As someone who makes characters, even if they aren't Sonic OCs, I got some advice: Don't feel too bad if it's over powered or "mary sue" or something like that. You can get away with types of things like that with good writing. Like SNT's "special aura" or Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls. Both are well written that it works. And if you're worried too much what other people will think: write for yourself, not for others. Do what makes you feel comfortable and don't stretch yourself too much to please an audience. And when in doubt, AUs exist. You can always chalk things up to it being an alternate reality.
Building your own Sonic OCs is really something now and days right now. Most of my Sonic OCs is a Hedgefox, Hedgehog, Hedgecat, cat, bears and a few others. Normally when I draw my Sonic OCs, I usually put humanoid feet on there feet honestly and it looks really good on them. If you want to see the rest of their designs and flaws, its on Furaffinity where I post my arts and sprites at. I think designing a OC is to find the flaw for the character's personality and inspiration.😁
Thanks, I think I have some OCs who aren't earth creatures and they're born with high charisma that draws in more fans as they're in the entertainment business and/or have their own businesses, but a few find it being problematic as they want normal lives and sick of being chosen or leader all of the time and don't mind losing and not being chosen (ex: Moony, Katrina, Fatima) ∩´>`∩;
80 percent of all my ocs are just aus of my main (im that unoriginal) and to add another layer, my mains lore is literally ripped straight from sun wukong from journey to the west but add some death and trauma at the beginning. Basically sun wukong on crack lmao
I like making ocs that are overpowered a lot, but I always give them flaws. Like for example I have a sonic oc that can easily beat almost every character but she doesn't even know how to control her powers
How to make an original Sonic character in 3 easy steps: Step 1: get Sonic or Shadow (no, Not silver.). Step 2: Dump random colours into their pallette. Step 3: Take your name and put "the hedgehog" at the end.
I made a sonic character in forces and then I named her violet and shipped her with shadow and she's rouges cousin she looks up to rouge and wants to be like her i wanted to flesh her character out as much as possible so that she isnt a marry sue like elina i spent alot of time thinking about the backstory and lore for the charactor and i wanted her to be immortal at first i wasnt sure where i wanted her immortality to come from but now i think maybe the chaos emeralds would be a good origin cuz you know the chaos emerald lore is already all messed up so why not make her immortality come from the chaos emeralds or would that be contradicting shadows immortality? Idk anyways she likes shadow and wants to be his "maria" which means she wants to be the one that makes him happy and since forces is a mainline game everything that happened in that game is cannon to her story she overcame her fear of infinite in the game so I'm cannonizing that character development because it's a nice little character ark and I think it'll add more to her character but yeah she also met shadow in forces since I'm shipping her with him obviously and she's got a few of rouges personality traits in there too shes sassy and confident and she loves flirting with shadow and seeing him blush and get all flustered also her and scourge are like best friends they are the perfect dynamic duo
the video didnt touch on picking powers, so here's my two cents for anyone looking for that: i personally like to take abilities or physical attributes of their original species and crank them up significantly to turn them into powers, and this usually fits in well with canon. so for my python, he has the ability to use literal thermal vision as long as the pits above his mouth are unobstructed, and his body can coil tight enough to crush metal to allow the fighting of egg pawns. he's also incredibly good at tracking because he can mlem the air and detect not only the trace of someone, but which direction they went. meanwhile for my badger, he has incredibly durable and loose skin, a high resistance to venom and similar toxins, and a stink bomb ability similar to rough's stink bomber ability. research your chosen animal and see if there's some oddity of their physiology you can turn into something cool! along with that, you can also just give characters random ass powers for no reason and it be entirely fine. tails' ability to fly with his twin tails blatantly makes no sense, and sonic has roughly a million not-quite-official reasons for being inexplicably fast, "just because he is" being one of them. eggman is also incredibly prone to experimenting, so it's not unreasonable for him to have some new Thing to want to try on a mobian, even if it's "overdone." it's overdone *because* it's such a reasonable thing for him to do fairly often lmao. overall, just relax and have fun with powers for the most part. "rule of cool" is very prominent with sonic characters, so it's totally fine to just come up with something cool or fun even if it's unrealistic, illogical, or has no explainable reason.
Exactly what I did with a character I just recently made! He’s a nudibranch, a species that is known for its ability to incorporate traits of its prey into its own body for self defense (such as poison or stingers), so when cranked up a bit, he essentially becomes the sonic universe equivalent to kirby.
Going off the "Don't worry if you can't draw part" another alternate way is using the many character/avatar creators out there to get a basic design, then commission an artist to refine it better so it stands out more and the artist now has a base to go off of That's what I did for my characters
As someone who likes designing all sorts of different characters, I really like how Limber turned out, and the fact that she resides in Studiopolis and has an 80's-style to her was a nice touch. When I made my character persona, Monty Eggman, I did it because, at the time, there were no Sonic fan characters based on Eggman, and I wanted to be different.
Mine is a jackal like infinite. Rather than being in the modern or mania universes, he’s in a separate universe entirely. He starts off as a villain. Trying to gain control of the chaos and master emerald. But he eventually turns good

Technically speaking, a character made for a franchise like Sonic, Naruto, MLP, etc isn't called an OC (original character), they're called fan characters. A proper use for the word OC is a character you didn't place in a franchise you're a fan of, but your own world you create for them. It's not to say an fan character can't be original, simply put they're fanmade characters for a franchise you're a fan of, like In this case, Sonic the Hedgehog.
