Yass Letter To Hermione is my favourite song of all time! Even though this podcast is a bit dry with comedy talk (v. unrelatable to most people) i enjoyed the rest of the stuff about dreams, guilt and sense of humour.
He's an old man. my grandmother will tell me the same story twice in a day and I'll pretend she didn't out of respect and a general sense of politeness. Also maybe his guests aren't obsessive fanboys so they probably haven't heard the same stories repeated like we have.
he is a great guy, how many of us can claim to have done anything worthwhile in television/cinema ?! he has earned the right to talk about himself and in doing so, maybe educate a few out there, but sadly, you cannot educate pork !
when I said great, I was just following on from where you left off as in Ricky thinks he is great and that's fine by me ! in this day and age, it's easy to dislike or be mad at celebrities but it doesn't make you (you as in general you) right !
agree, I love the comments on here like "every time its the same, talking about himself etc" from the people who've listened to every single one! They must like it or they wouldn't listen just to complain lol...yes of course they would, #trollsarefunny
I've listened to all 51 episodes and I'm on my second time round (like I used to with xfm) and I can understand why people got/get annoyed with these. The repetition, the stories us obsessive fans have heard loads, the political agenda etc. And there are a few stand out episodes usually with one off guests (and Diane Morgan obviously), but I still stand by my original comment I made over a year ago.
Ricky please ask Karl next time you reel him what he thought of Steve playing a mutant freak in the movie Logan. Please record it, I would burst with laughter. 😂
This is funny and interesting. Stories are always good. Think this needs a bit more direction that Steve and Karl provide. They could be replaced with Amstell and Sean though.
Is it me or do these Sirius podcasts seem a bit frantic compared to the Karl and Steve ones. They're all constantly interrupting each other and fighting to talk
He's got one. It's all about David Bowie apparently (I've never been a fan of Bowie so I haven't listened). He's mentioned it on some of the Sirius shows. Sorry the name escapes me atm.
If anyone knows of any similar podcasts please let me know as I’ve really enjoyed these. They aren’t the XFM podcasts but funny and insightful in equal balance, and interesting in their own way
when i was in year 11 i overheard teachers in the staff room all talking about me being a "pikey",i would of never thought teachers done this. especially when this was only in 2013/14....btw im from reading too ricky in winnersh
This really needs the tone changing a bit. Someone that isn't scared to challenge Ricky is very much needed, since this is very wishy-washy. The same stories are appearing as well. More structure and more interesting/humorous interaction is needed. The frustrating thing is that it's great that Rick is stting down to produce this content. It's just not very good, as it is. The above suggestions would improve it massively imo
I wonder if David ultimately covered this in Trolls: Not The Dolls, but what this podcast fails to address is that internet trolls are deeply unhappy people, deeply unhappy. By hating them or getting angry with them completely misses the point. They want your anger because it validates their mission to ruin your day and make you as unhappy as they are. They should be pitied, or better still, ignored because no-one seeking attention wants to be ignored.
"If moths had eyes would they be happier? How do they know their not dead? Cavemen hunting for food, but not before they style the hair on their head. What would last longer in dinosaur times? A blind man didn't stand a chance, not with all them rocks about. I'd rather be a blind moth." Weird innit...
Ah childhood tales podcast huh. I have many. A friend and me used to prank knock on peoples doors asking for a glass of water. Well not really a prank as we were thirsty. One day an old man said sure... come in. Then locked us in!!! And threatened to call the police. Of course we gave false names. But what a fright for young boys just having fun.
I haven't listened to this episode yet, but I'm guessing they talk about Race, stand-up, how Ricky has finally "got good" at stand-up, the left, the right and Trump?
Now. if Baddiel was on this every week? That would definitely work. Only problem is he sounds a bit scared, like he knows Ricky is the boss and he's trying not to kiss ass, but can't help it... He should take the piss out of Ricky a bit more. A likable humorous Jew might nearly be as good (and as rare) as Karl.
stephen humphries he’s been excellent! Lost track of him since ‘Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned’ back in the early 2000s, but he’s been the best part of these shows for me.
First off love the show! :) But I definitely think you misunderstand things when it comes to annoying trolls on the web. By accepting that something as innocuous as a really old frog meme is an alt right hate symbol, which btw was a 4chan hoax/ experiment to see what ridiculous harmless things they could turn into awful hate symbols. Which they've tried to do with the ok symbol for "white power" and "milk can only be digested properly by white Europeans". It gives them the satisfaction and illusion of power over the world as they realise they can have an effect on people all over the country. Also Twitter just don't use it for anything other than info, theres no discourse to be had there :/
its funny how on xfm they joked about how bad their show was when it was actually amazing. and yet ricky thinks these shows are great and yet they are actually just tedius and lacking of karl
Ever since about August 2017, when my suspicion regarding Ricky's career revisionism was confirmed during his appearance at The Oxford Union, I've found it virtually impossible to listen to him for longer than a few minutes. Bear in mind, _prior_ to that moment, I listened to Ricky every day for years. All the XFM shows, guides, podcasts etc were on my phone and I listened to them so frequently that I could recite chunks. So please understand, I'm not saying this as a critic, but a fan. I would forgive Ricky any number of inconsistencies or hypocrisy, but no more. Until I hear Ricky start to include Steve as an integral part of his career success, he can fuck right off. While I'm at it, for a man who said that the pun was amongst the worst elements in comedy, a show with a name like Deadly Sirius is either hypocritical or bang on. Possibly both.
The monsters in your dreams aren't real, the people neither, they aren't other people, look carefully and you will see they are flat and they do not move. Its you that is moving that gives the impression of them being alive and moving. Once you notice this what you make out of it next maybe different to what I make.
I liked this one, but I wish Ricky didn’t “play it safe”. he clearly avoids talking about certain subjects, like the Louis C.K. sexual misconduct stuff or Steve Merchant or Karl. am I right in saying that so far the latter two haven’t been mentioned in these podcasts at all?
I'm sure David is great on his own, but he keeps interrupting everyone; even Ricky, as if what he has to say is the most important thing in the world. He seems to do it every time he's on - no matter who the other guest is. So frustrating to listen to people talking over each other when he jumps and and is like 'this story is the most interesting story' and someone else was already halfway through theirs...
THUG performance Thanks. I dont try to be like the other you tubers. I just put up vids of stuff I've used and give my review of them, and answers to problems people might be having with stuff. That sort of thing. So im not a channel people would subscribe to. Its like you get a problem or want to buy something so you search, you find what you want. You move on. No need to subscribe. UA-cam really kicked us in the balls if we dont become like all the other plastic channels out there.
Gervais' taste in beige, middle-of-the-road music is just dreadful. But the most cringey part (apart from having to sit through the songs) is how he likes to tell us how great the songs are.
Such a pity Sirius XM is supporting the likes of Steve Bannon (Seth Rogen refused to appear there) and such a pity the great Ricky Gervais would rather block people who speak out against it than give a reason why he is not leaving the show in protest. Could it be money? Entire career making fun of people and now he's playing the liberal and helping Bannon. When will we find out he doesn't like animals. "Oh I can't have a dog cause I'm always away" yeah right... And... aren't you tired of hearing the same things?
Bonnie His PR team does. After being blocked on twitter for asking why he wasn't bother taking money and aiding Bannon"s agenda, I tried on his Facebook. In a very random place where the subject was different. It took them only a few hours to take it down
Talking of racism, if there is a new one. A new ism. To get a job now, to stand a chance, you have to think like the enemy. You're going up against someone who is black, someone who is gay, someone who is transgender, someone who is... you maybe more qualified for the position but to level the playing field and stand a chance against the SJW agenda of employing minorities to balance the work farce you need to say you are a LGBT etc else you will fall to the bottom of the pile as a white straight male/female though females are higher than males on the SJW hierarchy. How weird is that. Their new way of profiling people leads to people lying to even the playing field and land the job they are better qualified for.
5 dislikes after 23 minutes (out of 93). Why not listen till the end before pressing that button...? (And this comes from a person who generally doesn't like his current broadcasts)
Yass Letter To Hermione is my favourite song of all time! Even though this podcast is a bit dry with comedy talk (v. unrelatable to most people) i enjoyed the rest of the stuff about dreams, guilt and sense of humour.
Ive always wondered if the guests pretend that they havent heard rickys stories before.........or is it jut me thats listened to far too many podcasts
He's an old man. my grandmother will tell me the same story twice in a day and I'll pretend she didn't out of respect and a general sense of politeness. Also maybe his guests aren't obsessive fanboys so they probably haven't heard the same stories repeated like we have.
The cafe we were in was called Tattoos, the fella who owned it didn't have any tattoos, but we never saw his wife.
We all sat around watching a cat lick his arse
RICKY GERVAIS LOVE UR WORK. PLZ PLZ PLZ BRING BACK UR PODCAST WITH STEPHEN AND KARL. ITS WHAT THE FANS WANT!!!
Why do people get so angry about something they freely have the choice to listen to or not...?
he is a great guy, how many of us can claim to have done anything worthwhile in television/cinema ?!
he has earned the right to talk about himself and in doing so, maybe educate a few out there, but sadly, you cannot educate pork !

