Eternal Return, the fourth full length from Richmond, Virginia's heavy psychedelic quartet WINDHAND represents a new era for the group, a chrysalis moment that takes them to new and unforeseen heights. Across nine songs and 63 minutes, Eternal Return is an infectious display of songcraft cloaked in alluring atmosphere, molten fuzz, eerie psychedelia and ethereal vocals. The album was once again produced by Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden) with vivid artwork by Arik Roper (Sleep, High on Fire). Equally informed by heavy, fuzzed-out psych along with the iconic grunge / alternative groups of the 90s, WINDHAND have crafted a record brilliant in scope, powerful in execution, and perfect for an era of increasingly blurry yet still heavy borders.

I like the little red dot that tells you what song it's on..neat!
Yes, this is GREAT!
not now when menstruating..
Very nice touch, even though an album like this needs to be listened to throughout.
microdots tells me what is neat!
Neato!
Today was the first day i heard Windhand. This was meant to happen.
Look up live from elsewhere or the covid live stream concert
Canon event
it was today for me :)
Man i been stuck in the 90’s for so long I never knew there was this whole world of music hidden under all the shit. I gotta lotta catching up to do.
Same here; now to immerse myself in clouds of "FUZZ"
bahaha saaaamme
you won't find the good stuff on the radio, that's for sure
uncle acid and the deadbeats - blood lust
Enjoy the ride!!
When i was lost in the rocky mountains i chose to listen to this album until my phone battery ran out. I gave up; and this is all i wanted to do. It made me very happy. $20k for search and rescue, and im still here, in love with doom [and fuzz]
Wait, in the States you actually have to pay for your search and rescue?
Artur Grzenkowicz Yep. Great place right.
@@arturgrzenkowicz5750 I dont have to "pay", technically.. its just that, my credit score goes down........
@@arturgrzenkowicz5750 yea? You think fuel and all is free or something? When you're trillions in dept you can't be doing "free healthcare" and "free search and rescues"
@@Tysandifer that's actually shocking for us Europeans to hear
When i die bury me in fuzz