I finished my own Sonic persona OC not so long ago. I'm gonna talk about her here, so you can tell me if you like the character and talk about your own Sonic characters (or characters from other franchises if you want to) in the replies because I'd also love to know about the way other people create characters. So, my character is based on a Diving Bell Spider, a particular kind of spider that lives underwater thanks to the air bubbles it makes and lives inside of. So my character's power is to create air bubbles at will. It works because air bubbles are already a thing in Sonic. My personas all share the water element, so my character does too. For her it translates into being a Diving Bell Spider and being able to create air bubbles, but it also influences her name. Most of my personas are named Oceane, like me, but for her, I decided to give her a name that references speed, like Sonic is, well... Sonic and Tails is Miles Prower (Miles per hour), even though she isn't particularly fast. Her name is Knotie Kolmile, referencing the Nautical Mile (the unit measuring distance across the water) and the Knot (the unit measuring speed across water), which equals to 1 Nautical Mile per hour. Now for her backstory. As a kid, she was bullied for having 8 eyes (you know, since she's a spider) and for being different in general. The bullies called her "Naughty Knotie", and it followed her for most of her childhood. As an adult, she decided to live alone, where people can't find her. She found a sunken ship that she surrounded with a big air bubble. There was quite a lot of treasure in there (also lots of books) so she managed to live a nice life for a few years. She only came out of her bubble (literally) to buy food and all that, but she didn't speak much to other people when she did. But after these few years, she didn't have much treasure left to use to sustain her lifestyle. So she doesn't have any other choice but to get out there, overcome her introvertion and fear of other people, and find a job. That's when her story begins. She looks like that by the way : drive.google.com/file/d/1X9sGc13JGUpWGMqAlnmJCdCh23RcmJcs/view?usp=drivesdk What do you think, and once again, what are your characters like ?
this is so cool!!! i love spiders tjeure so cute and silly :3 my sonic sona is a raccoon-thing named cackle, becuz i like mischief and halloween related things so i wanted to make a silly mischevious little guy i also based the color scheme off of halloween, so black, purple, orange, and green, so i had alot of fun designing it :3 i made the mask on the face black, as well as the hands/gloves and stripes, and since i also tend to put devil horns and tail on my sonas i went and did that but noticed the horns kinda looked like they were coming out of the mask, so i leaned into thay a bit and decided it has the ability to shapeshift the parts of its fur that are black :3 it doesnt really have much backstory other than being siblings with my friend/siblings sonic sona named ampere, whos a lynx with electricity/teleportstion powers :3
@@Mythicalwaters I love spiders too ^^ (though he ones with long legs kinda scare me ^^' but I would never hurt them either way, and also jumping spiders are the cutest) I really like the idea of an halloween themed racoon, I guess he always chooses trick in trick or treat ^^' This is not me telling you to change your character, but since the horns seemed like they were coming out of the mask, I personally would have made them a part of the mask since racoons obviously don't have horns. And the tail could have been a fake one because halloween costume. And I'm not sure that a racoon can be a lynx's sibling since they're two entirely different species. Unless they're not actually related by blood and call each other siblings because they're extremely close. The transformation of its black fur is an interesting idea, but personally, when I make Knotie, I asked myself "how would her gameplay work if she was playable in the game ?". It's not necessary but it's interesting. For Knotie, she would make an air bubble around her head when going underwater so that she can breathe indefinitly. She's also faster underwater, but slower on land. I think it would make an interesting gameplay and make levels like Labyrinth Zone a lot more enjoyable while not allowing you to storm through the usual levels like Sonic does in usual levels due to her being slower. You don't have to do it if you don't want to, but I'm curious, what do you think your character's gameplay would be like ? You can choose between the classic games and modern games. For example in modern games, they could stretch their fur to grab something that is far away from them and then be brought towards that thing. Basically their own variant of the homing attack. What do you think and do you have any other ideas ?
That's a very interesting OC you came up with. Specially about the specie's choice which is pretty uncommun and her backstory deliver a deep message about discrimination. I've created mine since more than 10 years ago now. But I've just recently re-drawing it because the old one was not legit since it's was traced. To give a description: He's a yellow tiger with purple stripes and green eyes. He wear a black and orange jacket inspired from a chinese outfit. His gloves are light grey for the main part and black/orange for the bottom part. A part of his shoes is orange too and all the rest is black with some white lines. His main weapon is a saber (once again a chinese one) that's he wear with a belt. So as you can see I was mainly inspired by the tiger from China. But I needed to take some liberties because I've had a hard time to find him a fitting name. So for his name I had let me the possibility to choose one from a asian country. I ended up with Jigen (hindi-originated name meaning "Sharpest sword of World" in English), a name related to his main way to fight (just like Knuckles to give a example). I've also gave him Jagger ("the one who cuts" in British's meaning) as a more "international" nickname. I don't really have a well established backstory for him, I can just tell that he's from Chun-Nan, he like exploring the world and he will be in a situation where he will have to save somone (my other OC) who basically will become his non-blood related little brother. He is calm, thoughtful and emphatic. He has the capacity to feel people's aura (I admit I was highly inspired by the Pokémon Lucario for this part lol) and has a good speed and agility. And I guess that's it. I've actually planning to create two other characters to follow the Sonic Heroes's formula. Jigen will obviously be in the speed category. English is not my first langage so I hope my comment will remain understandable lol.
@@MrJoekun It seems interesting ^^ I like your idea, it follows a chinese theme and it works well from what you told me. Also english isn't my first lanuage either (I'm french), it's okay. Your english is pretty good, the only mistake I saw is not adding the "s" after the verbs at the singular third person (it's "he likes exploring" not "he like exploring") but besides that, I didn't see any mistake. Your english is better than a lot of people I know's english. Also redesigning old OCs is always fun. For example, I had this character called Mil. At the beginning, her role was just to be my character's girlfriend. She didn't have much of a personality. But when, a few years later, I decided to expand on her character, I wanted it to make sense with what I already had. At this point, there were 2 versions of this character, one being a Vampire and the other being a Succubus. So I decided that one of her main traits would be to be horny (because Succubi are like that). And all of a sudden, her being my character's girlfriend makes more sense. My character is introverted but is also secretely horny sometimes (though you know, like a lot of people, she doesn't talk about it). So there's good chimestry here, with the introvert/extrovert and the secretely horny/openely horny dynamics. Also, one of the scene I made for Mil a long time ago was in a party and she would be interested in the clothes that were proposed to wear in the party. So, instead of making it a "girls likes clothes" cliche like it originally was, I gave her a genuine interest for clothes. Now a lot of new versions of her create their own clothes and run a clothing shop. I also decided thay her full name is Milicent, but that she prefers the nickname Mil. Also, in the original story of Vampire Mil, my own Vampire character found her in an school dorm at night, and because I wasn't good at writing back then, she liked my character immediatly and asked to become a Vampire too. Later on, they met Millia, Mil's older sister and the Queen of the Vampires. So after a few years and with more writing experience, I decided that the reason Mil asked for this random edgy teen Vampire she just met to bite her is because she wanted to be into the Vampire society in order to find her sister who abandoned her in the human world in order to protect her from the Vampire World. But Mil grew up alone and resents her sister for that. And over time, the meaning of Mil's main personality trait being horny became more fleshed out. First, she likes making clever jokes and innuendos. My character likes her jokes (she likes jokes in general) and tends to blush when she makes an innuendo. She may be horny, but he has the belief that being naked is not really the best. She think wearing clothes is more attractive, because it lets the other people fantasize about what's behind these clothes. Though, she may be liking stuff that's very inappropriate for children, she cares about keeping their innoncence intact a lot, so she'll act and dress differently in front of children. Also Mil is pansexual (it's a bit of a joke on the fact that she's horny and that, no matter the gender, she can take on anybody) and her element is fire (because she's hot). Basically Mil herself is one big innuendo (while still having a personality and story). And all of that came from expanding on a character who used to have no personality at all. That's why it's fun to do.
