As someone whom'st has been unemployed for a long time and previously asked if i can drive a forklift and basically responded with: "N0.. lmao rofl.." When i could've just used this video as a guide and maybe landed that job .. :(
Completely surprised this isn’t a video of someone fucking up disastrously in 5 mins but rather a video literally showing you how to operate a forklift. Also now I am certified on a forklift.
@@a1rh3add yea unfortunately I didn't watch it if it's only 8 minutes. You may be able to steer it during the practical. But when it comes to theory they won't pass with this video. Just the types of masts, stages, capacity plates, attachments, fuel types etc. Is this video serious though?
Came here to learn about forklife as well because my warehouse role requires it. I'm very surprised though, the version of forklift my warehouse has is different. You stand in a knee bend position, and facing forward by looking on the left side from the cockpit. Your left hand is operating a hand crank that has a knob. You grab on it and rotate it 360° to either turn left or right. Your right hand is holding a joy stick controller that has switches on top of the stick. I test drove it and it was extremely difficult unlike this version of forklift in the video. You don't look ahead of the forklift when driving but by looking on your left shoulder means you are looking at the rear of the forklift. While looking on your right shoulder means you are looking at the front of it. Weird style of driving.
Also an OSHA certified PIE trainer (slightly different terminology where I'm from, instead of truck it's just equipment,) but I was extremely surprised with how informative this was, only thing he should have hit on was the zero point turning and safety data plate. Not knowing what a SDP is kinda ruins the "I'm certified" lie. :P
We have to honk our horns at every corner or intersection where I work at and I damn near honked the horn on my car one day after work at an intersection. I was tired as hell, lol.
I'm a lady, got forklift training at my job on Monday! and I was so nervous, but watching this video, i think i got it!! Thank you so much for this!! 👍🏾

And now you have 700k people going around lying about being certified thinking this video is all they need to operate a forklift safely, when forklift-related accidents are already one of the absolute most common causes of death and serious injury in industrial and warehouse-type jobs. Seriously, this guy has his heart in the right place. He's trying to help people out so they can get jobs. But the reality is that the certification process is there for a reason. Just knowing the controls is not enough to operate a forklift safely, and even if you can fool people into believeing that you're certified when you're not (which any experience forklift operator would be able to spot in an instant just from seeing you drive), you're basically just counting down the days until you make a mistake and kill somebody or yourself because you don't really know what you're doing.
@@Fraggr92 For real. Joshua failed his forklift exam 5 times in the first 5 seconds of this video. He's not even a certified driver, much less an instructor.
@@Fraggr92 Internet doesn't give you EXPERIENCE. This video gives a quick reference and review to foster the basics. Seeing someone driving a forklift doesn't make anyone a forklift operator. It's common sense. However the video EXPLAINS how the forklift OPERATES. A video is no substitute for full training.
Got my first ever forklift training tomorrow. Im so nervous as I’m the sole provider for my family. I have God on my side and my faith is strong. You are the guy brother. Live a prosperous life my man
If you follow everything this guy does, you'll fail your exam. How he exits a forklift is a fail, and you're not supposed to enter on the right side where the accelerator and all the levers are. This guy is an accident waiting to happen.
This guy needs to be an instructor, I mean he just taught like 250k people how to drive a forklift. He has the right personality and skill to show others how to do this.
I agree but one of the most important things about forklifts that he left out is the stability triangle. Basically, after you pick something up and are clear to put your forks down, put them down as low as possible. Otherwise you run the risk of tipping over which can lead to death if you don't know what to do when a fork lift tips over. ua-cam.com/video/FmHMeVTeaF4/v-deo.html
@@Helium_Kennyy True, I cringe whenever I see someone driving around with their forks way up in the air when they don't need to be but as long as you're on relatively flat ground and don't make any sudden moves you should be fine assuming you're not picking up something that's heavier than the forklifts rated for. You'd have to be driving pretty reckless to tip over. I've honestly never felt like I was about to tip over before while operating a forklift.
this guy is a legend. I am not supposed to drive a forklift in my job but we the forklift driver is sick today and no one can drive. i watched this video and am able to use the forklift to do what i needed to do. Great! Highly recommended.
So far this is the most understandable, self explanatory and the clearest video I have ever watched with regards to forklift operation. In fact, the guy in the video is really an outstanding operator

