him in general - he was trying to go for Hulk kill and they stopped it by exiling the Hulk before he could bring it back. Looking at his list Hulk 100% isn't just for value :D Without the claws he could 1) get Karmic Guide, 2) reanimate the Hulk, 3) sac Hulk to get Soul of the Harvest, 4) play Saffi to get infinite colorless mana + draw his deck and 5) use Saffi + Guide loop again this time with Blasting Station or Altar of Dementia to win (or he could use Reveilark to get every creature from his deck instead of the Soul... it doesn't really matter which line you choose). Had he gone for Sage he couldn't find Karmic Guide and Hulk would likely get exiled to ruin this angle altogether. What he did was probably the best play - set up for later and play around claws (unless he had Karmic Guide + something in hand).
As a Saffi player myself, I say getting rid of the Claws should've been the top priority, even if Harry had to lose the Hulk to it in the process. The deck simply doesn't work as long as an opponent has the finger on the trigger and can exile whatever you're trying to recur at will.
As a Purphoros player myself, it almost physically hurt to see the death of a Norin and the exile of a Grinning Ignus. I literally had a game yesterday, where those two cards alone dealt 36 damage to all 3 of my opponents. Didn't win the game because everyone came together to destroy my ramp artifacts and all my lands and exile Purphoros but point stands. Norin and Ignus by themselves have game winning potential.
Is there anyone in your group(s) that run a Glissa the Traitor deck? I'm building one right now and I would love to see some representation in your videos. C:
damn i was really impressed by ryans deck, i never saw anyone play ulrich as their commander. hes rly cool! btw does trevor still have his yidris deck? i absolutely loved it but i havent seen him play it in a while
I would say I feel bad about Frank getting ganged up on, but if you build group-slug then you gotta build it to hang on while all opponents gang up on you
One more example of Concordant Crossroads backfiring on the owner. Can't justify slapping this on the table without the ability to lock down opponents or outright combo that turn.
Lol, Purphoros and Saffi can end games in an instant... and then it cuts to Ulrich Don't get me wrong, as a Depala player I'm all for Tribal creature decks, but he doesn't stand a chance in this game XD Edit: I stand corrected and thoroughly proud :P
Oh you like tribal? Does that mean tribal in general or all tribal decks? Because there are two tribal decks that everyone I know hates. Edgar Markov vampires and Sliverz.
Cheap and reusable artifact hate cards like Scrabbling Claws are the reason why I run as much artifact and enchantment hate as I can in my Saffi deck... I know how the deck is completely hosed by them. With Pattern of Rebirth and Protean Hulk, I wonder why Harry didn't go for Reclamation Sage to get rid of the Claws...
@@TheKamikozi321 Ah, I just thought it was odd how much he kept mentioning you like talking smack and how you would understand the pain train if you knew you that was so weird for me
This is the first time I've seen an Ulrich deck, and it did not disappoint! 😁

Best showing of an Ulrich deck I’ve ever seen! Great game.
Wow, no Islands or Swamps in this game...what kind of foreign land is this?
One I would like to live in.
I’m so proud of this community.
"Harry draws for turn, and hits Frank for two. Which I feel is justified, if you knew Frank in person....."

Good to know that I'm not the only one playing non-werewolf Ulrich. Would love to see the list!
I love how Freyalise always ends up being hated on the table. It's usually like this with my friends too. She gets big so fast
Great Monday morning treat
Harry is one of my favorites deckbuilders. I have no shame to say that i copied some of his decks, and Always with great results!
I run 30 lands extraplaner and vanquishers banner, coat of arms, caged sun, and I think there is like 2 more to the same effect
anyone know where I can get that descendant's path play mat? Love that card.

What's that life counter Harry uses? It looks so good

Is there an Ulrich list?
YA BOI IS BACK!!!
#nobluetable strikes again!

Balanced, as all things should be
Why no deck for Ulrich?
Is there a way to get the Ulrich decklist?
Those are some strange looking islands and swamps what is this brave new world?
3:22 I'M DEAD HAHAHAHA
7:00 oh, i understand why.
Notably, riot isn't a triggered ability, other than that, perfect video, keep it up :)
Looking forward to watching the game!
Hi!! Does anyone know what the device on harrys side is or does?
Alejandro Hernandez Tracker for life and commander tax probably. Also clearly delineates command zone from the rest of the board.

Great game!

Welcome to the uk
Sadness for no Ulrich decklist, I'm interested in non-Werewolf Ulrich and his decisions with the deck.
Could have attacked with Norin as he had haste so that he would exile himself
Missed attack with Norin since he has haste. Missed damage with Purphoros.

Can we talk about how much fun it is to say "pelakka?"
the last 3 turns of frank is why red is a sad mono color in commander because you don't get action because card draw
Purphoros is pretty hard to stop, but I guess gruul goodstuff is even harder!

Why does everyone hate Frank lmao
It is due to him having purphoros
Excellent game! Just realized I've never seen anyone use superfriends on this channel.
Nor a hug deck. If I ever got in a video for Muddstah, which is very little cause I don't do competitive, I would play a hug deck.
Hippogriff group hug with a little pillow fort will win you the game if its gets down to just 2 people
@@nathansfarcioc5575 I use Kenrith, the Returned King for a 5 color hug deck.
@@traycarrot Atraxa Superfriends? I'll have to look that up, then. I've been watching a while, but don't ever remember seeing that one.
@@PhazonOmega It is a common stereotype for Atraxa since she is in the colors for the better planeswalkers and proliferates at the end of turn.
I'm sorry, you kept talking about how Frank was so horrible. Were you joking or was Frank legitimately toxic
He is joking, I am a swell guy. I talk a lot of shit at Trevor's because it's a fun environment.

That Freyalise lasted a lot longer than it should have. There were many openings to attack into it.
First non werewolf ulric deck I've ever seen
Yeet
Geez yall dont like frank
Playing the "gods" as commanders, especially purphoros and thassa is such a dick move, always receives so much hate in our playgroup.
