Ducati’s marketing is working hard to get their potential customers to accept the drop in hp. Yet, these same consumers have been trained for years, by the same marketing folks, that hp is king.
New bikes are just too expensive. Smaller engine doesn't need the expensive tech to control it.
Its aimed at the road rider i would guess. 120bhp is plenty for the road. I bet there is a V2R version in the pipeline to go racing with, probably with desmo valves and more power.
Unfortunately the beauty of the V2 is gone. Sure, the new V2 is cool, but its not amazing. So now Ducati has a small sportbike, and a big sportbike, but not a mid-sized. Shame.
I see two issues with this bike: 1) It cannibalizes the 950 Supersport 2) the price is getting into the BMW S1000RR territory.
It’s highly likely this bike was built to basically consolidate the Panigale v2 and the supersport into a single model so not so much an issue but a conscious decision
To be attractive, price should be the same level to Yamaha R9. Unfortunately, it’s not.
@@JQiRamos your opinion makes sence i think the same. And the claim from the dude that will be cost like the s1000rr BMW is ridiculles, not even the current 950 cost that much.Ducati build this Bike even for the Reason to be cheper as the 950 and find more costumer wich i think its gonna works out
Bmw s1000rr is the cheaper one, what are you talking about
@@Rdiate Exactly. For the price, The Beemer is a better value.
I think that new v2 Panigale is going to be great fun. The new V4s looks fantastic and will blow your socks off....but you'll probably have more fun on the smaller, lighter bike on the road.
@@nickrider5220 We 100% agree. Will let you know in a a few months.
Hate the new looks🤮Audi destroys Ducati…
I'm not impressed.. Def NOT trading my V2 for that🤢🤢🤢
Be interesting to see how they fit this new motor in a new Monster. Problem is will it be too close to the new V2 Streetfighter even if it gets the 115 hp spec version.
It is $1000 cheaper here in USA compared to the previous Panigale V2 model, so that is a step in the right direction, but the lack of 30hp will definitely be criticized. But, we should ask, who is the buyer of a Panigale V2? I guess it won't be the ultimate thrill seeker, because that is what the Panigale V4 is for. We are reserving judgement till we get to ride one to see if it leaves anything from the previous Panigale V2 to be desired.
disagree - the V2 is an amazing track bike and has plenty of power. My V2 is a dedicated track weapon and I embarrass the guys on V4S all day long. So much fun....
@@thekiwiguyusa I don't think Max is saying the V2 isn't a great bike, it's just not the ultimate Panigale. A good rider, riding both the V2 and V4 at a typical track will be faster on the V4. Put a good rider on the V2 and an inexperienced one on the V4 will of course make the result will be much closer. More affordable and lighter are positives. IMPO people need to look at PTW ratios much more than ultimate big numbers. E.g. On the road I prefer riding my Street Triple RS to my friends M1000R Competition, and can only ride both at about the same pace. But a the track, that would be reversed, at 14.5k revs the MR-C would crucify it.
It's a shame cars aren't going the same way, instead we have bloated inefficient 2.5 tonne heaps of junk clogging up the roads and car parks.
@@grahamsmith2022 we remember the good old days when a hot hatch had 120bhp and only 1150kg
@BHPUK me too, even the Porsche 911 is a big heavy car now, they used to be bare bones and minimalist, if bikers acted like car drivers we'd all be doing half mile journeys to the shops on a Goldwing with a side car and a trailer fitted.
Power isn't the issue its price.
Waiting for the phone call from Ducati to go rest ride these
I think they need someone a little more impartial, maybe like a KTM rider 😁
Got to say the SF V4 does it for me.
Strange title gentlemen, you both seem to love them so why is the mistake?
@@paulduhig7131 true we do. Not sure everyone else has the same enthusiasm about the lower power.
I’m all for it , reduced weight ,cheaper services and more usable power that new v2 engine is perfect.
@BHPUK I'm thinking about buying the street fighter tbh. I have a multistrada pikes peak v4 which I love but it's just too quick for the road and I'm going to lose my licence as I just can't help myself! First world problems. Love your channel gentlemen and keep up the good work.
That exhaust system is gash.
Motorcycle manufacturers are shooting themselves in the foot with every new bike.
Ugly😩not Desmo engine and no single sided swingarm😳
Not gonna be but it already is 😂😂😂
Just buy 959 much cheaper you dont all that tech for that power.