Did you really operate a forklift? There is a job I really want, but need to know how to drive a forklift. If this video works, that would be absolutely amazing.
@@BehindTheGreenEyes I’m a supervisor at my job so I hardly ever use a forklift but sometimes when everybody is gone, I need to move a forklift and it’s super easy. I don’t even need to do much with the forks other than raise them off the ground so I can move the forklift. Half the battle will be acting like you know wth you’re doing. My first time I just sat on the forklift and just figured it out. I sat down saw a key in the ignition so I turned it on. Messed with the fork handles to right and thought okay, these aren’t making me move. I saw an emergency brake to the left of the steering wheel so I disengaged the brake. It didn’t move when I hit the gas so I kept looking around. Next step was just putting the thing in drive and I was ready to go. The lever for putting a forklift into drive, park or reverse, is to the left of the steering wheel too, in the same spot as a blinker/high beam lever is in a car. TL;DR Step 1: Find key that should be in the ignition and turn the engine on. Step 2: disengage emergency brake. Step: put forklift into drive. Treat it like a car. Keep your foot on the brake through all these steps until you’re ready to go. Remember forklifts steer from their back wheels and have a really good turning radius. Good luck out there people
I do construction and onetime the contractor asked me to move a scissor lift. I was a kid i was just an apprentice but i didnt want to seem worthless so i went ahead and hopped on and carefully figuring out the controls. It took me a few minutes to figure it out and i was able to do it with hurting anyone or damaging anything.
I wish there was a way to figure out the amount of money this video has collectively made for everyone in the comments that are saying they got a job from this. Prob millions per year
This man has a talent for being a good instructor. he’s very good at getting people engaged and breaks everything down so they will retain the info. That’s a trait a lot of people do not have
This is July 2024,this has been the only video I’ve been watching while I go for practicals once in a week…it’s really helping ….going for my tests next month
🙌🏼 Thanks for the advice, Joshua. I applied at the hospital and said I went to medical school & got the job 🤑 Performing my first heart surgery in a couple hours. Wish me luck y’all 🙏🏼
Actually I thank this man. I've learned this online after..... I went to national examination center then I've passed well by following your guidance thanks in advance
So all I have to do is go online and take a test and get the certificate? I already have experience on a stand up reach truck. After watching this, it’s no really that different from the stand up reach truck. You’re just sitting down
It's not really all that different, conceptually speaking it's exactly like driving a car. Slightly less complicated then driving stick, you just take corners a lot faster, which is why you go really slow. Honestly feels smoother once you're used to it, wish my car could back up like that sometimes.
I have been behind the wheel of one of these for 26 years now. There is more technique and knowing what to do when things go wrong. I have seen a lot of good guys over the years run them. I am one of those that run them very hard and fast. The biggest thing is know your machine.
Just two safety tips for anyone driving any type forklift. Drive backwards around corners or blind turns to avoid risk of injuring people or objects. Don't drive around with forks fully raised and loaded to avoid tipping.
@@andrewdimas6878 i would also add to "flash" your headlights a few times in addition to honking. sometimes my brain ignores the honking at work because everyone is honking so often but usually flashing lights catches my attention a little more. assuming your forklift is equipped with headlights
You quite literally helped play a role in the way my jobs played out. I went from quiting a bad place (first job), to applying and getting into a new job as a forklift driver. And don't fuck up.
You forgot a 0 in the weight figure, and you forgot to mention the "energy saving light bulbs" that turn off as soon as you drive away, making them now tight *BLIND* corners as well. Always drive with ur forks 10-15cm up if u hit someone in the shinbone it heals faster and shinbone can be repaired easly. someone that got hit on their feet or ankle it wil heal alot slower and there is a chance the person u hit in on their ankle/feets wil never recover. Thats why they says lift ur forks up a little bit when just driving around with it.

This is the best tutorial on YT. I drove a forklift for a while 20 years ago. I couldn’t remember anything and watched this video before a forklift test I had (I said I was currently certified to get the job). With this refresher I passed the test perfectly having not been on one in decades.
From someone who took the risk and jumped on and taught myself when no one was around, I feel this. MUCH much love for paying it forward bredren. Each one, teach one ✅🙌🏾🍻
How I learned to drive one. The job I have now was having all the machines, pickers, turrets, sit downs audited, the night manager asked me to move everything to the front of the warehouse so they can look at everything. I didn’t know how to drive the sit down, he told me “this is forward, reverse, parking brake here, this releases the brake, got it?” I just hopped on after and figured the rest out.

