I recently found your lovely podcast and I decided to watch them chronologically. But now I just have to leave a comment, because my heart skipped a beat when I heard about Estonia. Because I am from Estonia! Our small country doesn't get much publicity so it is so nice to hear it mentioned. When I heard the cranes before Estonia was mentioned, I instantly felt that something feels so familiar and like at home in this sound. Because we have cranes nesting 500 m from our house and their beautiful calls always marks the beginning of spring for us. That proves how unconcious we are about sounds that surround us and actually influence us so much. Thank you for making this wonderful podcast and I am so happy that I have so many episodes to watch :)

What a great interview with Felicity Ford. She is such a source of inspiration, so original, positive, and humble. The song at the end was hilarious! It wrapped up yet another fantastic episode.
I am watching all the episodes once again. There is a bittersweet feeling in my heart as i knit, each stitch a thought for Andrew and Andrea and Madeleine.

What a fantastic episode. I lived in North Yorkshire for 14 years before moving to New Mexico, USA. As a photographer I loved the farmers and lambingtime. So many lamb shots. I knew many of the sounds as I spent many hours with my camera in lambing sheds. Then the Filati book, way before I had a wool shop in Belgium, sadly enough went bankrupt. My wool was Valentino, Missoni and Filatura de c(r?) osa. Beautiful wool. Your archive piece took me straight back to my knitting days in Belgium. So glad I found your podcasts. Doing them all! Thank you for bringing back lovely memories.

Most amazing interview with such a lovely creative person. I just loved how she connected to the world and I loved that song at the end. It was so warming hearing the community connection of ladies laughing together. I was touched.

Oh that interview was unbelievable :-) Just recently I have been thinking about how there is a lot of pressure to "think outside the box", "bring something new", "be extraordinary" in the creative process.....and then I can see so many kind of purposeless endeavors to make smt new, just in order to make smt new. And it does not work very well (not everyone should or wants to be a pioneer) and it is best seen in cases like this, when the "something new" or "outside the bow" just organically happens and is pursued with a sense of purpose, sustainability and love for beauty - and it shows so obviously. Thanks! I love watching you two and loved KNITSONIC today!

So glad to have found you! A little late to the party, but I am enjoying it nonetheless!!
I am binge-watching the old ones starting from the first episode. Don't want to miss any! This was a very fun episode though. Now remaining.. Episode 13-99! Have a lot to catch-up, (bar a few from between I have randomly watched) :D. Great podcast

The interview with Felicity was good for the soul. I really liked Andrew‘s questions to Andrea in the Under Construction Segment, they were totally the things that I would like to have asked.

I’m a bit late in coming to your podcast, but started from the beginning per a recommendation I had and am thoroughly enjoying every single bit of each segment of every podcast. From the scenery, to the music, to your lovely relationship with each other, your wisdom and instruction when it comes to knitting and all the fun bits with interviews and Knitters of the World. The ending of this one reminded me of myself and my long time girlfriends sitting around a table playing Dominos or crafting! So much fun!

I have been watching your episodes as they come out for about a year but am now going back to see the early ones. I loved meeting Felicity Ford in this episode. I have hear her on Cast On podcast by Brenda Dayne in the past but have never seen her. She is full of inspiration and fun. The song was wonderful and I am pretty sure I heard Brenda Dayne’s voice in the group of friends!

It feels like we have a ringside seat at what's happening at the creative edge of the knitting world. Thank you so much! This podcast made me laugh so much. I love Felicity and the story of how she came to knitting and then went on to combine her work with sound with knitting/wool is just fantastic. Her work is amazing and I plan to get her book. The snippet an the end is what had me laughing. I was watching the podcast while I made "breakfast cookies"; which are actually very healthy cookies and full of great ingredients including raisins. I was making the messy dough into patties as Felicity was singing about raisins. I feel inspired to take lots of photos next time I visit home, the West of Ireland, so I can work on colour work patterns that capture the scenery I love and miss. Thank you for the variety and quality you provide in you podcast. I know it must take a lot of time and effort.

