So while I applaud the effort and creativity... I have concerns which I brought up to my coworkers whom we all are in construction field. Concrete and stone will crack and even explode when hot enough. Be safe my friends
My feeling tells me that rock is probably going to get hot and crack, explode, or both….I don’t see any kind of firebrick, which are designed to withstand that kind of heat….also, the mortar will probably not withstand the constant heating either….maybe I’m missing something,…who knows
The comments are shocking. People in small villages do not have access to the things you say they need. I would trust the people who have been doing this for hundreds of years.
It’s as if people have forgotten that for thousands of years humans built many structures without any of the modern tools and equipment we have today!!

@David Davison Your right ,should be plastered with mortar on the inside, myself ,I would of used a firebrick with thin set,and layed stone backing behind firebrick and topped with cement with small stone mixed to add strength to the top
@David Davison you seem to know what your talking about. Can you advise on materials? What type of rock and mortar should be used? Can they be bought at Home Depot?
@David Davison Very nicely put...I would for sure take advice and pay for work from you based off this comment...Many Blessings My Friend...Much Love and Peace...❤🙏🌱
Eso mismo pensé yo que el cemento se estalla con temperatura alta. Como así no le puso barro reflactario o ladrillo reflactario por dentro y una puerta para usarlo como horno también. Lastima por que esta muy bonito like
Very pretty, but a plastic chimney seems a bad idea. And even dense rocks will crack (or explode)... Easiest is to build a clay oven, with a mix of clay, hay and sand (dung is optional).
Chicken wire would keep the lid sturdy or atleast untill the mortar you laid the stones with starts cracking and falling apart Deficient: high temp mortar , fire brick chase & lose the Philadelphia style trowel
Consider using clay on your next build for mortar. Its dries rock hard and any cracks are easily repaired. It wouldnt work for that flat style top,but if you made it some shaped they're great. You could either use refractory cement and make that style flat topped or maybe use plate steel
@@stephenmartin5539 no it will not, I built an oven using the cheapest concrete mix I bought in a supermarket. Its standing for two years now and it didnt crack
Si y las piedras explotan, ojo si se usa con frecuencia. Barro refractario y ladrillo refractario por dentro y arriba. La decoración ya es otra cosa si no está en contacto con el fuego.
It will only last a fire or 2. Cement does not withstand fire at all. It turns to dust. You're better off just stacking the rocks or using clay/ash mix for the morter.
@@greggbarr5001 Strange, but I didn't see where the rocks came from! Just got they're smooth, that doesn't necessarily mean they're river rock. I wouldn't put recent river rocks anywhere near a fire, but some have been out of the water for millions of years! But, yeah, if they haven't been drying for at least a year, keep them away from the fire!
Ésta hermoso, me encantó de seguro voy a hacer uno. La mezcla es solo cemento y arena o lleva algo más? Muchas gracias

Looks nice but it will crack and explode with hot fire. Use fire brick and fire brick morter.
What if I use bricks instead of rocks

Love it!!! Reminds me of the Flinstones. I can’t wait to try it.
Having somewhat of a background in masonry, I wouldn’t expect this structure to last very long..
No explanation why? There's still some stone structures standing from thousands of years ago, using a lower quality of mortar.
@@gladys4246 Because he has a background in masonry Layla. Unlike you.
I would like to know why, genuinely interested here.

Put the rocks into fire first, to make sure they won't crack with heat.

Are you using fire clay? The cement will crack under extreme heat without it.
It will crack
You're not anticipating the stones to shatter as well ? Any part of this could shatter violently being exposed to water when hot .

Next time maybe put some steel bar inside the concrete to go side to side and front to back to add strength.