Always check fluids first. People write it off, but the initial walk-around serves a huge purpose. Saves lives, and saves money. Great video on actual usage of this type of forklift, but "forklift certification" has always included an initial walk-around inspection; an official certification, that is. That is how you treat EVERY machine you are going to use.
I am one those very few employer who told a guy that he wasn't allowed to drive our forklift until he brought his certification documents. (He never did.) I am glad that you advised the viewers to wear their seatbelt, but this only teaches people the introductory basics on how to drive the forklift. There is a whole lot more to operating and not simply just driving though. You're skill as a mentor is amazing and I'd love if there was a follow-up series of videos demonstrating how to change the propane tank, opening and closing the propane tank to get into the machine, types of tires for indoor and outdoor environments, safety vests/googles/protective shoes etc. Speaking for myself and many, we would pay for an online class like that to show our staff.
Great video, but some safety points should be noted too, like how to use the tilt to keep your load from sliding off, awareness of how rear wheel steering works so you don't drive off the edge of a loading dock, etc. Also, none of the forklifts I've driven had the lateral movement, you had to drive the load into the correct horizontal position - takes a bit more skill but not particularly difficult.
I got my license today! im 21, i been pushing shopping carts for 1.7 years now.. Am ready for a new job.. Thanks forklift joe for the easy explanation.. You did great bro! But the first thing you wanna do is: inspect the forklift, walk around look for hydraulic fluids, exposed cables, fire extinguisher if it comes equipped with one, check if the horn and seat belt works and check for the annual inspection if it has been inspected and serviced.
I swear, I thought from the thumbnail this was going to be a meme ,but I got to tell you this, 5 years in the army working in support units, 7 years of construction working with similar vehicles, this man did a GREAT f****** JOB and he explained it better than I imagined myself explaining it in such a short amount of time. Props to the man and also Godspeed!
He ain't wrong about lying on the resume. Most jobs are working at such a rate of speed that they can't afford to not have a driver for as short a time as possible. If you got the stones to say "yeah I can do it" they'll hand you the keys and look the other way so long as you don't break anything. I've worked my way into running so much equipment over the years by simply showing interest and confidence, and I genuinely do enjoy getting my hands to the keys of everything I can drive.
I commented on this a while ago but you inspired me sir. I took the Forklift class offered in my area, and I'm now officially Forklift certified. Thank you for making it less intimidating for me, you're a real hero

That man was generous. He explained in simple terms the operation of a Forklift in less than eight minutes.

Problem is that he just certified all his potential customers.

Did you really operate a forklift? There is a job I really want, but need to know how to drive a forklift. If this video works, that would be absolutely amazing.
@@BehindTheGreenEyes
I’m a supervisor at my job so I hardly ever use a forklift but sometimes when everybody is gone, I need to move a forklift and it’s super easy.
Could have just looked at a manual

@@kolby4078 this is how I learned:
"you forklift certified?"
"no"
"here's the keys, take it to the parking lot, drive around until you feel you can come back in without killing someone"

Here I am 3 years later, been lifting and working my ass off in warehouse jobs for years, had enough and ready to drive a forklift, thank you sooo much...Im ready for the test now, you're amazing 🥰
You did it?
5 years later Im here because I just landed a job at a warehouse and I need to know some basic stuff. Thank you fr this video
My interview is in 25 minutes. And i am now forklift certified. Thanks so much 👍🏻
You get the job?
Always check fluids first. People write it off, but the initial walk-around serves a huge purpose. Saves lives, and saves money. Great video on actual usage of this type of forklift, but "forklift certification" has always included an initial walk-around inspection; an official certification, that is. That is how you treat EVERY machine you are going to use.
“A little white lie don’t hurt nobody” sayyyy man biggest fact in the video 🤣
Where are you becouse i want to lean it
Until that lie turns into a sea of lies, where truth can never be found.
Then I see those videos on UA-cam of people dropping pallets of eggs n shit lmao
If a accident happens and someone asks for your licence, your fucked
@@samuelsippola7025 you don't need a license to operate a forklift, you only need to be certified by your employer
He just helped a million people learn to drive forklifts and get a job. Including me‼️Thankyou sir.
Was a packer at work got a promotion as a Hilo driver watching your video god bless brother
Best forklifting video ever no cap 🔥💯
I agree
I swear. He made this shit look simple
Kevin Lit after I watch this video I dead ass took peoples forklifts during lunch break idgaf had heads coming back like why tf my shit dead 😂
How osha give you as a certified evem you go down is not correct ..
💯💯💯
Speaking for myself and many, we would pay for an online class like that to show our staff.

