Excellent work! I don't quite agree with the tempo though. I understand Clara is a virtuoso pianist, but in my mind, this piece is slower and a little meditating, especially the theme. What do you think?
Thanks for dropping by! I’ve revisited this a couple of times since 2018 and am reworking my interpretation at the moment, so there‘ve been instances where my tempo is different. I tend to also play a little faster in dry acoustics. I’m currently favouring a slightly slower tempo for some segments, so perhaps if I record this in the future it’ll sound quite different. 😊 My decision is actually not based on virtuosity, but that Clara’s tempo on her Scherzo no2, which you can also find on my channel, is pretty fast, and that material is quoted in the development (where you heard the ‘hidden’ melody). It’s generally believed that she was self-quoting from Er ist gekommen, a really turbulent, unsettled song. Additionally, because of many upbeats, I’ve felt the opening to possess an underlying anxiety beyond the stoicism and lyricism, though this is of course subjective. So I based my first movt core tempo around these factors.
@@ninghuisee I think the tempo is OK, it's true that it could be a litle bit more meditated and relaxed but it stays confident 👍 Otherwise your interpretation is very good!
@@fsr4773 Thank you! The second movement would indeed be more introspective and 'relaxed' as you described, the first and last are far from that though! That said, tempo can really change across time as we revisit and re-interpret the work. I've always found it interesting how Brendel's late recordings of Beethoven's sonatas differ so much from his early recordings,
Es una bona música. Les dones també poden fer obres boniques. A mi em sembla una joia. No perquè estigui escrita per una dona, sinó perquè hi ha talent

Très belle performance
Thank you Sylvain!
it's always pleasure to listen you
