I absolutely hate the idea of a 10 second runoff rule for incompletions after 2 minutes. It’ll just ruin the excitement at the end of many games. I bet we have a lot less successful 2 minute drives with it and that just hurts the game.

NateBee, you have to think and make sure a team has smart players on the field and not make those mental mistakes. This 2024 season keep track of those metal mistakes made by your team which cost the TEAM a game.

Its been this way on Sunday for a very long time, at least 20 years. Ive seen games end on false starts under 10s with no timeouts. Ive seen games end (Atlanta @ Detroit 2016? 2017?) end because the last play caused a booth replay which triggers a 10s run off. It doesnt ruin games. It is a penalty to prevent a team taking a penalty to stop the clock when they have no time outs.

The only rules that needed to be changed are: pass interference going back to the old rule where it's at the spot of the foul even past 15 yards, and the definition of when the ball carrier is stopped, where he must be touched while down.
Deliberate pass interference to limit a potential 50-yard pass completion into a 15-yard penalty is bush league. The Long Bomb used to be a much more frequent play under the old rules. A slippery playing surface should never be the leading tackler in a game.

The ten-second runoff is good, but they need to add a new rule when there is a penalty, they should put the time elapsed during the play with the penalty put BACK on the clock. This will stop intentional offensive holding calls when a team is trying to run out the clock in a close game. Put the time BACK on the clock! It is only fair.

LOL All the muggings holdings in the second half was seen in Europe and laughed at. That is how we lose to teams like UM with the 73rd ranked passing offense. A fairly called game is how we prepare our teams to beat the UM's, OSU's etc. We aren't beating them if we aren't calling clear penalties. Do helmets with a radio have the same safety rating as helmets without radio? The extra mass of the helmet with radio may put additional stress on a players neck when hit. How has this been addressed?
What if al of the media timeouts have been used before the 2 minute warning in the 4th quarter? Each team is expecting a one-minute timeout to discuss strategy but if the media has used all its timeouts, they don't get that. Sounds unfair, doesn't it?
I still don't understand why the clock only stops on 1st down in the last 2 minutes of a half? Is there a different game played then? There are other last-2-minute rules that I don't understand. Other than catering to the "media partners", what is the reasoning for these rules? Following up on that, why not have 1-sec runoff throughout the entire game, not just the last 2 minutes of a half? How about simplifying the game rather than making it more complicated?

You turn on the TV, ready to watch the commercial time you purchased, and you find that the game has gone 40 minutes late; your commercial was seen by exactly nobody. Now, it might still play, after the hemmorhoid cream commercial with the smiling lady, but that's not what you wanted. That's why the 10-second runoff rules were put into play, so television stations could more accurately predict game times, and, therefore, keep the customers happy. Is it good for the game? Thank you Michigan for making this happen this year! If it weren't for "Sign Stealing" (which is legal in college football, but the way), we would not have this! #GoBlue

@@AlexGtheOG90 please explain in detail what you think Michigan did and why it is illegal. Sign stealing is not illegal. It appears Stalions found a loophole in a 1994 rule that predates the widespread us of the iPhone by 15+ years.

@@farriskhan2352considering he snuck onto an opposing teams sideline to spy on their signals, I don’t believe that would be “legal”

Go back to what football used to be and let the quarter back make the calls. They used to be the stars of the game, not some dam coach in the stands. Make football great again.