man gtfoh who cares fuck you and your job lol
You one of those very few dickheads that exist for no reason
Great video, but some safety points should be noted too, like how to use the tilt to keep your load from sliding off, awareness of how rear wheel steering works so you don't drive off the edge of a loading dock, etc. Also, none of the forklifts I've driven had the lateral movement, you had to drive the load into the correct horizontal position - takes a bit more skill but not particularly difficult.
I got my license today!
im 21, i been pushing shopping carts for 1.7 years now..
Am ready for a new job..
Thanks forklift joe for the easy explanation..
I went for just a lesson today, but the guy said I was better than most people who have a license, (after only being shown how to do it for 15 min a month ago)… which is surprising,
Looking for a job now,
But still gotta practice and get used to the controls, to remember certain things.. So i hope i’m supervised for my first handful of shifts when i get a job..
Cheers from Australia
I don’t really know what I expected when I clicked on this but I walked away with some info I literally needed at my current job cause I was about to get caught looking stupid so thank you my dude I don’t think anybody could’ve taught me any better

Just wanted to come back and thank you bro. I went in for a job as a Crown forklift driver at BMW today. I don’t know 💩 about operating a forklift but I watched your videos last night and I passed the written and verbal test today so I got the job! I start Monday!!! Thank you again bro
Congrats!
This man literally just schooled everyone age ranging all throughout & did it all for free for us yall! I appreciate this man.

You did great bro! But the first thing you wanna do is: inspect the forklift, walk around look for hydraulic fluids, exposed cables, fire extinguisher if it comes equipped with one, check if the horn and seat belt works and check for the annual inspection if it has been inspected and serviced.
Oh. Tutorial on “How to be a Forklift Technician”? Nice.
Won’t you make us a video?
It’s actually what your supposed to do but people that be driving them forever we just keep it pushing

Thats the best video. Easy and simple. The rest you can read in a manual. So go cry to your mama..
Who does that shit
I swear, I thought from the thumbnail this was going to be a meme
,but I got to tell you this,
5 years in the army working in support units, 7 years of construction working with similar vehicles,
this man did a GREAT f****** JOB and he explained it better than I imagined myself explaining it in such a short amount of time.

I love driving the forks, and I’ve been doing it for almost two years. I admire this guy for explaining it in a simple way for new operators. My job is all about rules and OSHA, so I’ve turned into a stickler when I teach new ones.
You have to cover your self.
If there's an accident and you screwed up, they will ruin your day.
Am actually forklift certified, can confirm, this is how to forklift.
No really ?😱
yuh although doest touch on the fork height idle driving safety protocols, doesnt mention 3wheel vs 4 wheels.
also odd for me cuz in Belgium we dont usually use gas/diesel FL's indoors (emissions n all that)
@@magicicecube8233 LP is totally safe to use indoors in warehouses. If you're driving it heavily in an enclosed small room you'll still more than likely be ok but that's the only time it could be bad for your health.
I'm or I am*
@@mikeycrackson the safest height to carry your forks idle would be around shin height so 30-ish cm, this i was told so if you do hit someone the chances for permanent damage are lower(too high risk of impalement. destruction of knee joints, too low ruining peoples ankles) also read your damn weight chart on your Forklift, it's there for a reason. but yes, you've obviously been trained well i can tell. kudos fellow FL certified worker

This is great what a legend. For anyone inexperienced all I can add is never reverse without looking over your shoulder first, if in doubt with an unstable load don't be afraid to ask for a spotter, know your machine and check it's weight limitations (SWL) plate. Be sure to wear your seatbelt 🙂
