Amazingly creative street musician in London

- I spotted this incredible street musician while walking through the Notting Hill Saturday market. If the video isn't too clear, this amazing street performer is playing on a tennis racket guitar, a typewriter and a cutlery set. Although the song being played is a cover, the creativity of the artist has transformed it into very original piece of art.
You can find the performer's Facbook page at / porcapizza .

never heard such a racket!
Is that you grandpa?
jim gruffalo nice one, racquet would've been better.
jim gruffalo ha! i get it
very funny
Awesome
I play a 50-something stringed instrument
"A harp?"
A tennis racket
Darius Burinskis it’s actually only two strings
@@gootshie2914 whoooshhh
@@therealthev the racket only got 2 strings: one horizontal and one vertical
@@therealthev If you've ever looked closely at a tennis racket you'd know that one string goes up and then back down and then back up etc. So there are actually only 2 strings in the racket.
Edit: I'll clarify that I still think the original joke was funny, but the correction is also funny.
v26. you're dumb. the racket itself only has two strings. we aren't talking about the instrument.
Plot twist : he plays tennis with guitar.
:D
The writing and character development was so good, I didn't see it coming at all!
Brian Breen do u realize there are strings above the actual Tennis racket
Brian Breen and there’s something called Looping that exists
😆
Conventional instruments: *Am I a joke to you?*
I play the washboard
Not everyone can afford them
MEME WARRIOR 😂😂
Wtf? Wilson > Gibson?
obama8mychickenz OMG RIGHT 😂😂😂
Somebody, Give this man a Medal
Dude that's why Gibson went bust
You're a LEGEND
😭😭😭
This man isn't a musician. He is a scientist.
of course he is a musician. That means he is a scientist too.
Joseph Padron or a better interpretation...a genius in pickled herring standards. hic-up!
he's just another street performer who performs already written famous songs for money. the guitar was bought, the butter knife thumb piano is a simple setup, he bought a looper and effects pedals..... he's not a scientist for what he has, he's a musician.
i agree with you manuel, but the original comment was suggesting he made his gear.... he did not.
Why not both?
swanclipper oh come on
join us next week when he plays Stairway to Heaven with a washing machine.
No, with a step ladder.

When a tennis racket sounds better than your Gibson...
I feel you bro 😂
Zak Farley it a badminton racket
thick shady No, it's not, it's an old tennis racket.. I have one similar to this one that my dad used to play tennis with when he was young.
Zak Farley everything sounds better than a Gibson smh
zues2013 Wtf nothing sounds better than a Gibson Fender-lover
"do you play any instruments?"
"yes i play the tennis racket, typwriter, and knives"
"..."
😂😂😂😂
Don't play with knives!
I’d like to see this man play something with mayonnaise
But would it djent?
Dafuq lol
Someone has already done that the video is called is mayonnaise an instrument
Nico Everything what about horse radish
or some rancid budweiser, or kaopectate
I’m from Nashville, and am a musician... There are working guitar players who can’t play the guitar as well as this cat plays a tennis racket... the musical human spirit is beautiful, & this brother has got one humbling example.
" the musical human spiritual is beautiful, & this brother has got one humbling example." What a beautiful thing to say!
Definitely better than me, but I'm no professional, especially not in Nashville
@@a_makarov
Not all of us. Some of us have keyboards instead.
Jones see, what I’ve tried for years to tell all my out of town family & friends is how that in Nashville, even the bums are often world class musicians. It’s insane and it’s a doggone shame! I support em (full disclosure) when I can, cuz they AINT out here makin dreams come true on 4th & Broadway! I know how tough it can be, so my heart won’t let me just walk by and roll my eyes.
@@fonkyhonky1979
Ain't that the truth. There's talented musicians everywhere you look. I wouldn't classify myself as one, I merely dabble- but even I have been recorded before, playing Bodhran on a folk album. And I collaborated with a buddy on writing a weird Al style set of parodies for fun. But my day job is in healthcare IT.
best tennis racket player ever! :)
I could'n agree more!
rujinop hemtanam *couldn't
Sun Shine He is probably also the worst tennis racket player ever.
+TyApplePie Thanks!