@@Okeana_Aster Thanks! It's the very first time that's I share information about my Sonic's OC. Oh but I'm french too! It's could have been easier to understand each other! But I guess it's would be better if we keep it in english here. And yes you're right about the mistake I've made. I've read my comment at least twice before posting it, but still I didn't noticed it so thanks for pointing that. That's interesting to know. Yes it's can always be fun and a good thing to rework one of our OC. It's can be either for their design or their writing or even both. It's remind me of my very first OC that's I didn't kept because he was really nothing original. Physically speaking he was just like Shadow except all black (without the red lines) and with two more spikes on the shoulders (coming from his head). Even his name had no meaning since it's was a manufactured one (I think it's was something like "Raiweur" lol such a weird name). At that's time I was like 9-10 years old and if I remember I've already the idea to make him using a sword. I'm much more satisfied with my current character now. You managed to give a better evolution to your old OC and looking at their's description I guess they're from their own universe? I've also create plenty characters outside Sonic's universe who are humans but with powers for some of them. Going into details would be too long but to make it short, it's was a story with a dark tone which implies two worlds: our's and the other one where peoples have great powers. I've made twenty characters in this universe and there's still two that's I didn't (re)drew. And to these days I've still didn't manage to complete this story. It's been some years since I didn't drew, until last week when I've made Jigen again but in a legit way this time. I just hope that I will not lost motivation in drawing again. I already know on what's specie I will base my next power-type OC, I just need inspiration to create it's design. Even though it's has probably nothing to do with Sonic's license, the relationship part of your old story remind me of how many peoples who have created a Sonic's OC likes doing shipping (either with officials characters or other OCs). I feel like I'm one of the few who is not really interested in doing that lol. I can imagine my character(s) interacting with the officials ones, but it's never goes more far than friendship. Also I've looked at your character in the link she's look nice. She's pretty cute for a spider haha.
When i made Magna the wolf, i based her on the fact that in Sonic Forces, wolf characters can draw items towards them. (Magna is a wolf who gained ferrokinesis powers when she spent a bit too much time in a cave when there was a chaos emerald nearby and somehow adapted.)
I love seeing all these comments talking about their sonic ocs. As someone who's been in the fandom for 6-odd years and has made a lot of sonic ocs, I'd like to share my design process. I'd usually start with a cool species or a cool name, and then extrapolate a theme and backstory from there, which defines the design. Themes for me are often occupations (model, spy, knight) or aesthetics (punk, kawaiicore, techwear). I have this weird thing of needing my names to be original (that is, not used by other sonic ocs) but that's just me. Like the video says, then I do some research. Usually this is more on the design side, and involves looking up how others have interpreted the species in their sonic oc designs, and also some colour and clothing references. Now is definitely a good time to flesh out the personality a little cuz it helps in defining things like eye shape. Then I kinda sketch a whole bunch of concepts? I like to do this traditionally since there's less pressure to make all of your sketches neat or perfect. I usually try and figure out the head, hair and clothes separately, which is probably not a great idea but it's worked for me so far? And I usually try to find some shape, symbol or motif to unify the whole design, especially in the clothes. I've always struggled with colouring characters. The first things I'd go to is colour psychology, or think of what colours would represent them best (again, this is where having a basic idea of their character can really help), then maybe find some colour palettes to see how they matches those colours. Then it's mostly a process of trial and error for me; a lot of my older ocs have been redesigned multiple times if that says anything. There's also a thing called colour theory; use it it helps ig. You can definitely start with a cool design and develop the rest from there, but personally I find that the ocs I put more thought into backstory and personality wise tend to stick with me more. This also makes it really hard for me to just make an oc design without overthinking it. Currently I'm just to trying to see how many of my old unused ocs I can still salvage and revamp so we'll see how that goes.
I can definitely say that this step by step works, as looking back this is exactly how I make my characters (besides the times I would switch the last two steps and then redo the last step). I agree that research is a very vital step to making a good character!
This really helped me a lot! A few years ago, I returned to the Sonic fantom and thought of making an OC. While the OC was pretty decent, the slight problem I had was their power. My OC was a test subject for Eggman and injected the DNA of Sonic, Shadow, and Silver. Since the power was too overwhelming for them, they went berserk until Sonic and gang found a way to help control the power. Triple S (yes I'm calling them that) even teaches them how to use their power better. This part of gaining their power happens much later after getting to know Sonic and friends better. Is it a good idea to give them powers?
@@BudDinktrap I see, thank you! I'm a bit worried since I thought I made my OC a bit too OP since they now share three powers of three powerful heroes. But when I observed their powers more, I realized that it's actually pretty hard for a normal civilian to control them. So while yes they are OP, they can't control it since the powers are foreign to their body, so they need help from whom the powers originated from.
Dispite already drawing my OC when starting this video, I really enjoyed just listening to the tips in the backround. For me personally, I first get a name for the character, then the species and at the end their color and finally the backstory- the backstory based on how they act. Overall, just a really great video!
