I lived the dream you spoke about on MULTIPLE levels.
I'm a lifelong MJ fan. I saw my first J5 concert at four years old, saw Destiny and Triumph at the Forum, somehow lucked out to get front row center seats at Dodger Stadium for Victory (caught Randy's shirt when MJ threw it), and I flew home from college in Tennessee TWICE to be in the first 10 rows for what turned out to be the last two full solo concerts he ever performed on US soil for Bad (I flew home for Janet too, but that's another story lol). And then once school was over...
I actually had the great good fortune to spend 5 days at Neverland when Prince was 5 and Paris was 4. (Bigi was an infant the world didn't know about yet). Background: I became friends with Chris Tucker before he was famous and we were SUPPOSED to be working on a screenplay, but we didn't get much work done there lol. Prince and Paris were just the sweetest kids (and I've never fully grown up), so we hung out. Then I actually got to see Michael scold Prince for going to the arcade (with me) without proper permission. It was absolutely surreal to see MJ being a regular dad when Prince tried to throw me under the bus and say that he was just trying to be a good host to a guest who wanted to see it lol. (MJ wasn't home the first three days and came home while we were in the arcade). I completely lost touch with reality in those short few days because the craziest ish just made perfect sense there. Out by the pool one morning, a guy walks up with an elephant and a baby deer on a leash. Next thing I know, my whole arm is down the elephant's throat giving her a can of Mountain Dew. Apparently, she got sweets and muffins on Mondays 🙂.... then Chris comes around the corner dressed head to toe like an Arab prince (I don't know why because I never asked). It didn't seem weird at all when Chris (still in that get-up) was walking the deer like it was a dog on the bridge over the lake. And one day in the theatre Chris LITERALLY said, "When we get back to the states... " - when we were a three hour drive from Los Angeles lol. That place was everything you could have imagined it was - and then some. I've never been happier to be so exhausted (and dirty) in my adult life.
I got the dream as a fan and as a person. And I'll miss him forever.

Great reaction man. They hadn't been on stage together for something like 7 years. But people forget the Jackson 5 were soooo successful in their own right. That's why folks are going mental. You also saw greatness in MJ at 2:29 with that spin. You noticed it, the audience noticed it too. MJ was absolutely on fire in this performance. Also the bit where Jermaine sings with MJ, Jermaine's mic went out so he signalled to MJ and he helped him out. Such an absolute iconic performance.

Despite the personal issues they may have had and the family politics...very powerful to see six brothers united on stage. I think footage of Michael around this time is so bittersweet. Just shows how we never know what's around the corner, both the wildest most miraculous highs and the lows that nearly kill us. Michael was a very strong man who always represented black America with pride, dignity and continued on loving and fighting for the black community even after people said he abandoned his roots. I hope one day his good name is restored.
