If it's possible to lose a game where you score more runs than the other team, the Cubs did that against the White Sox. The Sox gave away at least 2 runs in each of those games based purely on sloppy play, and yet the Cubs barely won both games. By beating one of the worst teams in the history of baseball by a single run, it showed me how bad this Cubs team really is. I honestly count those wins as a low point of this season.
The superpower of this year's Cubs team has been the ability to make their best players' solid performances irrelevant. Justin Steele has given up two earned runs in 25 innings over his last 4 appearances. The Cubs went 1-3 during those games and Steele went 0-1.
And yet, despite it all, as frustrating as this Cubs season has been, I think the thing that tilts me the most about this Cubs season is that Pat absolutely refuses to pronounce the name "Taillon" correctly.