This is simple and straight forward, and not even cookie cutter when you can break away from it. But it is very solid. Currently using DnD inspirations on elementals, so I decided to make mobian-inspired versions of elementals in different forms: ones with bipedal legs, the other their alternate form when “moving” without legs but rather a reflavoring of Sonic’s “dash legs”, and with variety when they grow in size. I have made already the simple cast of earth, fire, air, and water, and their naming convention uses Greek words for their element.

I once made a Sonic O.C., serval, Lux tried to not give her too many good traits, not a Mary-Sue, I made her an Anti-Sue, I liked Lux so she is real in my Sonic A.U. Meanwhile, my ex-friend created a Sonic O.C., for which I was responsible for her design. She made a hybrid bird, called Valkyrie but she is not fleshed out like Lux, Mary-Sue, "Well, that is why I killed her off"
I never had a Sonic OC before until i decided to ask an artist to make me one from their open art request things. Really like how fitting the mobian dog character is from my GTA Online character that i made before.
I have known all the steps in my own way long before this video, this was still a really nice watch for anyone even me to figure out how to make a new character. Good job with the video like always💙
From someone who makes ocs but struggles sometimes at it, this really helped! I'm actually thinking about making a Sonic OC at some point but am struggling on where to start! I'll definitely take this vid into mind when I finally do make my Sonic OC! Thanks again! :D
For me, naming characters has often been the most difficult, So I tend to either keysmash until I find one, or mess with one of their main components. Take my current OC, Kamma. Her name was originally taken from a DND naming website, but I made it be pronounced like Comma. It worked to enhance her personality as someone who didn’t really know when to stop talking about the most simple things. Names can help enhance your character’s attributes, but sometimes, thinking of one can be a pain. Google translate and those baby naming websites really helped me out!
As someone who has made sonic OCs in the past and am currently looking into redesigning my Sonic Forces OC (yes, I did play it. No, I wasn't the biggest fan), I resonate with this
No way! I follow these steps too! Whenever I am drawing rogues for the Batman, I make absolutely sure that I follow the steps. Sometimes they're out of order, but I still make sure that the super criminals all meet the steps.
I made a Sonic oc last year! She is a fox named Marina! May or may not have made her to ship with Shadow, (Cause I'm a huge SonAmy shipper) lol I will hopefully post pics of her someday! I also made so many others, I have at least 20 OCs 😂 Still, they all have a purpose, I hope to someday publish my fanfics/headcanons! Loved the vid! Very helpful when reviewing my old Characters. 💙✨
I have my own rule that when naming an original Sonic character, it's easy to know the character's characteristics, easy to memorize, or just a name that matches the nuance.😉
For ppl that are lazy to draw or can’t draw but also don’t want to commission an artist bc ur scared to not like the results, I recommend using avatar creators and stuff like that. I personally use Gacha Life 2 or Gacha Club (before the downgrade) to make my ocs, but you can also look up some bases on Google for example and quickly sketch a few extra details and then colour. I did that for a Helluva Boss oc. Now of course, if you want to draw, commission and artist or anything else, it’s completely ok! Do what you feel like doing and this comment was just to help others out, have a good day/afternoon/evening/night and thanks for reading this long ass comment
I remember creating my own sonic character in my class who is a shark which i named shear the shark( yeah i know terrible name) and it was actually good.I didn't even use any reference.
Something I don't see people talk about much is that when creating a character, you can make them have a love interest without being a shipper. Personally I'm not a fan of shipping characters that aren't actually in love, but with an OC and a character with no real love interest go nuts. Same thing with role models.
Hey snt I made my own oc wanna check it out there are 3 comics. Great! Here's a story for Eriso the Hedgehog: Eriso had lived a long life, watching all of Sonic's adventures from afar. He was a wise and humble hedgehog, and he had always felt content to watch from the sidelines. But as he grew older, he began to feel a sense of loneliness. He had never had any friends of his own, and he longed for companionship. One day, while wandering through Green Hill Zone, Eriso stumbled upon Sonic and his friends. He watched from a distance as they battled against the evil Dr. Eggman, and he marveled at their bravery and camaraderie. As Sonic and his friends emerged victorious, Eriso approached them tentatively. "Hello there," he said, his voice soft and kind. "My name is Eriso. I've been watching your adventures for a long time now, and I just wanted to say...well done. You're all very impressive." Sonic and his friends looked at Eriso curiously. They had never seen him before, but there was something familiar about him. "Thanks," Sonic said, grinning. "We do our best. Have we met before? You look kind of familiar." Eriso shook his head. "No, we've never met. But I feel like I know you all somehow. I've watched you from afar for years." Sonic and his friends welcomed Eriso into their group, and he quickly became a valued member. His joyful and humble personality brought a new energy to the group, and they all enjoyed spending time with him. Eriso was finally able to experience the companionship he had always longed for, and he was grateful for Sonic and his friends for accepting him. As they continued to battle against Dr. Eggman and his robotic minions, Eriso felt a sense of purpose and belonging that he had never experienced before. He knew that he had found his true home, and he was excited to see what adventures the future held for him and his new friends. Part 2. Eriso had always been impressed by Sonic's speed. He had watched in awe as Sonic raced across the landscape, leaving a blur in his wake. Eriso had always been content to move at a slower pace, but as he spent more time with Sonic and his friends, he began to feel a sense of inadequacy. He wanted to be able to keep up with Sonic, to race alongside him and experience the thrill of speed. So Eriso began to train. He spent hours each day practicing his running, pushing himself to go faster and faster. At first, it seemed like an impossible task. Sonic's speed was simply too great, and Eriso struggled to keep up. But he was determined, and he refused to give up. As the days turned into weeks, Eriso began to notice a difference. His legs felt stronger, and his breathing became more controlled. He was able to run for longer periods of time without tiring, and he could feel himself getting faster with each passing day. One day, as Sonic and his friends were out on a run, Eriso decided to put his training to the test. He began to run alongside Sonic, pushing himself to keep up with the blue blur. At first, he struggled, his legs burning with the effort. But something inside him clicked, and he found himself running faster than he ever thought possible. As Sonic and Eriso raced across the landscape, they left a blur in their wake. Eriso felt a sense of exhilaration that he had never experienced before. He was finally able to keep up with Sonic, and it was an incredible feeling. Sonic grinned at Eriso. "You did it, buddy! You're finally as fast as me!" Eriso laughed, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. He had achieved something that he had once thought was impossible, and he knew that he had Sonic and his friends to thank for pushing him to be his best. From that day on, Eriso continued to train, always striving to be faster and stronger. And with Sonic and his friends by his side, he knew that anything was possible. Last story 1 Eriso had always been a solitary hedgehog, content to watch the world go by from a distance. But as he spent more time with Sonic and his friends, he began to realize the power of teamwork. He wanted to create his own team, a group of like-minded individuals who could work together to achieve their goals. So Eriso set out to find his teammates. He traveled far and wide, searching for hedgehogs who shared his values of joy, humility, and determination. After many long weeks of searching, he finally found three individuals who he believed would make excellent teammates. The first member of Eriso's team was a hedgehog named Lily. She was quiet and reserved, but she had a keen mind and a deep well of knowledge. She was able to analyze complex problems and come up with innovative solutions, making her an invaluable asset to the team. The second member of Eriso's team was a hedgehog named Blaze. She was fiercely independent, but she was also loyal and brave. She possessed incredible strength and agility, and she was always willing to put herself in harm's way to protect her teammates. The third member of Eriso's team was a hedgehog named Spark. He was young and energetic, and he had an unbridled enthusiasm for life. He was always able to find the bright side of any situation, and his positivity was infectious. Together, Eriso, Lily, Blaze, and Spark formed a formidable team. They worked together to take on challenges that none of them could have faced alone. They battled against Dr. Eggman and his robotic minions, and they explored new worlds and dimensions, always searching for new adventures. As they traveled together, Eriso felt a sense of belonging that he had never experienced before. He knew that he had found his true calling as a leader, and he was grateful to have found such amazing teammates who shared his values and his determination. With his team by his side, Eriso knew that anything was possible.