What sorcery is this!
Yes sir!
The Fuzz used in this album is perfect
Endless groove drumming, pretty and jaded voice, C Standard Gibson/Rickenbaker full fuzz riffs & Arik Roper artwork... This album is dope!
Absolutely fantastic.....im turning 50 soon and there are so many creative and talented bands ...i hope I live to 100 just to enjoy it all
Light into dark just smokes!
Same here. Nearing 50 Gen Xer feeling lost AF in the modern music scene. Then all of the sudden, this "metal" surfaces and I'm like, "where have I been?" Thanks for bring "rock" back!
@@cliffrockalliance9071 ...right on man! Corporate radio is a joke...this style is right in my wheelhouse...i can get totally lost in this stoner/doom/sludge mix
Playing slow and tuned wayyyy down is the new cool!
me too man or better am 46 and i listen read about and buy music whenever i can since am 13yo........................even tough choosing an LP among the thousands is always really difficult especially considering i like punk hc metal reggae and hard rock stoner doom music in all their sub genres and specifities. best
48 here, same fave song from record.
46, yup
I love the grunge motifs in this album especially the snare fills!
Listening to this while watching Genndy Tartakovsky's PRIMAL... Epic..
Dopethrone brought me here, and I love it 🖤
My recent tattoo artist ley me play her Acid Mammoth's latest album during my appointment and she reccomended me this band. Getting another tattoo in a couple weeks
Good u have the money to do that
Sounds like the start of something beautiful😍
I love you Windhand.
honestly one of the best albums I've ever heard...and I've heard a lot of records
Can't argue with that, well written and well ordered. The last and 1st songs are total bombs like they should be.
me too however Janes addiction.
Blasting, blazing, crushing , smashing- all in a good way!
Atmospheric, Dark, Beautiful, Heavy, Sludgy, Yeah this is a Great Album..!!!
Fuck this shit rips so hard I can’t get enough of this band. Really hope to see them play.
Sweet, they are playing this summer in Denver!!!
windhand is my favorite band.
Accidentally selected this somehow from a Bongripper album, and obviously this was a textbook happy accident.
Oh my gods.... this is a masterpiece of divine proportions.
yes it is
absolutely... they nailed it on this one aaaand it was even really promising on their first release summon the moon etc... pure doom love
It is a pity that these bands are now hard to find. Only found it over Jack Endino wikipedia discography. I fucking love this 90s feel.
Im obsessed with the first track. Its absolutely rocking man. Been repeating it for days now. Solid rock.
Love this band! Just imagining Beavis and Butt-Head's blabber while they watch a video of Halcyon..."She wishes us Wood, Beavis- uh-huh-huh...hmm-hmm yeah Butt-Head...Beavis, "Let the Wood rise" hmm-hmm-uh-huh-huh Yeah that's COOL, these people rock man!"
I can imitate Beavis's voice perfectly and near-perfect Butt-head, and yeah.. that works... except they don't know bands are people.....;)
@@KelticKabukiGirl I think you should really watch their reviews again. See it is not Beavis or Butt-Head speaking. It is the opinion of Mike Judge.
Dude... That's spot on EXACTLY how they'd say it
found this randomly on youtube, bought the album that night
happy 420
the cover art is sick
Right?
This album has been a daily listen for me. It's absolutely fantastic. Doom riffs and gorgeous vocals, I love this album 🤘🤘
Same here, this album helps me those weeks through my studies for exams ahah. I really enjoy the massive song of the drums. Awesome album and band.
Listened to this everyday since release
This and the new yob are amazing! the more i listen, the more i like them
Secrets of Lost Empires ritgteous my slow burnin brother!
Zarthix Creation cdedd
I cannot get enough of this band .They need to release an akbum every day! I have always loved the juxtaposition of an impossibly heavy or brutal sounding band with the fragility and overwhelmingly connected to the earth sound of a woman's voice. The band being powerful in a physical way and the vocals powerful in spirit and soul. Thank you Windhand for putting your music into the world.
fragility seems like the wrong word
Right 👍
Yes, like Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard.
@@wickedcrone3636 The intention behind the words guides me towards "tenderness" rather than "fragility".
one akbum, please
My whole county is on lockdown due to COVID-19, might as well get blazed and listen to some sweet fuzz.
Yea try most of the world
Can def hear the grunge influence but also 90s post-metal at times. And dooooom, of course.
So much more soulful than most doom bands. Like she's actually heard a Muddy Waters record before. The soul sets them apart from the pack.
Yeah, Nirvana and AIC vibe pops out all the time. But I wouldn't compare it with Doom, rather with Stoner. Nice band.
And I think there is some Shoegaze too.
Perhaps that could be tied to the producer, a genius, a sound smith above all other sound smiths.
Dude I’m so glad I discovered this band 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
One of my favorite bands and one of the best bands i've seen live. Sound ridiculously massive
HELL FUCKING YEAH!!!!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
It's like type O, sleep, stasera, and kyuss had a love child. Excellent
and your comment is a child of youtube's stupidty and cliches
Heartbreaking
I'm Still Crying 😭
It's first time I heard that Paradise
DOESN'T DISAPPOINT WINDHAND IS THAT GREAT SLUDGE FUZZ LOVE IT. THANKS TO RELAPSE FOR BRINGING IT AND GREAT JOB WINDHAND. FAVORITE TRACK HALCYON. 💀
There's so much in it of everything you ever liked about Melvins, Dead Meadow, Fu Manchu or even Nirvana 😉❤️
I remember playing with them at a small club in Maryland, a doom festival, right when their first lp came out. Nothing has changed, masssssssive sounding, catchy, perfect.
Windhand > cough
Cough >> Windhand
Just re-visited this album after only really liking First to Die and Grey Garden. Finished loving nearly every song and only just realising how much Eyeshine is the bomb
It's funny how that works. Happened to me many times.
Probably one of the first to say this in a comment. But Channel 33 RPM brought me here. I'm glad I watched that episode. I usually take my sludge in small doses, but this stuff his highly melodic and I'm really digging the singer. Especially since you can understand what they are singing. Kinda reminds me of Alice in Chains or Stone Temple Pilots but with a really sludgy sound. Will definitely be buying this on vinyl asap.

