If there is a written scheme of examination for the equipment is available then the period could be lesser than the fixed one. The written scheme depends upon
o The condition of the equipment
o The environment in which it is to be used
o The number and nature of lifting operations and the loads lifted
o It should include details of any assumptions about usage, expected component life etc.
