Family Guy did actually have a standard start in 1999. After Seth MacFarlane’s short Larry & Steve in What a Cartoon, he turned it into Life of Larry, which then he turned it into the Family Guy pilot, which then turned into this very first episode of the show. Yeah, it’s a lot of layers, but it’s also an understandable progression.

This is definitely the beginning of something incredible. I’m so glad you’re finally reacting to it. One of the best hilarious shows that will never get old to us. Can’t wait to see more of them. And fun fact: This episode aired after the 1999 Super Bowl between the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons. RIP to NFL Legend John Madden. They had a cameo of him in the very first episode.
Seasons 1-5 are iconic.
Classic Family Guy is the best, the jokes always hit, and it has its fair share of emotional moments.

Seth MacFarlane, the creator of the series and the voice of Peter, Brian, Stewie, etc. He was inspired by the most talented Crooners which include Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, etc. He even took lessons and his crooner singing became incredibly remarkable.

I have a soft spot for this show, I started watching it when I was 13 on adult swim and still watch the new episodes almost 10 years later. The show dips in quality dramatically, but I'll never get tired of it.
you can see episode 2 later on but recommend seeing season 10 episode 5 "Back to the Pilot" which is kind of a remix of this episode.
I don't think a time travel ep is in order just yet.

Family guy was aired in January of 1999 SpongeBob was aired in may of 1999
And family guy got season 22 way more SpongeBob because SpongeBob got season 14
Family guy is older than SpongeBob in some episodes they’re abusing Meg and in season 5 their mouths start moving different and scents season 10 things start becoming more…that their also swearing but in tv there censored but on apps they’re uncensored