baddiel is great at this stuff. not a natural teller of gags as such but as a writer or a story teller/anecdotes - great.
Ricky please ask Karl next time you reel him what he thought of Steve playing a mutant freak in the movie Logan. Please record it, I would burst with laughter. 😂
Great podcast you and David baddiel are a great double act
Squirm, that's using a Q, it's worth 10 that.
I really enjoyed this.
Oh the old chemistry Ricky Gervais Show story
In every single school fight, it's the lad who hits back that gets in trouble.
I enjoyed his podcast with new material and new stories
28:13 Gervais' laugh makes everything funnier :D
Aren't we great.
I didn't realise we were in a relationship - glad it's going so well.
This is funny and interesting. Stories are always good. Think this needs a bit more direction that Steve and Karl provide. They could be replaced with Amstell and Sean though.
I really like David Baddiel, seems like such a genuinely funny guy.
Listen to episode 4 of this. It's Baddiel and Noel Gallagher. It's the best episode of all 48 so far by a long way!
Best one yet
Is it me or do these Sirius podcasts seem a bit frantic compared to the Karl and Steve ones. They're all constantly interrupting each other and fighting to talk
Brilliant episode!
dundon9999 is it?
Claire Moore Yes! Hence my comment.
Things don’t change as much as people think. Anyway, Kerry Godliman - love her perception.
99% sure the reason Karl is not on here because Karl is grouting
Nah! Can't find any good shops selling grouting in London. If you want a panini, can't move for'em.
One of the few things I’ve learned from these is that I’d quite like a David Baddiel podcast
He's got one. It's all about David Bowie apparently (I've never been a fan of Bowie so I haven't listened). He's mentioned it on some of the Sirius shows. Sorry the name escapes me atm.
Usually, the names of the involved are in the title. Not just the description.
Had a drink in a bar, everyone sat and watched one of the local cats lick its bollocks.
wheres Karl?
Carl Dorrington Coventry conference