This is a great band. WINDHAND kills!
I really want to see this group live, excellent quality.
perfect album to get blazed on
Foreal
fazeel ashraf doin that as we speak brother
they dont call it stoner metal for nothin
4/20/19!
Or for robo-trippin'.
from all those sabbath-esque bands that have emerged in last decade or so, I like yours fuzz the most. looking forward to see you live this summer, cheers!
It's like they took all the best elements of Black Sabbath, Nirvana, and Pink Floyd and made it a band.
I've been telling people for years "Windhand songs are all basically Nirvana's "In Bloom" meets stoner rock"...you get it!
@@thetreeofwoe2304 I see the nirvana elements in it too and in all doom metal tbh. it can be quite grungy and vice versa
Your Nirvana reference is dead on. In fact, the producer of this album is Jack Endino, the same guy who produced "Bleach" and "In Utero."
I'm hearing it for the first time and the very first thing that came into my mind was: "Nirvana!?".
Unfortunally it bothers me a bit. I already had my fair share of Nirvana when I was a teen lol.
Feather gives meajor nirvana vibes for some reason. Also Alice in chains.
I love "Light Into Dark"
great album, I also like how they mix it up have less heavy songs like Pilgrim's Rest (which sounds like it could be an Elliot Smith song), that makes it more than just an 'Electric Wizard-core' album which is a trap many bands in the doom genre fall into, fortunately Windhand has its own sound and identity.
If you enjoy the more mellow Windhand songs you need to go track down Dorthia's two solo albums, 2015 & 2023, (both on UA-cam) they're absolutely fkn incredible, especially the first S/T one. Not an electric guitar in sight. The girl (she's around my daughter's age) is truly gifted. And this reco is coming from a boomer who normally listens to the most extreme underground black and death metal. I just have a soft spot for Windhand. This one's great, and their first three albums are just as great.
One of the best albums of all time in my opinion - Thanks
Great moody sound! Ever since! love this band!
the drums slam so fucking hard
Listened to three songs. Bought this album cover band shirt on the website. No regrets. Trying to see them live now, gonna have to get up to TN in September!
It hits different on mushroms. It's like an energy wave that lift you and spits you out in another galaxy
Best album ever.
Was listening to Crowbar and this album started playing. I'm 3 songs in and i love it. It has a 90s feel and a little Dax Riggs so far on track 3. I needed this... Edit: I thought there was a little Nirvana in it too. Track 9(feather) confirmed it for me!!
My favorite stone/doom band !! 🤘🤘🤘
Just listened to this while album for the first time ever. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is probably one of my favorite albums ever. Thanks guys heart heart heart heartttttthard
damn they nailed it on this one similar as with tehir debut album

This album makes me want to go on a fantasy adventure
Smoking mother ...i cant get enough of this , the perfect blend ....encore !! ..
What a great album. It dont matter the genre, its all rock n roll to me!
I wish my walls would stop melting 🌛🌜💀
Hahaha melt with them
Has anyone found a fix for this? Seriously asking for a friend :)
My brain is melting

The. AI knows me too well!!
Cause this band FKN SLAYS!! 🤘🏻
i was listening to Ritual Knife by Uncle Acid when this album popped up in my recommendations too. haven't listened to Windhand before but I'm halfway into the album and I'll definitely listen again. 👍
Hi Acid covenant
This song sounds like a good doobie smells.....just wonderful.
Yes!
Love at first sound.
The only female fronted band I LOVE 🤘🤘
Dude, like my mom and I, we made this pedal, and it glows in the dark if you spin it counter clockwise when you play Candyland.... in the nude.
It's a distortion/fuzz hybrid.
dude you're stoned
This album is sooo epic
Massive grooves with vocals like sweet nectar. Reminds me of Acid King.
They just rocked Brooklyn, NYC last night. Wicked good
This is an incredible album. Start to finish
psychedelic music is the greatest music
Eyeshine is really something
damn.. thats good. i thought things like that couldn't be released nowadays
Beautiful, I will buy the Vinyl at the next concert.
Listening to this for what I think is the very first time and seeing them tonight!! Pretty stoked
Oh man, i forgot about these guys, thanks Relapse!! Great Stuff Windhand! Killer Merch too
i like, the sound is very solid, nice voice, the cover remember me a fable. Cool! Good job!
Classic album right here.
I love it !! Windhand riff is so awsome 🖤
this is perfect. i love the mix of grunge in it
This is a perfect transition from Dorthias new solo album. Came on right after and it’s pretty fitting.
really want this on vinyl. its incredible:)!
I'm an AC⚡DC fanatic, and it's possible that I will be an Windhand fanatic, too. Great Band!
🤘
The metal is alive❤
YES.
They should be called Witch-hand, or Windhand in the purple sky, or Windhand and The Octarine sound of the Goddess, because their music is true Magick!!!
Nice
Awesome album. I think First to Die is my favorite song on here
First time listening on a recommendation from a Brother. Great stuff, I definitely need to check out more. Favorite bands are anything from Mike Patton, Devin Townsend, Melvins, Napalm Death, Yob and Neurosis mostly.
all slap
Great album!
Been playing this non stop the last few days, fantastic album!!
