    Thankyou for giving a good honest view of being a courier and you should not question
    I was looking for a flexible job and being on the CX is giving me this
    although there is not enough work on it to keep me going full time
    As well as you i look at Pete the courier and Van on the run and some newbies now
    I did a job at a DPD depot and saw the stress put upon them
    I also saw Hermes and the terrible way they work
    So new i didn't want to work that way
    I like the same day going a to b so i can pick loads and where i go if i can to suit my health conditions
    My working life is coming to the end in the next couple of years so hope to keep going until then
    Thanks again Big Beardy

    You need to make a video on how drivers get treated like 2nd class citizens by warehouse staff.

      I’m not bigging the job up but I think there’s a touch of jealousy regarding warehouse staff stuck in there Groundhog Day job towards drivers,I’ve had a few say I’d love to be doing what your doing mate…I’m friendly and polite but any attitude they get it straight back..

    Hail and well met! It’s always great to see a BB video drop on the YT. No, it’s not your fault, but you all on YT are easy to blame and let’s face it, folk are always looking to blame someone. I enjoy watching you all for your approach to the challenges, personalities and the craic. Keep er lit my good man!

    Im 59. From the age of 3, i spent every holiday in my dads truck. I left school, became a container stuffer, forkie, van and 7.5 driver, 26 set up my own firm with a van. Retired 28 years later, had 25 staff then.
    I agree that CX youtubers are a very small part of any increase in CX participants. The bottom line be it now or 40 years ago, people want to be their own boss, they want ( perceived IMO) flexibility, some idea that they can make more money than they are currently or imagine they can outperform the odds.
    As i said, it was 1967 when i got into my Dads truck and people were undercutting back then. Its, particularly vans, low barrier to entry, relatively cheap to set up, so its something that many people are able to do.

    Not sure if this is useful or not but your videos actually put me off the CX, particularly when you talked about initial outlay, payment delays and chasing etc. Now working with one of the big same day operations and am perfectly happy as it suits me. Yes the take a lot of the job money but they have the contacts, give me loads of work and make sure I get paid in a week. Hopefully the next time someone has a go at you, you have an example of someone who was interested in the CX and went elsewhere after hearing your honesty!

      @@doves9204 Completely agree. Don't know about you but I'm already on regular runs so I know what I'm doing most of the week. Other couple of days they normally find me something worthwhile and I don't have to keep checking-the work is sent through which they know suits me because they know my circumstances and preferences.

    Awrite shags, look at the plumbing /. Gas industry the same happened there people see/saw £££ and ram to training organisations to get qualified and unwittingly drove the price down, exactly the same as what’s about to happen to heat pump installations. If you make money people will get onboard.been in cx for 2.5* years came from DPD when it goes quiet I go drive trucks and when they bore me I jump in my van
    This time next year…..

    Interesting video Guy.
    I don’t think UA-cam wafflers have a vast influence, most of you guys have only been doing the job 2 minutes and learning as you do the videos .
    Most of the new couriers started with likes of Amazon, got treated like shit, watched the independent drivers and thought I want a piece of that - that’s where most of the drivers come from - just my opinion

    Hi Big (I prefer the informality of using just your first name 😂).
    I would be interested to know roughly how many comments (on all social platforms) have referred to your UA-cam videos encouraging drivers to join the CX (in a negative context) and then roughly how many different people these comments have come from?
    It might just be a guess or you might know precisely.

    • @gtcharlton
      @gtcharlton  Рік тому

      At a guss I would say 10 to 1 good comments. I get a lot of personal messages on instergram and the vast amount of comments are positive. But it's hard to say.

    • @DeliveryMan-jdr
      @DeliveryMan-jdr Рік тому

      So roughly 10% negative comments to 90% positive?

    • @gtcharlton
      @gtcharlton  Рік тому +1

      It depends on what you can't as negative. If it was people just telling me to shut up then I would be less. But obviously depending on the video people will disagree with what I'm saying on a specific topic and agree on another topic.
      So are you asking the amount of people that just don't like what I'm saying at all or just disagree across the board.
      I love the question but it's just not easy to put a number on things like this unless we break down each video.

    • @DeliveryMan-jdr
      @DeliveryMan-jdr Рік тому

      In reference specifically to the criticism that UA-cam videos encourage new people to join the industry. I'm asking about the proportion, roughly, of comments you have received that think UA-cam videos negatively affect the industry (for example by encouraging 'unsuitable' people to join the CX) as opposed to those people that comment favourably on the content. Have you actually had a high volume of these comments or is it more that they are louder (or appear to be louder) than the vast majority?

    • @gtcharlton
      @gtcharlton  Рік тому +2

      OK ye I get it now. Very few people say negative thing. it is a case when they do people tend to react to them. If you look at the vast majority it's positive but a small minority that will be negative but when they do its usually using personal insults or threats and that obviously grabs peoples attention.