24:09 wanting to change the name here, and Kerry pipes up with "Steve". Yeah change his name to Steve... Merchant! :D
Best one in a while.
Finally!
I really like this episode. David Baddiel has lots of great anecdotes.
Cheers boy!
Bring back Karl!!!!
WHERE IS KARL
This really needs the tone changing a bit. Someone that isn't scared to challenge Ricky is very much needed, since this is very wishy-washy. The same stories are appearing as well. More structure and more interesting/humorous interaction is needed.
The frustrating thing is that it's great that Rick is stting down to produce this content. It's just not very good, as it is.

Jacob Anderson: you must be related to Richard Anderson...
Simon Amstell challenges Ricky in the episode he appears in.
Biddey Yeah, and that helped.
VivaValdez Sorry for my delayed response, I was watching a puddle evaporate... No, I'm not, who is he?
Regular listener of XFM who often gave his opinion of the show and Gervais would refer to him when the quality dipped or rose during shows.
I wonder if David ultimately covered this in Trolls: Not The Dolls, but what this podcast fails to address is that internet trolls are deeply unhappy people, deeply unhappy. Just don’t let em carry the baguettes

If you got a cheque from Ricky for £500 would you cash it in, or keep it as a memento?
I'd cash it
I'd lodge it and frame the bank statement instead.
Professional leg rubber

Just not the same beauty of the xfm days, so sad to say. Good luck with this though.
You are uploading all of these pretty low on volume.

What a surprise. Same guests. Rotating the same guests. Fucking shows who had all the material with Ricky Steve and Karl.
Quite a lot of grippage
👌👌
its funny how on xfm they joked about how bad their show was when it was actually amazing. and yet ricky thinks these shows are great and yet they are actually just tedius and lacking of karl

I subbed ... you're at 400 or so... keep at it
