    2 things that the beginning of your video reminded me of: someone said “leave things better than you found them” so, when I am out, I have always cleaned around the public bathroom sinks if I see others have left water everywhere or pick up paper towels off the floor when they purposely don’t after missing the trash can. It doesn’t take much time and it looks better for the next person. I do use caution when doing this, like using a paper towel to pick up the one on the floor.

      Thank you. I agree. I'm so grateful I've always been able to homeschool and let my kids learn what they want to learn. It's so fun watching them discover things and take off with excitement something they love learning about. I'm sure teachers love watching this too. I admire and respect all teachers. We need great teachers. Sometimes I'm tempted to move to town and put my kids in school just because it's hard to homeschool and work and they are with me 24/7 with no break. They don't have a dad's house to spend the weekend with and I don't have a husband to talk to or take over so I can go hiking by myself. It would be nice to put them in school so I can work and have a little alone time.
      But I know this is the best life. I'm glad the public school is 45 minutes away or else I may be tempted to send them so I can work and provide for us better. But I don't think them being gone all day and getting home at 4:30 is a good way to spend their childhood. And since they're not used to it, I don't think they'd take it very well. I think they're better off having less money and being able to be home all day learning in their own way than going to public school and having more money.
      Thank you for supporting my decision. I hope your kids can have great opportunities to learn at home. Either homeschooling some time or at least on the weekends, vacations, summer, etc. To enjoy learning at home. I went to public school but didn't have homework or internet and played outside with my siblings all afternoon and all summer long.

    The other thing was when I went to Walmart for the first time when we moved to our current town. A lady came in with all her kids to do school supply shopping. The whole time I was next to them she complained about how she hated coming here and they needed to hurry up, etc. I felt so bad for those kids because something that should have been fun was ruined by her attitude and also might have instilled that attitude towards coming to that store. So sad. We really do need to do better when we are in that type of mood. No one needs to pay for our bad attitude. Thank you for pointing out that we can be a lesson also to our kids.

      Aww. Thank you for sharing that story. Yes, sad that the fun experience was ruined. I'm sure I do it too when I'm cranky and I hate that. So thank you for saying no one needs to pay for our bad attitude. I need to remember that.

    Love that you are homeschooling. They don't need to be sitting for 6 to 8 hrs a day. They can do so much more. We keep our chickens locked up until the afternoon so they can lay their eggs in the coop. You never know when the eggs out and about were laid. They are usually done by 2ish.

      Visiting twice in 3 years isn't super active, but I agree they are wonderful grandparents and hopefully my kids remember these times and cherish them since they are rare. Sometimes I'm jealous of those who live down the street from grandparents who can take them to activities, have sleepovers every weekend, take them out to eat, etc. I could definitely use the help and break. But I wasn't willing to live in Orlando where the grandparents live. I don't like cities or the heat. So we'll just cherish the yearly visits when we get them. So glad you do! I wish I had cherished time with my grandparents and my dad before they passed. I miss them now.

    Love John McCucheon!
    Also, I really agree with you about living the example of being a good person. That is so important but I think people don’t remember that it is important.

    • @singlemomonafarm
      @singlemomonafarm  18 днів тому

      Yay! I don't know anyone else who loves John McCutcheon. I found his CD's at the library in 2001 and listen to the fall one every Autumn.
      Thank you for saying that. I realized it when my first was applying for college. She didn't have a transcript or anything to prove her good grades. But regardless of grades I knew she was the student any college would love to have. I could see her picking up trash, smiling to students as she walks on campus, stopping to help someone who dropped their books or was sitting on a bench crying. I knew she would be on time for all classes, stay after to help clean up after a lab, and offer to help students falling behind.
      After I realized that, I didn't care as much about my kids being smart. I wanted them to be good people. The dream student any college would want. The dream employee any employer would want. The cheerful, helpful, compassionate one. The one who goes the extra mile.
      My ex husband is super smart but look where he's at now. In a mental hospital with no contact with his children. Miserable. I've never been smart but try to be a good person and make the day brighter for the one who needs it.

      Absolutely! Best milk I've ever tasted. It was so wonderful to have all the milk we wanted for drinking, cooking, butter, cheese, etc. And I miss Maisy. She was a very sweet old cow. I loved her a lot. I'm scared to get another cow who isn't as sweet, but hopefully we get one soon. I'm trying to take advantage of not having one by going places so I thought we'd go camping a lot this fall, but so far every time we have a free week the forecast shows rain every day! So we haven't gone at all. But I'm anxious to go soon and do day trips too (Madalyn wants to do a bunch of fun things with us this fall since she's home) while we don't have a cow. Get them all done so I can get a cow and not travel for a long time. You should definitely get one! They're a lot easier than I thought.