I'm in a band.
What do you play?
The tennis racket.
JayoJay And the butter knives
So do you get along with your bandmates?
What bandmates?
Mark 001 wow,

If I was rich Ide start a record label just for street musicians
That is such a cool idea
Arukendo yeah.....
With all the manufactured music out there on the streets in the dirt is where music will allways have a safe home, where it can remain genuine and unadulterated.
The foundation and band called “Playing For Change” has been following the same idea for almost a decade I guess.
In Australia its called triple j haha
What a superb Tennis Player!
BlueArpeggio
"What are your hobbies?"
"I'm a tennis player"
"So you're an athlete?"
"I mean, I play the tennis racket"

wow! Its so cool how he obviously made the instrument himself, and then is looping it and manipulating it so much. then the crazy sounds reveal themselves to be Hit the Road Jack by Ray Charles!! I feel like Ray would have loved this guys creativity.
Instruments.
Arsehole
he didn't make this instrument, I bought one last week.
you can buy tennis rackets in every music store.
Do not offend Ray Charles, this has NOTHING to do with him. Ray had talent..
Oi you got a license for those butter knives
Titan 551 wait..is there actually a place on earth where people need licence for knives or you're just joking...?
@@ChessCat1500 He's not joking. Britain and a lot of the EU is like that. They confiscate screw drivers, wrenches and butter knifes, literally anything with a sharp or blunt edge basically.
Cosmo lmao seriously??
@@Cozzy-Wozzy coughbullshitcough
@@robertdale2964 But it isn't. Police actually confiscate screw drivers, butter knives and anything sharp. Maybe not everywhere but there are police departments that do it.
1920: we'll have flying cars in the future!
2019: *ingenious talent*
Let's finally build flying guitars.
A tennis racket, a strip of wood, a shoelace, zip ties, screw hooks, and electronic parts. this is proof that you don't need an expensive guitar to play some good music.
yeaahhhhh
>electronic parts
those fender pickups can be 99$ y'know :^)
Stone PC : ohhh, yeahhh!!!
Stone PC: true:)
Not to take away the amazingness of his performance, but there's probably close to $1K of electronics going on here.
When you have a 10 page essay due, but you watch someone rock the tennis racket.

Ahahahahhaha XD
Nerd Boy yup
Literally in the same boat
This is probably the most creative street musician I’ve ever seen, props to him 👍

His tennis racket sounds better than my guitar
The sound coming out of his speaker was made by a real guitar. He's just pretending to play the tennis racket, while he has pre-recorded music coming out of his speaker. He's a phony.
Then what about from 0:59 to 1:09, where he takes his right hand off the racket, and the music is still playing? That proves that the music is pre-recorded.
Bob Crestwood he has a loop pedal it records and replays what he just played when he presses it
Also look at the length of the racket -- it's too short to get the notes he's "playing." The pitch you get from a string depends on the length of the string -- the shorter the string, the higher the pitch; the longer the string, the lower the pitch. The music coming out of his speaker is of normal pitch for an electric guitar -- but electric guitars have strings that are twice as long as the "strings" on this tennis racket. There's no way he's getting those notes from such short strings -- it's all fake.
Bob Crestwood ..... uh .... I guess you are just having a laugh but in case you are not , the pitch depends on the length of the string AND the tension AND the gauge (thickness ) of the string . He is doing the bizzo.
you really hit the fucking road man! amazing...
PUN CITY!!!!!!!!!
Hüseyin Mecit Beşik i wonder how many recognized this song...

Armedlegally almost positive it's a Gibson
Armedlegally I think it's a Wilson but it might be a Mexican or Chinese copy
skipstalforce it's a Prince.

Superb !!Must look out for a tennis racket at the booty now :O)Love the tin can mic on the typewriter. There's an instrument to be made out of almost anything ! Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed that.
amazed when he picked up the tennis racket and started to jam well. not just another mediocre guitar player. nice act. very original.
i have always said that its the man behind the "instrument" that does the music, a talented musician can make lovely music with just a wooden stick!
Best racket player of our generation in my opinion
Ah I see, so the kid has grown up and moved beyond playing the oven
Who would dislike this???
London is like that, full of amazing artist

"What's all this racket about!?"
Now I'm curious how he build the tennis racket guitar.
Bubba Gurt strapped a pickup and some guitar strings to a tennis racket. And boom we have a guitar.
First, is not a guitar, rather is an electric Ukelele. Second, there are videos on youtube explaining how to convert even altoid boxes in electric ukeleles.
first ...he's playing and making it sound as a guitar and seond ukulele is an instrument from the same familly and thrd it was not about HOW he built the instrument but about how it sounds played by him.In the set-up that he made.Which shows real musical skills plus an unconventional approach.
may I kindly ask that you shut the fuck up. both of you ;)
"I'm curious how he build the tennis racket guitar." He didn't it's just a regular tennis racket that he's pretending to play while he has pre-recorded music played by a real guitar coming out of his speaker. It's a phony act.

Oh my God, it's freaking awesome. I'm bewitched
Patrick : is a tennis racket an instrument?
When you dont have money to buy a guitar AHA! im just gonna buy tennis racket
To be fair, you can probably get a used entry level guitar for the price of a tennis racket. Especially considering that he still had to obtain hardware to add to the racket plus the expense of time.
That racket isn't new though, so you could probably get it for basically free at some scrap place.
The round instrument is the only traditional instrument. The African Mbira can do much more than just percussion. The wah-wah tone is incredible and great playing. Bravo!