Once upon a time, in a world filled with adventure and excitement, there lived a shy and helpful little girl named Lily. Lily was just twelve years old and had spent most of her life in a pound, where she often felt sad and lonely. However, one day, everything changed for Lily when she met her friend Eriso. Eriso was a huge fan of Sonic and had been following his adventures for years. He had even been lucky enough to meet Sonic and his crew during a battle against some vicious robots. It was during this battle that Eriso first encountered Lily, who was crying in the pound. Eriso was immediately drawn to her kind and gentle nature, and he knew that he had to help her. Eriso took Lily under his wing and introduced her to his team. He quickly discovered that Lily was not only kind and gentle but also incredibly smart and resourceful. She had a natural talent for problem-solving and was always willing to lend a helping hand. As Lily spent more time with Eriso and his team, she began to learn more about Sonic and his adventures. She was amazed by the incredible feats of bravery and heroism that Sonic and his friends displayed on a regular basis. Lily knew that she wanted to be a part of that world, and she was determined to help however she could. With Eriso and his team by her side, Lily set out on her own adventure. She faced many challenges along the way, but her kind and gentle nature always prevailed. She quickly became known as the kindness of Eriso's team, and she earned the respect and admiration of everyone she met. In the end, Lily proved that even the smallest and shyest among us can make a big difference in the world. She became a valuable member of Eriso's team, and her adventures with Sonic and his crew will always be remembered as some of the most exciting and thrilling moments of her life.
Once upon a time, in a world filled with adventure and excitement, there lived a fast and energetic pup named Sparky. He was the first member of Eriso's team, and he was known throughout the land for his incredible speed and agility. Sparky was a loyal companion to Eriso and his crew, always ready to lend a helping paw whenever they needed it. He was extremely skilled in battle, and his favorite move was to run around in a circle so quickly that he could easily dodge any attacks that came his way. Despite his fierce battle skills, Sparky had a heart of gold. He was extremely sweet and would always help his crew when they were feeling down. He had a way of brightening up even the darkest of days with his infectious energy and enthusiasm. However, Sparky was not as kind as Lily the hedgehog. He could be a bit rough around the edges and had a bit of a temper when things didn't go his way. He was always up for a good fight, and he never backed down from a challenge. One day, Sparky and his crew found themselves facing off against a powerful foe who seemed unbeatable. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to defeat the enemy, and they began to lose hope. But Sparky refused to give up. He rallied his team, encouraging them to keep fighting even when the odds seemed stacked against them. He ran around in circles, dodging the enemy's attacks and hitting them with his ball whenever he had the chance. In the end, Sparky's determination and bravery paid off. The enemy was defeated, and Sparky and his crew emerged victorious. From that day forward, Sparky was known as a true hero and a valuable member of Eriso's team. And while he may not have been as kind as Lily, Sparky had a heart of gold and a fierce determination that made him an unstoppable force for good in the world.
Once upon a time, in a world filled with adventure and excitement, there lived a powerful raccoon named Blaze the Almighty. Blaze was known throughout the land for his incredible strength and his powerful fire kicks. He used to be a soccer player, but he had hurt his foot so badly that he was forced to retire from the sport. One day, Blaze met Eriso, who asked him to join his team. But Blaze was too proud to accept. He believed that he was too powerful to join any team, and he didn't think that Eriso's crew would be able to keep up with him. Eriso, however, was not one to back down from a challenge. He challenged Blaze to a wrestling match, determined to prove to him that he needed a team to truly succeed in the world. Blaze accepted the challenge, and the two began to wrestle. Blaze was surprised by Eriso's strength and skill, and he soon found himself knocked out on the ground. When he came to, Blaze realized that he had underestimated Eriso and his crew. He was impressed by their strength and determination, and he knew that he had been wrong to think that he could do it all on his own. With a slight grin, Blaze agreed to join Eriso's team. He knew that together, they could accomplish great things and become an unstoppable force for good in the world. From that day forward, Blaze the Almighty became a powerful member of Eriso's crew. His fire kicks and incredible strength were a valuable asset to the team, and he learned that sometimes, it takes more than just raw power to succeed in the world. It takes teamwork, determination, and a willingness to put aside one's pride and work together towards a common goal.
