Great to hear from you again Tina! I hope you are still enjoying your new home. I canned beet greens and did the same thing. Ended up with half the jar with greens in it! Thanks for sharing.
Last year I did beet greens.they looked like they had less in them than yours. I was going to dump the but tried it 1st. Wow were they good. I will pack as tight as I can get them but will fo again
I've never had this problem with collards. Just every other green I've done. Maybe I haven't had the problem with collards because I grow them in Utah and the climate makes them tuffer
@@maryjane-vx4dd Just a weird thought but could the whole kale (or collard) leaf, stem and all just be pureed after first boil before putting into jars for set boil?
It’s so nice to see a new video. Might I ask for some ideas for serving the kale? I have only boiled kale in chicken stock and served like spinach. Whatever is left in the fall I juice and freeze for winter smoothies. What do you do at your house?
You turned commenting off on your old video for canning brown sugar so just wanted to pop in here and let you know..OMG that stuff is off the hook good just canned it today. I used a candy thermometer for the syrup amount and it is just divine had a neighbor taste test it, she didn't want to give the spoon back lol. Anna In Ohio.
Couldn't you get any child labour to help with stripping the leaves? I thought if you had product floating it meant you hadn't "cooked" it enough to remove the air from the product. I just did rhubarb, and I swear it was stuffed full, but it was half liquid when finished canning, and yes, the rhubarb sank, and the liquid has been absorbed, but I have half filled jars.

We pickled the Lacinato Kale stems both sweet and savory with garlic. Everyone thought it was an exotic green!
Love it! Didn't know I could.. well the kale in the garden is going in jars! Thanks lady :)
😳 so glad you recorded this. Thank you!!
Good to hear from you again!
Thank you for this one ... Can not wait to get some kale.
Thanks so much. Guess I hadn't thought about canning kale.

@@soniabrannan412 OMG that sounds 😋 delicious. Thx for sharing recipe!
You do this with canned or fresh too?
Hi Tina!! Was thinking of you and thought I would pop on to give ya a wave 😎
I have canned Swiss chard for the last four years and I always struggled with it....
Geez youd almost have to frign puree it to pack any more in before water boil, right?

I'd say chop it after you strip and shred. It will help compact
Off topic but just wondered...
How is Snowflake ?
She’s doing good!

🥰 good to hear 🐶
I’m surprised you thought it was worth canning again. Big pain.
