- in this video, i guide you on how to make a generic obby in less than a day! a generic obby is an obby that has its obby based of various premade structures / obstacles, and covers in a box!

This obby somehow looks like a ton of stuff just put together, but it still looks amazing! I'll probably follow this guide for another obby I can make!
Just a couple of points:
1. Gameplay > Design.
Any good player in ANY sandbox knows this. It doesn't matter if the design is absolutely outstanding and all the jumps are extremely well decorated to the point where people question if you didn't just hack the part limit - if the gameplay sucks, so does the obby. It's what obbies are mainly about. You should focus on building your gameplay before you start designing. Then, once the gameplay is done, you can spend the rest of your parts on design.
2. Don't limit it all to a box. Make your gameplay as extensive as you like, and then maybe you can build the box around that gameplay, or make it a more complex shape. As long as the box looks good when it's done, you're fine.
And also, that isn't the proper definition of purism.
Purism is when an obby doesn't use client objects (buttons, conveyors, moving parts etc.) that affect the gameplay. If there's a moving part or conveyor for design that doesn't affect the gameplay, or respawn parts to prevent cheesing but that's it, then it's still purist.
If an obby is purist, the gameplay will only be made by parts from the basic tab. It might have a spin part or two for design, but it's still purist as it doesn't affect the gameplay.

tip that will help a lot: do not put lava anywhere, this can cause irritation because sometimes the game starts to crash and so our foot of the avar crosses the part and we lose by the lava for no reason instead. put the respawn part so it only works with checkpoint... don't make this lava mistake!

Honestly I've never thought of building that way, just making a lot of obstacles then modifying it so things dont get repetive, I'm gonna try this in my future creations

My problem with most featured levels is that it doesn’t necessarily reward players for making fair and readable obbys that you can actually play. And more so in favor of how well decorated you can make it look, seems counterintuitive when the name is “obby creator” and then every other featured listing is a replica of some real life replica of a store, game character models, etc. If you play JToH you’ll find this to be much more true, however I would be lying to say every obby creator player is good or has much experience in what makes good gameplay and if they can even do harder obbys/towers. The actually editor lacks some things like being able weld objects to one another (allowing for things like trusses and wedges to be attached to spinners or moving objects), or certain client objects that can only be used in Roblox Studio. The only real reason I play obby creator is because of how many people are open to trying whatever I put out there, wether or not they may be able to appreciate or complete the obbys I spend the time to design gameplay of.

Problem : --> Actual obbies not getting featured
--> replicas of things that aren't obbies getting featured
--> Not all obby creator players are skilled at obbies
--> Editor itself lacks some CO's found in JTOH towers
Reason to play Obby Creator :
--> People will play your obby no matter what (especially if the obby looks good)

Well not gonna lie I think that Tower Creator is way better than Obby Creator as it has most of the JTOH client objects, however here we're talking about towers which are way longer to make (exept if you're a JTOH ring 3 tower maker) and people there are probably not as likely to get to your obby as in obby creator.