Once upon a time, in a world filled with adventure and excitement, a powerful villain named Eggman had hatched a new plan to take over the world. He had created an army of robotic minions and was using them to wreak havoc across the land. Sonic and his friends were busy on another mission, leaving the fate of the world in the hands of a new team. Eriso, Lily, Sparky, Blaze the Almighty, and a few other brave heroes had joined forces to take down Eggman and his army of robots. At first, the team was unsure if they were up to the task. They had never faced a threat as powerful as Eggman before, and they knew that they would need to work together to have any chance of success. Eriso, the leader of the team, knew that they needed a plan. He gathered his crew and they began to strategize, using their unique skills and abilities to come up with a plan of attack. Lily, with her keen intellect, came up with a plan to deactivate the robots' power source. Sparky, with his incredible speed, was tasked with distracting the robots while Blaze the Almighty used his powerful fire kicks to take them down. With their plan in place, the team set out to take down Eggman's army. They fought bravely, using every skill and tactic at their disposal. Lily was able to deactivate the robots' power source, causing them to shut down, while Sparky and Blaze the Almighty fought off the remaining robots. But Eggman wasn't going down without a fight. He had one final trick up his sleeve, a massive robot that he piloted himself. The team knew that they had to act fast if they were going to save the world. Eriso came up with a daring plan to destroy the robot, but it would require the entire team to work together. They fought valiantly, each using their unique skills to take down the robot piece by piece. In the end, the team emerged victorious. They had saved the world from Eggman's evil plan and had proven that they were just as capable as Sonic and his friends. As the team celebrated their victory, they knew that they had formed a bond that would last a lifetime. They had proved that even the smallest and most unlikely of heroes could make a difference in the world, and they were ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
Lol ive made a sonic oc and hes got his own story and everything...but ive made it canonical to his life that he met sonic only once and casually missed the opportunity to join his adventures. He met who is practically a celebrity and just told him the complicated directions to where the big adventure was taking sonic at the time.... when he couldve personally joined and helped sonic out instead with his own ability that wouldve helped them all a lot And i love my oc so much for that 😂 (he can go with any universe ver of sonc purely because of how i have him lol-)
This video definitely helped. I might show my first OC Alexandra do you on Twitter? I forgot where to post stuff. I hope you like her. When I first made her I didn’t exactly do any research or pick any specific continuity but I’d like to think I still did a good job.
Some of the characters in Sonic Boom obviously had the people not doing the research like you suggested such as having animals with random jobs that don't match the animal such as a fennec fox garbage man or a nutria Frycook and a Warthog masseuse
This is super helpful! I've been wanting to make a Sonic OC for a while, but the only idea I really had was that she'd be a hyena. But now I think I'm gonna do some research and figure out where I want her to be in universe so I can properly flesh her out!
THATS AWEOSME making up ur own timeline/lore etc for a pre existing thing can be so fun just figuring out all the ways things can be different and just making stuff up :333
@@MythicalwatersI do the same thing here! Like an alternate universe, doing that and having my own lore, made-up places, timeline, etc is more fun for me to do and experimental for me to do, especially for writing fanfics
You can make any animal into a sonic oc, yes, any, they don't need to be real, YOU CAN MAKE A POKEMON SONIC OC, DO IT, DO IT YOU COWARDS, ANY POKEMON WILL DO, YOU CAN MAKE A DIGIMON SONIC OC, DO IT, DO IT YOU COWARDS, ANY DIGIMON WILL DO, YOU CAN MAKE A YO-KI-WACH SONIC OC, DO IT, DO IT YOU COWARDS, ANY YO-KI WILL DO, YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN ANIMAL FOR A SONIC OC.
my sonic oc is Tobi the Kadachi, he's a lizard-flying-squirrel hybrid that has a sick mohawk that charges with electricity so he can glide and divebomb enemies while zapping them
Oh, my GOSH! I have to say thank you SO MUCH for the helpful advice on character creating! Honestly, I have done most of those things myself... Albeit, I mostly created Pokemon that can talk and work alongside my Trainersona using personality in mind... Ah ha... And to be fair, I'm... not confident with doing research on most things nowadays... Yeah... I have a lot of stuff thought of in my head, and that's how I have always done it... Also, I struggle with research because I have high functioning Autism and Learning Difficulties, so as a result, I can get a little too overwhelmed by too much info easily! That being said, I agree with a lot of your points, and I definitely wish that I could've learned the advice sooner! But yeah, you did an AMAZING job on that! Also, the advice that others had said are also really good, too! Funnily enough, some of my inspirations come from emotions, a bit of my own personal experiences, the things I love and so on! Which does include Anine, of course! But I'm also... well, I'm usually not the most confident in my writing skills! Don't get me wrong, I do my best to minimise errors and so on, but frankly... I'm not very good at writing anything original... I feel the best I can do is things inspired by other stories I like with my own take on it... But I do love reading and writing, nonetheless... Ah ha... I apologise for rambling a lot... I do talk a lot, don't I?
Oh, and by the way! Here's something that can help you out in terms of character creation! Moodboards and Brainstorming can also help! To be fair, I have made a Moodboard for my Media Courses! I also hope that it helps a little, and if not... That's okay!
3:17 Three of those are the same timeline now.😂 (Modern, IDW, and Classic) But Classic is still different enough, even though I wish wasn’t as a Mighty fan girl, it’s different enough that I’ll give you it.
I always wanted to make one but i was to worried that it wouldn't go well I'll give myself a second chance to make one i don't know all lot about wendigos but researching them would be cool to read I'll see what can i do ^_^
Hey I got an idea for another kind of redesign video. it's not about Sonic it's more about a forgotten game originally by the Sega Saturn it's called nights into dreams and I was wondering since you know a lot about Sega can you fuse nights with the majority of the Wisps from Sonic Colors to see some cool Fusion designs. I mean they do have the same kind of abilities it's okay if you got to make a part two or three is there is a lot of Wisps in the game and it doesn't hurt to like use the design of nights In nights journey into dreams. Please give me a heart for this comment so if you're having a free day please make this into a series since I am a subscriber to your Channel.
