Here’s the chords. Thanks Sonic Daydream. This is the best way to get this song on the internet. Better than any tabs I’ve seen. When written down all these changes look more complicated than they really are. The genius of it is to form these beautiful inversions and variants of chords, with little effort and changes to fingering. Likely as not the fingering came first. Amazing how Sonic Daydream has figured this out. I’m just copying his fingers. Intro: A (played as Fmaj7 shape at 5th fret, leaving other strings as open drones) DSus2 (an inversion that adds 3rd of the chord at 4th fret the D string) A ASus4 A Hook: This is that satisfying descending part, but you can play this simply as a D as a cheat. This is mostly by adding and removing a finger at a time. It goes: D for 4 beats. ASus2 for 2 beats. DSus2 for 2 beats. DSus4 and resolve to A. Verse: A Em DSus2 (BTW, I was listening to this when it came out. I saw a clip of Like a Daydream on TV and went out and bought the EPs. It was like nothing else at the time. Everything was either agro posing or disposable pop and here was something like a beautiful dream, like floating in oceans or a leaf in the sky, like a melancholy memory. The Ride tour after Nowhere was the first concert I snuck into underage. Now, many years later I’m learning guitar - so thanks for making it possible for me to play this.)
One of my all-time favourite songs. I'm going to see Ride on Sunday and asking the universe that they play it. Your cover of the song is truly wonderful, thanks for sharing.
