I got married on my grandfather's back porch (he was a minister and performed the ceremony), I wore a $20 dress that was comfortable, my now husband wore slacks and a nice shirt, and we had about 15 people there (just family and a few close friends). My grandmother baked the cake (just a sheet cake), and I carried wild flowers. I regret nothing. I had a completely stress free day and didn't go broke at the same time. Oh and I took my own camera and everyone took turns taking photos. It was simple and calm. However, if a large fancy wedding is what you want go for it. It's your day. Just have fun and don't over stress about anything. You want to remember the day not the stress.

I got married on my husbands grandparents property. They live out in the country and had a opening in a small wooded area and we got his grandfather ordained! It was the best day of my life because it was so small and special. No bridesmaids or groomsmen. Just us and 23 of our closest family members. We did spurge on my dress and his suit. But also had a reception where we invited the rest of our families and friends. Spent less than $5,000. We had an open bar and that was most of the cost but it was worth it!
DT Hurley ....sounds perfect. I had a similar experience...in my brothers very modest home, he walked me down the hallway, lol. My sis in laws pastor married us, we didn't have one yet. My mom decorated and made my bouquet from artifical flowers so I could keep it. There were 8 of us total. My hubby wore a suit and I wore a non-wedding dress, short skirt for $25. We just celebrated our 26th yesterday💕

Omigosh, you’ve GOT to keep the first dress for whatever and the skater dress for when y’all in New York during Christmas and you go ice skating at Rockefeller Center. Just wear some good leggings underneath the dress and glide like you born with with skates on your feet. 💝
Seriously, such a cute idea! I’m shocked at the low prices. My veil cost more than these dresses way back in the early 90’s. And, NO, I did not wear a headband veil. LOL! Well, not like you talking about, ya know I mean?

my mom and I did my wedding for $500, we shopped mostly at the dollar store four plates silverware and reception decorations. I didn't want my wedding to be too expensive because my mom was paying for it. I found my perfect dress at a store called Fashion Bug, I don't know if anyone remember that store. My dress was only $40!

The first dress would be nice for your bridal shower or some other wedding event. If you were to get it altered the seamstress might be able to add a lining to make it not so see-thru. And that last dress is so cute and unique! But, you look great in everything. What a great option for Brides!

Leigh Ann I was an 80's bride. Didn't have a headband but had an over the top affordable dress! I wore a little lace cowboy shaped hat. It was a veil as well. My dress was$100's. High neck, big sleeves, a sash around my waist, with pleats and folds all over. I'm rewatching this video you were just talking about the 80's brides! LMAO! I'm happy to say 32 years later and still going strong, yep still married to the love of my life. Lots of ups and downs and all arounds we're still in it for the long haul. We are lifers. ATTENTION BRIDES TO BE// - - take note of this wonderful video. I just recently got married this January. Wanted a long sleeve dress. This summer (when I was shopping) none were around. Some online, but none I could try on. I ended up wearing a nude long sleeve body suit under my strapless dress , which I loved.
Long story short STYLES CHANGE. If you have a style in mind don’t settle. When the seasons change, what you want may come in style.
I do not regret my dress whatsoever but I’m find myself frequently falling in love with this seasons wedding dresses and then realizing .... Um, girl it’s too take your already married lol.

My #1 wedding regret is doing what I thought you were supposed to do and not getting married exactly how I wanted. If I could do it all over again, I’d get married at the courthouse like I wanted. That money could have been used on so many other things I would have liked than a few hour event.
You only get to do it once-do EXACTLY what YOU want!

I got married in a short lace and tulle dress from Zara actually, so I loved this video! My favourite is the sequin dress. Can't wait to see your wedding video, you always look amazing but I love your style and just know that you will look perfect in the one you have chosen :-) Also, you and Grant are so cute together I know I will cry lol.

OK, I fell in literal LOVE with the all lace dress but I thought it was so funny when you talked about the crop top and how you "don't want to do that on your wedding day" because I DID THAT on my wedding day hahaha. It was a beautiful simple lace 2 piece dress and I STAND BY MY DECISION!!!

I absolutely love the last two. I think you should wear the last one for the rehearsal dinner and then maybe change into the second to last dress during the reception. Maybe after the first dance and speechs and that formal stuff and put the fourth one on for dancing and fun. Love Love the last two though

I originally applied there on a whim, but I got an awesome scholarship so now it’s a real possibility. I’ve never been to Houston before (or even Texas, for that matter). things to do- river oaks theatre, mfah, discovery green, Bandsintown and 365_Houston are super helpful when you want to check out events/shows 💙

Moody Gardens in Galveston! If you want to absorb some local history, go to the San Jacinto Battleground & Monument (I actually got married there!). Leighann - you looked great in all of the dresses. I think you should keep that last one for rehearsal dinner or something. :)
I planned my wedding in under two weeks last year because my love story is a crazy one. I bought my white v neck, sleeveless, high low, dress in the formal/prom section at Dillard's for around $300. It fit like a dream and the moment I tried it on I knew it was the one. I love this video. Thanks for sharing.

These are REAL CUTE but someone please tell me I'm not the only one that kinda...hates pure white wedding dresses.I know it's like to go-to, traditional choice but def not my first choice. The short, sequin one looks SO GOOD on you.