i made a sonic oc...i realised it was too cringe or op so i decided to change it to be less cringe but its still op! so i decided to change to a different main sonic a while back! this oc you may be asking? well i will tell you but probs gonna be confusing sye the squirrel info: name:Sye age:8 personality: casual occupation: 🏫school 🏫/ crime fighter(thats the secret lol, spilled it out, sorry sye) likes: haven't thought bout this part dislikes: haven't thought bout this part either persona info: name: The kid kniight(spelt wrong for he is 8) IQ: 101 powers: teleportation, speed, wings and...what the-...Green...WTH IS GREEN MAGIC!? durability:strong as gold...not minecraft gold don't worry Batlle IQ: 21(IQ 21! HE TRY TO MAKE-) oh also their nationality is chinese
I made a Sonic Oc and his name is Cosmic the Hedgehog and he got all the element powers and some extrodinary powers like Pshycic powers and Electric powers. He can also go super, hyper, burning form and his own custom form the Omega X form
I have a character as well, but she's evolved into something so much more... Her name is Seneya Rose, and she's the mascot of my podcast I'm working on, The Silly Kitty-Verse. While she is a mascot, she's also her own unique character. She's an alien lioness known as a Kunaji, hailing from the long-forgotten planet Zandel. She's a mother of three children, and happily married to her wife, Lenina Suzanne, a mountain lion who's a scientist and research expert. And while she may be all of that... _...When evil is a-foot, and her species is in danger..._ She calls upon the ancient Kunaji power of "Kineta" (translation: Power Shift) within a precious gemstone given to her by her father. With this gem, she becomes a femme fatale, ready for combat! She'll stop at nothing to protect her family, her species, and the planet she's sworn to protect!
Nomad, the artificial cat, a biological weapon created by G.U.N using Shadow's DNA, he awoke convinced by that destroying the humans he would be finally free from his forced duty of becoming G.U.N's definitive weapon until the two most popular hedgehogs faced him. So now Nomad understood that not all humans are that shity, starting a new life as a detective and running his own flower shop.
I have 2 sonic ocs Honey is a yellow bear who is in love with sonic. She was found when sonic and honey were a bit younger, theyre about the same age (honey being 2 years younger) and honey was weak and dying by a tree. Sonic saved her and brought her home. For context, in my au theres a tribe of wolves (a tribe, not all wolves are in it as its very small) that are cannibalistic on hedgehogs and smaller animal types (like real wolves) Luna is a grey wolf apart of the cannibalistic wolf tribe. She was an outcast, she had two tails because of the radiation in the area she was born in. Everybody threatened to eat her if she didnt leave. As she ran, she came by Sonic. The most wanted hedgehog of their tribe. She thought, "Maybe if I can get him, they'll let me back in. " so she brought him ba Wait this is turning into a story sorry lol
Thanks, I think I have some OCs who aren't earth creatures and they're born with high charisma that draws in more fans as they're in the entertainment business and/or have their own businesses, but a few find it being problematic as they want normal lives and sick of being chosen or leader all of the time and don't mind losing and not being chosen (ex: Moony, Katrina, Fatima) ∩´>`∩;
How to make an original Sonic character in 3 easy steps:
Step 1: get Sonic or Shadow (no, Not silver.).
Step 2: Dump random colours into their pallette.
Step 3: Take your name and put "the hedgehog" at the end.
You are one fking genius
Sadly, this is the typical thought process behind most of the brainrots' "creativity"
I recently made a Sonic original character but now I really want to expand on her background. This video is very inspiring!
Same!
:3
These are all very good points.
THISSSSSSSS i love exemplifying things based off of a characters species Or Just Doing Something Because Its Cool both of these things are so fun
You can also look into the mythology of the animal you've chosen to use as inspiration for their abilities!
@@smitetheboa oo yeah thats true, i didnt consider like, fables or mythology or symbolism associated with the animal!
Exactly what I did with a character I just recently made! He’s a nudibranch, a species that is known for its ability to incorporate traits of its prey into its own body for self defense (such as poison or stingers), so when cranked up a bit, he essentially becomes the sonic universe equivalent to kirby.
Most of the time. When I create an OC for a fandom I really like, I usually wing it with the the design, then I edit whatever needs fixing afterward!
same!
Going off the "Don't worry if you can't draw part" another alternate way is using the many character/avatar creators out there to get a basic design, then commission an artist to refine it better so it stands out more and the artist now has a base to go off of
That's what I did for my characters
Yeah there are a bunch of great sonic picrews
Just be sure to credit the creator when posting!
or just
yknow
get good at drawing(i shouldnt be talking ive been drawing for years now smh-)
As someone who likes designing all sorts of different characters, I really like how Limber turned out, and the fact that she resides in Studiopolis and has an 80's-style to her was a nice touch.
When I made my character persona, Monty Eggman, I did it because, at the time, there were no Sonic fan characters based on Eggman, and I wanted to be different.
I love making designs for sonic characters but always found it hard to make a backstory, so this video really helps!
I just thought of a concept recently, he's called "Jackia the rabbit, I'll update if I ever make it.
This is gonna be fun!
Thanks for the tips SNT! It may not be easy to make my own Sonic OC but I will try my best to do it.
good luck ^_^!!!
0:50 I can’t tell if this was a Helluva Boss joke from the recent episode!
Mine is a jackal like infinite. Rather than being in the modern or mania universes, he’s in a separate universe entirely. He starts off as a villain. Trying to gain control of the chaos and master emerald. But he eventually turns good

This is a good way to break down a character creation process. nicely done.
She looks like that by the way :

What do you think, and once again, what are your characters like ?
this is so cool!!! i love spiders tjeure so cute and silly :3 my sonic sona is a raccoon-thing named cackle, becuz i like mischief and halloween related things so i wanted to make a silly mischevious little guy
i also based the color scheme off of halloween, so black, purple, orange, and green, so i had alot of fun designing it :3 i made the mask on the face black, as well as the hands/gloves and stripes, and since i also tend to put devil horns and tail on my sonas i went and did that but noticed the horns kinda looked like they were coming out of the mask, so i leaned into thay a bit and decided it has the ability to shapeshift the parts of its fur that are black :3
it doesnt really have much backstory other than being siblings with my friend/siblings sonic sona named ampere, whos a lynx with electricity/teleportstion powers :3
@@Mythicalwaters I love spiders too ^^ (though he ones with long legs kinda scare me ^^' but I would never hurt them either way, and also jumping spiders are the cutest)
I really like the idea of an halloween themed racoon, I guess he always chooses trick in trick or treat ^^'
This is not me telling you to change your character, but since the horns seemed like they were coming out of the mask, I personally would have made them a part of the mask since racoons obviously don't have horns.
