I always enjoy your build videos of everyday shop tools. I can only imagine the satisfaction you feel when you get to use these on your other projects. Well done, sir!
I like this design very much. I also like this style of video for these simple projects. Just enough information for anyone who buys the plans to be able to successfully build a truck load of these clamps. Cheers, Mark.
Very cool project and easy to do! Clever solution for the moving pad to make sure it turns. Without that the clamp would be a pain in the ass to use! I liked it a lot!
I really like the notched bar John. When I saw it the first time I thought "where do you get that kind of bar?" Then you showed the filing... Yeah man!
Great project John. Seems to be deceptively simple to make! And I think 7.5 inches of clamping width is fine, most often I use those size clamps for gluing up wood that is about and inch or two in depth.
Another great "John Clamp". Others will say toucan buy them cheap elsewhere, but where is the enjoyment and pride in having built a simple one yourself? Your videography is always changing for the better!
nice and easy design John, And I fully agree with you, for the price of the plans and the amount a person will save by building them as opposed to buying a set, it's well worth the money. I might enjoy my job, but I sure don't work for free ;)
Your best clamp yet! Im curious, what made you want to start making your own tools such as all these different styles of clamps? Was it simply cheaper, or did you know you could make a better quality than you could buy? Or was it just to see if you could?
I bought some small clamps like this from Home Depot. They are crap, as you tighten it down it just slips. You get what you pay for. May have to give this a try. Thanks for Sharing John. Nice thing about this I guess you can make a longer clamp and use the same handle and just change them.
John, All the instructions are clear and logical. There's only one thing I do not understand: WHY do you specify the wooden pad's grain direction goes sideways? How does that matter?
Sturdy useful clamp. Nice job on this John.
Professional looking clamp and professional looking video as usual John. Good work
Very easy way to build a clamp. I love it! Thanks John!!

Thanks!
I love that you make so much of your shop tools yourself. And that they're made from wood, with a lot of ingenuity is genius. Thank you!

Top notch again John. Nice design. I might try to make it in a long reach clamp. Good video production too
nice job - usefull in light aplications as you said...thanks from Brazil
Hello John,
Very nicely done. The only criticism I would make is I think brass threaded bar would be better with the thought of rust.
Nicely done, for your next challenge make it out of Plexiglas.
I really like this design. Very well done sir. I'll be getting those plans.
Thanks a bunch.
Another awesome job. Thank you for a great build.

Ficou muito bom e funcional.
Thanks John, I need some clamps and they are way to expensive here.
Very nice. Do you think ash would work ok. I have an abundance of that stuff. I think i might make some of these.
John,
All the instructions are clear and logical. There's only one thing I do not understand: WHY do you specify the wooden pad's grain direction goes sideways? How does that matter?
+Learner-Learns
The edges of the pad that overhang on either side will be more likely to break off if the pad is oriented the other way.
Thank You !
