May I ask how this was done? Did you record the same replay many times with different palettes and then synced them? Or did you periodically change the memory address containing the palette ID so as to change it automatically while playing a replay?
Hey Eddy, sure! I didn't do any editing of the game files. Having the palette change automatically sure sounds like it would have been easier, haha. I don't think I've dived into the game files as much as you have ;) All I did was listen to a click track while recording a bunch of themes, pause after every bar or whatever, change the theme, resume the replay on a new bar and repeat. Then I manually cut out the blocks of video with the menu (maybe plus one or two duplicate frames to make sure the replay was fluid.) Very amateur method, haha, and only really possible because the in-game pause/unpause is near-instant. It was tedious to put together though because it relied on manual timing, so sometimes the clips would go out of sync with the music and I'd record that bunch of 8/16 themes again. It would surely be better in the long run to record each bunch of replays in full, then control the timing by switching the clips in the video editor, particularly now that I've got a much better one. Oh well. On "rocket workout", particularly at 2:07, you can catch how I definitely pause it on the palette changes because sometimes there are rocket explosion visuals that just disappear, since they kept moving while paused.
I think my favourite for ages, at least before the Ultimate Edition update, was Supernavy. Great contrast, and looked cool. But there have been plenty more afterwards that I really like. "Chemical" is pretty cool though, and feels retro-y. And that golden brown and purple of "desert world" is pretty gorgeous.
Ha, yeah that's the one one I use for the combined replay videos because it just works well with how I edit them. But I quite like to play with it, too.
Thanks so much :D No custom colours aren't a thing. Not sure if it was a deliberate thing, or just something they didn't end up implementing. I know a lot of people have asked for them, but I've gotta give Metanet credit for just how many they designed and tested. It's probably harder than it seems to make them so good because I guess basically every object/enemy could be its own colour. I would probably not get a good result, but it would be fun to have as an option.
Hey @@mikethe2238, By "custom colors", they were talking about being able to edit individual colours, not just pick the colour themes made by Metanet. So it's not officially a thing in the game. But there has actually been work in the n++ Discord, in the "palette-creation" channel, to allow you to perform this if you want to check it out.
Interesting choice! It is quite a bright theme, whereas I tend to prefer the darker ones, but there is something kinda cool about everything having thin outlines in console.
You unlock a new theme with every 5 non-Intro episodes you complete. This includes Race, Legacy and Co-op. There are also a couple of themes specifically unlocked by completing a row and a column of (Solo?) Legacy episodes.
Hey sorry, I guess I missed your comment about unlocking headbands. I found this from the n++ discord. I'm not sure but these might still be bugged, in that you don't necessarily get the right headband from these, but these should be the unlock requirements: "classic" - Complete the intro tab "dramatic" - Complete the legacy tab excluding X-row "quixotic" - Allgold 50 levels across all solo tabs "majestic" - Complete 25 secret challenges in the N++ tab "dynamic" - Complete the N++ tab excluding X-row "fantastic" - Complete the N++ tab including X-row "triumphant" - Complete the ? Tab "realistic" - Complete the ultimate tab including X-row "simplistic" - Die 100 times to chaingun drones "statistic" - Complete the N++ tab in hardcore mode "mimetic" - Complete the ! Tab

What was the gray one with green highlights at 1:49, if it's not too much of a bother?
I'm pretty sure that one is lab
Yep, that's it.
So the one at 0:39 is classic? Original?
Yep, 0:39 is "classic" from the original n
Also 2:41 is "plus" from n+
what is the palette called at 2:16
hey, sorry for not responding earlier. With the green gold? That's 'nemk'.