To give a description:
He's a yellow tiger with purple stripes and green eyes.
Wow, your oc sounds cool!
I see no problem with the powers, honestly, since it's something they have to work towards controlling.
Best fan character writing tutorial ever! It's short but sweet, just how I like it ❤
This really helps out for those who're trying to create a character.
This was an awesome video! Thanks for the tips, and I’ll keep these in mind with further characters I create!
Thanks for this video, projectsnt!
I see you really like the leotard + outerwear top combo, or at least are good at utilizing it. They look really cool in your designs!
S stands for Smart N stands for never gives up T stands for try’s hard
Building your own Sonic OCs is really something now and days right now. Most of my Sonic OCs is a Hedgefox, Hedgehog, Hedgecat, cat, bears and a few others. Normally when I draw my Sonic OCs, I usually put humanoid feet on there feet honestly and it looks really good on them. If you want to see the rest of their designs and flaws, its on Furaffinity where I post my arts and sprites at. I think designing a OC is to find the flaw for the character's personality and inspiration.😁
I haven't watched your videos in a while, and i glad to finally watch one again. Also i love your new Avatar.
I watched this, keeping a new OC I made in mind and I think I did it! Thank you!
i just made a character based on a turtle! he is a diver named Plippar, thanks as this video really helped me as i was struggling to get an idea
Sonic ocs are realy cool!
Making OC's is kinda fun!
Great! Here's a story for Eriso the Hedgehog:
Eriso had lived a long life, watching all of Sonic's adventures from afar.
You're all very impressive."
Sonic and his friends looked at Eriso curiously. They had never seen him before, but there was something familiar about him.
"Thanks," Sonic said, grinning. "We do our best. Have we met before? You look kind of familiar."
Eriso shook his head. "No, we've never met. But I feel like I know you all somehow. I've watched you from afar for years."
Sonic and his friends welcomed Eriso into their group, and he quickly became a valued member.
You're finally as fast as me!"
Eriso laughed, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment.
And the part 1 is in the start of sonic forces and part 2 is in the middle and part 3 is at the end! Hope you’ve enjoyed my fanfic
He met who is practically a celebrity and just told him the complicated directions to where the big adventure was taking sonic at the time.... when he couldve personally joined and helped sonic out instead with his own ability that wouldve helped them all a lot
And i love my oc so much for that 😂 (he can go with any universe ver of sonc purely because of how i have him lol-)
This video definitely helped. I might show my first OC Alexandra do you on Twitter? I forgot where to post stuff. I hope you like her. When I first made her I didn’t exactly do any research or pick any specific continuity but I’d like to think I still did a good job.
I have a Sonic OC her name is rainbow she is the guardian of the star emeralds those are new Emeralds and a new form just for her Galaxy form
Now that we've got the basics on the background of our characters, can we get a lesion on how you draw a basic sonic character?
To be honest, me and my best friend established our OWN Sonic timeline 😭
Thanks for the help Courtney
THATS AWEOSME making up ur own timeline/lore etc for a pre existing thing can be so fun just figuring out all the ways things can be different and just making stuff up :333
@@MythicalwatersI do the same thing here! Like an alternate universe, doing that and having my own lore, made-up places, timeline, etc is more fun for me to do and experimental for me to do, especially for writing fanfics
When people needed help making a character the most she came back!
This has helped a lot and has inspired me to make a sonic character of my own! Her name is su lin!
I LOVE THESE VIDEOS
Now I'm inspired. Thank u so much 💓
This video was a masterpiece and very helpful for the Sonic community.
This is an awesome video! Thank you for making it!! :D
I will def use this on some characters of my own.
You inspired me to make one, and I didn't know I wanted to do so.
But thanks ❤.
You can make any animal into a sonic oc, yes, any, they don't need to be real, YOU CAN MAKE A POKEMON SONIC OC, DO IT, DO IT YOU COWARDS, ANY POKEMON WILL DO, YOU CAN MAKE A DIGIMON SONIC OC, DO IT, DO IT YOU COWARDS, ANY DIGIMON WILL DO, YOU CAN MAKE A YO-KI-WACH SONIC OC, DO IT, DO IT YOU COWARDS, ANY YO-KI WILL DO, YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN ANIMAL FOR A SONIC OC.
my sonic oc is Tobi the Kadachi, he's a lizard-flying-squirrel hybrid that has a sick mohawk that charges with electricity so he can glide and divebomb enemies while zapping them
This is how I wound up with my wolf girl Obsidian
After watching this im surprised i actually already followed most of these rules! i thought i was terrible at OC creating lol.
*Instructions unclear, going over to that one Sonic Paradox short*
I love your new avatar. Very magical girl vibes 🤩
I do love researching.

Three of those are the same timeline now.😂
(Modern, IDW, and Classic)
But Classic is still different enough, even though I wish wasn’t as a Mighty fan girl, it’s different enough that I’ll give you it.
The oc reminds me of Glamrock Chica from FNAF: Security Breach.
Zero the artificial Hedgehog. Made in Dr. Eggman's super secret underwater volcano lab. IN SPACE!!!
This really helps with creating ocs
Perfect character art snt
This was really helpful!
BRO THANK U SM !!!

This ended up helping me with the creation of my Mega Man X OCs, Cyclone Hawk and Techno Turtle.

Thanks this is really inspiring!
Very nicely informative
I have 2 sonic ocs
Honey is a yellow bear who is in love with sonic. She was found when sonic and honey were a bit younger, theyre about the same age (honey being 2 years younger) and honey was weak and dying by a tree. Sonic saved her and brought her home.
For context, in my au theres a tribe of wolves (a tribe, not all wolves are in it as its very small) that are cannibalistic on hedgehogs and smaller animal types (like real wolves)
Luna is a grey wolf apart of the cannibalistic wolf tribe. She was an outcast, she had two tails because of the radiation in the area she was born in. Everybody threatened to eat her if she didnt leave. As she ran, she came by Sonic. The most wanted hedgehog of their tribe. She thought, "Maybe if I can get him, they'll let me back in. " so she brought him ba