Absolutely loved your interview with Felicity Ford, what an interesting personality and so passionate about her chosen interests.
Nearly up to date with all your fabulous podcasts. The mix of content is just perfect for me, knitting, spinning, classical music, opera and Germany etc., etc. Very balanced presentation from you both and fascinating watching Andrews growth from beginning knitter to the present, a case study in it's self. I have also suffered from RSI around the elbow region and it threatens to reappear at times. Thanks for all your efforts. Jenny

I really enjoyed the interview with Felicity Ford - I have heard her mentioned numerous times by Kate Davies. Your projects are both very impressive, too. The book ist bought and a project startet. Your tips and interviews are very interesting and I like the whole thing. I also have dogs, two Airedale, sometimes very fashionable after trimming. You know.
Because in some way you also are funny as a couple, it is really much more better than TV watching you. I found your podcasts only recently so am still trying to catch up. I just watched Episode 12 and in it Jeni Reid is wearing a gray and blue cardigan sweater at the end of the series while she is sitting overlooking the ocean. I could not find this pattern on her web site. Is there any way to find out more about this lovely sweater? Also, is it possible to become a patron by paying once instead of in monthly installments? Best yet, what a great interview with Felicity Ford - I thoroughly enjoyed it! I heard some mention of the purl rows on the Knitting Pipeline audio podcast at the beginning of the summer. Paula called it 'rowing out' and there was a suggested solution. Something to with the angle at which the needle enters?

    • @FruityKnitting
      @FruityKnitting  8 років тому +2

Hi Claire, Andrew here. I will chase that up on Knitting Pipeline. I have only listened to a few episodes (one went into the difference between ... Slip Slip Knit and something else ... very heated debate). Paula is charming, and I must mention that I learnt bagpipes for a (very) short period of time, and Andrea used to play the side drum in a pipe band. When we retire we will be our very own pipe band. It isn’t every day someone explains, in depth, their ‘thing’, where their pure joy at what it’s all about GeNuInElY comes out in profundity ... but not forced, and not self/object-deprecating. This woman truly adores her life and obcession.
    An equal joy to watch.
I immediately posted this to a photo album of harmonics I have on Facebook for any / all who appreciate sound as music in a far-flung way. Even if they don’t like the track, they’ll enjoy the description.

To combat the tension issue between knitting and purling you can try using a smaller needle on the side when you are purling and the regular needle on your knitting side.

    • @FruityKnitting
      @FruityKnitting  8 років тому

Hi - Andrew here. I've actually stuck it out and my tension is pretty good now. Someone suggested using a different needle for the purl row, but I was never really keen on the idea. I figured it was better to work on the technique, otherwise I'd be stuck with this problem... Cheers, Andrew.

The interview was amazing, but most funny was the last, the last song, without rhyming "Strawberry".
Now there is a very sad strawberry
    in my garden
All the other funny guys that rhyme
    with strawberry
    like raspberry,
    boysenberry,
    blueberry,
were out for a walk and ended up in a jam.
    Now the strawberry
    was in a funk,
    was feeling blue,
(which is a very bad stage for a strawberry, believe me!)
because nobody loved it enough to rhyme with it.
Along came Jerry, Harry and Larry,
    And kindly agreed to rhyme
    with strawberry.
Now the strawberry was happy, and rhymed happily ever after with Jerry, Harry and Larry.

Hi Pat. Andrea had mentioned that she was going to quiz me, and I had seen some of the numbers, so it wasn't entirely spontaneous. But I do try to do mental arithmetic and avoid the calculator (and I encourage our daughter Madeleine to as well). My dad was very keen on maths - tutored at Melbourne University in his retirement, and taught a class at the University of the Third Age (not sure whether you know that organisation, more European and also in Australia). I work with telephone numbers at the moment, which is not quite maths...
