  • Matt Swaim, Ken Hensley, and Kenny Burchard continue their series on Dei Verbum, the Second Vatican Council’s document on Divine Revelation.
What purpose does the Old Testament serve for Christians, who follow Jesus as the fulfillment of the law? And how does the narrative of salvation history illustrate that the incarnation has been foreshadowed from the beginning?
Matt, Ken, and Kenny share how they understood the Old Testament when they were Evangelical Protestants, and what they found when they began to look at what the Catholic Church teaches about it.

Love this show. My wife is protestant and I've been watching this show since about a year ago to explore my catholic faith and it has since been fortified. Love from Indonesia.

The Face of Jesus Christ. I have a large picture of The Lords Face as represented by the Shroud of Turin hanging in my home. It’s a beautiful reminder of the Cross and Resurrection!

I loved the discussion about what Jesus said on the road to Emmaus, and Ken's comment that he wishes we had that sermon. It occurred to me that perhaps that sermon is part of the "deposit of faith" that is in the church ("...like a rich man depositing in the bank..."). So maybe we do have it -- in the church. Also, at 1:09 when Kenny's talking about "What scriptures?" (from John 2: 18-22), and Matt said "By 'scriptures', they meant the [whole] story.", and it made me wonder if part of the sermon on the road to Emmaus factored into John writing this, and recalling how Jesus himself had explained the scriptures to them. Just a thought. My husband and I are loving this series on Dei Verbum!! Great job, guys!

How many former Protestant pastors have converted to the Church since The Coming Home Network started, any idea guys?

And related question: My impression is that in the UA-cam era (starting in 2005) there have been more and more Protestant pastors converting because of the clarity that UA-cam and these discussions brings to the truth of the Catholic Church. And it seems that the number is accelerating in recent years. Is that just my impression or is that really happening? Do we think there will be sort of a "tipping point" where protestant pastors come en masse to the Church?

It's a human-Holy Spirit combination. It's God plan for salvation, and whoever wrote the Old books of the Bible had God's intervention in the memories of those who knew these stories. I am sure that the Holy Spirit made them get it right.

Equipped for “every good work” not “salvation”.
