Can I just say, HUGE THANK YOU for actually playing the bass and not just running it through a massive DarkGlass Distortion and djenting!

So you bought a Dingwall bass or you just like to complain?

The best review on a bass I've seen yet.

Really dig this different style of video! Nice to see and hear a proper breakdown of your main bass. I got to try a couple of dingwall basses at summer NAMM and am really considering parting with my vigier to fund one. If I may, that bridge and neck combo in series sounds absolutely killer and would love to hear that a bit more with your effect demos just to hear how that interacts with them. Great video as always and a happy new year! Keep up the good work!

@@ZacharyRizer I know very little about electronics, but would it be possible to wire in a resistor that was only engaged in that position? Don't know for sure if that would work and, if it did, don't know if it would change the tone along with the volume, but might be worth looking into. That, or just explain to a good tech what it is you're looking to accomplish. There might be an easy solution. (I did like the tone in that position, too.)

Both pickups in parallel with distortion is the shit. Nice demo!

really like your clear discussion of the dingwall and I'm looking for a ABZ 6 with passive pickups too because of your sound. I also ordered the bergantino amp + super-preamp to obtain additional versatility, high fidelity, and punch. please promote any recordings you've made with this bass and the synths!

I like the FD-3 pickups. I have them in a passive Dingwall AB1-6. In some situations they need a buffer to bring out the top end clarity - depending on the amp - but generally I get the tone I want with little to no tweaking. I have FDV's in a Dingwall Z3-6. They are clearer on the top end and almost sound like an active bass even in passive mode. The treble needs to be tamed sometimes.

You are seriously amazing. Can you please make a video showing off your right hand technique? I love the tone you get playing finger style and you curl your fingers in more than anyone else I've seen. Keep it up !!!

I've had a couple of maple board basses in the past and struggled to cut through a full live band environment - how does this cope? Seriously considering upgrading my MTD to one of these beasts - glad to hear a comprehensive sound review and not another Darkglass laden metal playthrough ;)

Having a long B is great mine is 36 in and my F# is 36.5. And I also have Kalium. I have a 194 on my F#.

How does the low f# sound? I might make a build soon with a low f# but scared a little that it will be too muddy

Pretty nice and versatile but I prefer thinner necks....(i.e. Yamaha John Myung style), that looks like a fairly wide neck.

Hi I’m thinking of getting a six string bass. I had one question that has less to do with the sound and more with ergonomics. How does the weight of your Dingwall feel? Especially when you’re on a gig where sitting isn’t an option.

@@ZacharyRizer How is the reach to the first fret on the B-string, when standing and playing the bass on a strep, compared to that of a typical, 34" scale P-bass? I like to angle the neck up a fair amount (maybe 45 degrees, give or take) when I play, if that makes a difference (a bass that will stay put there, balance-wise, is a bonus). Nice video, by the way -- and thanks for touching on the chords -- that's something I was wondering about.

Awesome video. But you’re action seems really really low. That much buzz would drive me crazy. Seems like every note is choking out. Sounds awesome though! Would just drive me nuts.

I've noticed you use a very 'hooked' fingerstyle technique. What is the reason for that?

    • @TacticalHyena
      @TacticalHyena 4 роки тому +5

have you thought about posting some technique based videos? breaking it down, exercises, ect. ?

As somebody who plays classical guitar as one of their instruments, I have to wonder if that was any influence on your style?
