    Nice video. Though it does assume that the room being worked on is perfectly square and that all corners are perfect right angles! I just used this product on my terraced house lounge and there isn't a right angled corner in the place. Plus the ceilings and walls are very uneven, it's an old house. That has meant lots of gaps between joints which I've had to fill.

    • @ricosrealm
      @ricosrealm 2 роки тому +1

      Exactly. You need a mitre saw and measure the angles for a precise cut.

    • @designer-garb572
      @designer-garb572 2 роки тому +7

      @@ricosrealm All you need is a pencil and a saw to cut it, hold a small offcut into the corner on one wall and draw a pencil line top and bottom on the ceiling and wall where the cove meets then repeat on the adjacent wall, then hold up the full length and mark on your cove where both pencil lines cross on the ceiling, this will give you a perfect mitre every time regardless of angle, works for both internal and external angles also bay windows, it's literally a fool proof method and no tools or measurements required.

      @@designer-garb572 Hey, could you explain in more detail what you mean by that? Are you drawing a pencil line on the ceiling and wall itself? And what do you mean by where pencil lines cross? Explain like I'm stupid 😅

      @@HiddenLotus9 OK, For example, let's say you wanted to put some coving up around a bay window with lots of angled cuts, you simply take a short piece ( 5 to 10 inches) but the length is unimportant as long as it is not in your way, you hold the piece in place at the correct drop (85mm from the ceiling) then draw a pencil line on the ceiling making sure your line is longer than the actual cove would protrude, then repeat moving the small piece to the next part of the wall where you want to cove and draw another pencil line on the ceiling where the cove meets the ceiling, your 2 ceiling lines should cross, now when you cut a piece to the correct length you can hold it up to the ceiling and where your pencil line crosses you mark the edge of the cove, making sure the bottom of the cove is sat 85m below the ceiling and into the corner, only imporant thing you have to remember is that when cutting the coving you have to make sure that you have the edge you marked against the floor, or upside down, it is 2 second job to mark this way and it will always give you perfect results, even if you are fitting a large fancy plaster cornice with a long ceiling extrusion it stil works, hope that helps

      @@designer-garb572 Thanks a lot for the comprehensive reply. I was able to understand it now. And for others, I found a video demonstration of the technique too - called "Cornice + Coving Ceiling Interior Exterior Angles + Mitre Cuts" on UA-cam

    Attention! This is a demonstration video with perfect 90 degree angles and perfectly straight walls. Your house walls WILL NOT be perfect, so i suggest do a lot more research and preparation before doing it yourselves! Cheers!

      As a decorator I can tell you 50% or more walls/ceilings are not straight. Best to check it first! It will save a lot of stress later!

    you can hang super cove without nails if you use plenty of adhesive and is reasonably easy to move about into position if you need to it's good stuff. Differently much easier using super cove especially when doing the job yourself.

    If you don't have an electric mitre saw or a nail gun, borrow one or rent one. You'll get a faster, cleaner cut with an electric mitre saw and nails are permanent, whereas adhesive or glue shrink and dry out over time. Find the studs in your wall and mark them with a pencil mark just below the bottom of where your molding will be. Nail the molding to the wall above your pencil marks. Finish off the top and bottom of the molding with a continuous line of paintable caulk. Sink the nails and smooth the indent with paintable caulk. Erase or wash-off the pencil marks.

      Saves a lot of hassle. Also use no nails at intervals (not all the way along) as this saves on cost and a lot of hard graft should you want to remove them in the future. B&Q would struggle to put up a shelf!