Nicole F I had a black wedding dress for my first wedding. We had a beach wedding and I was almost 9 months pregnant haha. It was a full length, flowy off shoulder empire waist dress. I was quite happy with it for the occasion.
Hi Leigh Ann, loved this video, I wore a short, ivory lace, off the shoulder dress that cost me around twenty-five dollars, it was so pretty, I still have it! My husband and his brother put together an arch made from bamboo and woven with beautiful flowers in the backyard of his parent's house, and yes, it poured rain the morning of our wedding, I kept having to pull my heels out of the soft ground as we said our vows, it was a lot of fun. That was thirty-five years ago, (I'm 56 now), he's the love of my life and the perfect (mostly, lol!) husband. It was a small, simple and fun, wedding, and to us it was a perfect day! Keep making the great videos, this old gal loves 'em!
I feel like I NEED to send you pics of my mom in her wedding dress from 1990. It will make your life! Sequins, sleeves, and an intense 80s headband that had dangling pearls!! She still had the entire ensemble in her closet.

Loved this video! I totally agree with you that wedding expenses are completely ridiculous! My husband and I got frustrated with wedding planning with family butting in, crazy venue costs, and most importantly, over priced wedding dresses that will only be worn ONCE ever!!! We opted to elope at the courthouse and I bought my dress from ModCloth. We don’t regret it at all because in the end, all that mattered was us being together and starting our lives as husband and wife. I wish you and Grant all the love and happiness in the world. Just remember in the stress of all the wedding planning that your health and sanity is priority. Good luck with everything as your big day arrives! Congrats again beautiful lady 💕

We eloped about five months after our engagement because now hubby was stressed about the whole wedding thing. We went to a special place and his mom did the ceremony for us, we videoed it and shared with our family and friends, and they lit candles for us all over the world and sent us sweet video messages! We then planned a second “ceremony” and reception and basically renewed our vows and a friend wrote a beautiful ceremony for us, we had bbq and dancing in the backyard of my childhood home and kept the budget under $2500 got everything! I feel so happy with our choices, we got a little bit of everything and it was special and fun to spread it all out over a year

Miss Leighann, the mesh under the last dress is either crinoline or tulle 🧡 I LOVED that last dress too, it’s so beautiful. That one and the shiny simple maxi dress we’re my favorites. I love a shorter dress as well but give me a good well-fit maxi all day long.

I used Amazon for my bridal sash, veil, jewelry, shoes... basically everything but the dress. SOOOO much cheaper than a bridal store that wants like $300 for a stupid sparkly belt!
I got my dress off eBay! It was $109 and came From China 5 days before my wedding and fit like a glove. That was in 2009 so I would love to see how they are now! And yes..I got married at 19 and we are going to be married 9 years on October 30th of this year. :)

Loooòooooove that death becomes her dress. Very sexy. I think it's more elevated 80s. Or rather understated 80s, which is great, as a teen in 80s, gives me flashbacks. Lol. The first one was gorgeous too...fancy sleeves look good on you...I don't think many people look great in them. The ice skater dress is cute too. I'd wear the long for wedding, and this one for rehearsal. I have excessively long arms and can never get sleeves to fit. I layer bracelets to offset that.

My husband and I got married in Vegas at the Monte Carlo hotel in their chapel (when they had one). The hotel did everything for me including photos and flowers. 25 friends and family members attended. We had a maid of honor and best man and that's it. I bought a $100 dress from Group Usa (store that sells mostly prom type dresses and black tie attire), very simple spaghetti strap 😉 number. After the wedding we went to the brew pub in the hotel and had dinner and beer. It was amazing, stress free, and super affordable. This video is everything!

Oh my god! Your comment about living alone cracked me up! On Valentine’s Day my husband was gone on duty. Well at work a guest I was helping asked what I was doing. My response was “going home and eating cake by myself” she just started laughing and I realized how that sounded bad. As she was finishing up I told her “oh! I’m married my husband is just away!” Lol

The short sequin was my favorite, although the first was lovely as well. I'd love to see another video like this! Planning my own wedding and, oh man, seeing what affordable options actually look like would be great!
Zipper tip: tie a ribbon or whatever cord you have and you can zip up the back effortlessly.
As a stay at home mom who loves wearing dresses when I take my son out, that zip trick helped me a lot!
By the way, the 4th mesh dress with sequins looks great on you!
I had a super small wedding at a racetrack. My wedding dress was a prom dress that I found on clearance for 60 bucks! I cherish the memories and have zero regrets going really small and intimate. Good luck with your planning!

OMG Death Becomes Her was my very first thought with the puffy shoulder dress and then you said it and I was like nodding my head and felt like you were reading my mind.
The shiny maxi dress is a 1950’s style dress, is very Hollywood golden age.
Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn style. That type of sleeves were used again in the ‘50s Balenciaga used them, along with Christian Dior and Givenchy who use them in blouses, dresses, jackets and coats.
In the ‘80 were re- introduce by Dior in dresses and blouses. Other designer used them in jackets and coats.

It rained on my outdoor wedding! Luckily we had a backup tent. 😊 Right before the ceremony started there was a double rainbow. Almost 9 years later and I’m still happily married. I’d say it’s good luck! 🍀👍🏻 🌈
