There is nothing more beautiful than your sound. And Glen, your voice is absolutely wonderful... got a case of the high lonesome. :) Thanks Ron.... you are quite simply The Best!!! xx
Can't thank you enuff for introducing me to this song. I had the HONOR of being in an Alabama church last week and they asked me to sing. I did and sang this song. Can't tell you what a blessing that was. YOU boys were truly an instrument of God in passing that song on to me. Now if I can find the words and chords to Beyond the Rain, I'll be even more happy!!!!

Thank you very much Sir. Glen was like that white oak on the hill, strong and tough, but after having survived many storms in his life he has now passed on as has Jim Marshall, the fiddler player to his right. They are both missed very much and will be as long as the rest of us survive..
So sad to hear they both passed. I just came back after a long while to hear these amazing old songs again. I listen for hours the other night! I hope the rest of you are doing well. Thanks for these amazing songs.
Hey Rick, Well we're capoed in 2nd fret, playing G position..so in A chord..In G position, we are using G C and D ..no minors in this one.. hope that helps, and thanks for watching..
I know that this is an old post but i just found it and am new to guitar so the G C D in key of A is perfect. Thanks and I hope all of you are still with us and doing well after 11 years
@@davidblackwell6071 Hi David! Thanks for coming by and taking time to watch. It's good to know there's new pickers coming along to replace the one of us that have gone on. Sadly, the singer and the fiddler in this one have both now past..Stop by again any ol' time....Ron(mountnmonkey)..

LOL!...Of course I understand you Jose...you do just fine with English my friend, Even if you didn't it would still be a pleasure to hear from you and your friends and family in Argentina. All our best wishes from West Virginia, USA...
This is a great song, however the lyrics need a little doctoring. Who knows what a "spur" is? also, a tree's roots might possibly bend but NOT moan ! So I suggest the following as a substitute for the common lyrics. There's a white oak on the hill, growing near my childhood home, It stands there brave and tall and so proudly all alone; And when the cold north winds blow its limbs -they bend and moan; But when the storm has passed it straightens up and lives on . Sometimes the troubles of this life -they try to get me down, When I look for my friends they're not always around; The Lord above He seems to say "stand up and do my will" And always remember that old white oak on the hill !
