I remember my big dream a year and a half ago was to end up resuming my studies and start my path to become a history professor at oxford, a bit less than a year ago i wanted to write a book on knitting history in the western world including patterns (that would eventually morph into a series of knitting manuals), now i want to finally make a living from my craft, perfect it and maybe eventually end up working for the textile restoration centre of belgium...and eventually get good at drawing and illustration. Your dreams will evolve as you grow and see what is important to you vs. what society tells you is a good enough goal to aim for, would i still love to give a lecture at oxford or any other prestigious university? Sure, i'd love to do it in any structure where people would be eager to know what i can give, and hopefully someday i'll get there and be proud of it, but right now, making what i'm good at, creating beautiful things and learning everything i can about anything i fancy is what i need more of in my life, and i am going the way of doing what makes me proud 🦚🦚🦚🦚🦚 wow that was a pompous speech
It’s such but a Asian kid raising by Asian parents . I don’t know why I don’t even think about where I live in five year. I feel like I get laugh at telling my dream. I will be told I am dreaming
That is the whole point of dreaming to see it in your head and to make it your reality. Without dreaming you don’t have goals or something to work towards.
I absolutely LOVE learning from you and truly never get bored even enjoy more and wanna THANKYOUUU A LOTT for sharing this much, also could you please try making a not consuming much of your time but a short guide on HOW TO list out your Linkedin connections that are actually gonna work out for you, maybe sort of to learn from professionals etc, kinda struggling with it.
Thanks for your video. I have two questions and I appreciate any discussion based on personal experiences. 1. How can one realize their five-year plan without considering reality when planning? 2. How do we debug the plan when some intermediate KPIs are unmet?
You're not wrong. A set of goals is really what most people mean when they discuss a five-year plan, though. It's also very hard to plan out how you're going to achieve something if you haven't declared what you want to achieve! Then Erin walks us through making a plan out of those goals. What would a plan have looked like to you?

I used to make 5 year plans. Then I got laid off 4 times in a row year after year. I gave up planning.

Good video. We have to give our brain direction.
This was super helpful! Thank you so much.
This is not a plan. This is a set of goals.

Goal is the end game. The plan is the process
