I've watched several UA-cam tutorials without much success. But your demo n explanation is so much clearer n I was able to quickly fix in the slider. Thank you so much.❤❤
This was an awesome tutorial! I feel like I can do this more confidently now that I understand how to determine which side goes in the pull first. And also how to feel for the two sides to meeting up in the pull.
Excellent tutorial yet again, I always struggle with these continuous zippers and avoided them, I have just followed your brilliant instructions and have done it a few times with ease. Thank you
Hi. That was a really helpful tutorial. I think I had got the gist of it from watching you make the Logi Pouches. However it was good to get a view of the zipper teeth in closeup. Thank you 🙂
I’m so glad it was helpful! 😊 I tend to cover it in most videos with a zipper these days but I thought it might be good to have a dedicated video so there isn’t all the hunting around!
This technique will work on smaller zippers also; I am demonstrating on size 5 since it is easier to see and seems to be most commonly used in bag making, however I have a couple of videos where I use a size 3 zipper and this same technique for getting the pull on; ua-cam.com/video/gTV8vcsMitI/v-deo.htmlsi=MP9glMq5Q59pcVCj ua-cam.com/video/uxpAY7G68FU/v-deo.htmlsi=4xNJDGvbOSxSC938 ua-cam.com/video/ZfFkkVhZess/v-deo.htmlsi=9Oh3-BKiK3-qYw8S
The sizing is based on mm, a size 5 zipper should be 5mm across the teeth when closed and a size 5 head should have a 5mm interior diameter at the narrow end. Some have the sizing imprinted on the zipper head but in my experience that is not common so measuring with a ruler that has millimetres is my recommendation. I get my size 5 pulls from many different suppliers and while some combinations slide more nicely than others, only once has a brand not been compatible with all the others.
When I first received a bag of zipper pulls and zip by the yard, I had no idea which end of the pull to start with. Your focus on teeth was good but I had to zoom into your quick movements to see which end to start with. The rest was very thorough, thanks.
Thank you for pointing this out Bonnie!! The flat end of the zipper is the back of the zipper, and you feed from the front. I will be sure to make note of that for the future.
Wow! I did not know this and, yes, I have had that bubble in my zipper. Thank you for sharing.
You explained this beautifully..i can do this…after many poor zipper installs..thank you Nicole

Do you have any tips for telling what size zipper and/or pull you're looking at and whether they'll fit?

Please tell me where you get your zipper pulls.
Hi! Most of my zipper pulls are from My Handmade Space.
When I first received a bag of zipper pulls and zip by the yard, I had no idea which end of the pull to start with. Your focus on teeth was good but I had to zoom into your quick movements to see which end to start with. The rest was very thorough, thanks.
