- Narrated by Peter O'Sullevan, this is a comprehensive history of the great race that pitches together the classic generation with older horses. From it's inception in 1951 won by Supreme Court and Charlie Elliott to Nashwan and Willie Carson with many of the greats along the way. This really is the distilled essence of some of the greatest thoroughbreds in modern times. Possibly the epoch was the 70s with wins for The Brigadier, two for Dahlia, a feat that has only been equalled by another great filly enabled in more recent years to the epic dual between Bustino and Grundy not to mention Nijinsky's demolition job in 1970 under Lester Piggott who made the race his own with a total of 8 wins.
Great video. Thanks a lot.
Thanks for posting this. I remember buying 4 of the series - King George, Derby, Arc and Eclipse. Brought back wonderful memories as your posts often do.
