Camille, that's spelled both ex-WONDER WOMAN 💃🏻 Lynda (but not Linda) Carter (née Lynda Jean Cordova Carter) and ex-BIONIC WOMAN 💃🏻 Lindsay (but not Linsey) Wagner (née Lindsay Jean Wagner).
Thank-you Russ B for sharing this heartfelt video. I grew-up being influenced by Wonder Woman and the Bionic Woman, such real life strong and compassionate people, Lynda and Lindsay.
Linda Carter looks just as babe-o-licious today as she did back then. I (and virtually every 10 year old boy back then) was completely in love with Wonder Woman. And a lovely woman too.
I believe in 1974 the first woman to have a one hour starring role in a drama series that became successful had to be Angie Dickinson in "Police Woman". Because of that show many females became police women. In 1976 there was Bionic Woman,Wonder Woman then Charlie's Angels all successful one hour drama series with a woman in the lead role.1973 had "Get Christie Love" with a woman in the lead role. That series last one season. In the last sixties there was "The Girl from Uncle" a one hour drama series with a woman in the lead role. That show lasted one season.Police Woman because of its success open doors for more women to star in a one hour series.
I totally agree. It would have been interesting to have Wonder Woman join Bionic Woman in battling the very strong and powerful "FEMBOTS" on the Bionic Woman show especially since both Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman were on ABC channel 7.
If you want to see Lynda in a different role, check out the Hawkeye series. It was a French-Canadian series that ran for one season in the mid-nineties. It was based on Last of the Mohicans and Lynda is great in it!
No her 1st husband was Ron Samuel's he represented Lindsay Lynda and Jaclyn Smith too. Her 2nd husband was caught up in that controversy and he recently died from blood cancer I believe very young early 70s Robert Altman.
My 2 biggest crushes from the 70's together. What a dream that would be. While they do look good, if have to say Linda has aged better. She still has that great smile and gorgeous blue eyes. I never knew this until recently, but back in 1979 she and her mother were booked to travel on American Airlines flight 191, but she didn't board because she felt very uneasy about getting on the plane and begged her mother to book a different flight. The plane ended up crashing right after takeoff, killing 271 people on-board. I remember the accident because there was a huge investigation into DC-10's after that. It is the deadliest plane accident in US history to this day. Talk about having a premonition. She may not be bionic, but she may have a different power. Ironically, another person had a premonitions of an American Airlines plane going down the same month that the crash happened. He was so unnerved that he called the FAA and American and told him if this, but there really wasn't anything they could do. All he saw was a plane crashing into buildings. After the crash, they investigated him as a possible terrorist who caused the crash, but didn't find any wrong doing. He stated after the crash that his dreams stopped
There were no women on TV, only MTM, Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett and their shows were boring. Then along came Lindsay and Lynda and things changed. Two legends. Two friends. Two stars. Two shows. Two legacies. Two great careers. Both still shining brightly to this very day. We salute both of them.
OK for those in the comments asking ,"what about Mary Tylor More, or Elizabeth Muoguery in BeWitch,etc.... " Those were comodies, and only half an hour but WW and BW were hour long strong female leading Acton roles, which Pave the way for Police Woman, Charlie s Angles. ( I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. But yeah..).
Police Woman was the first successful one hour drama series with a woman in the lead role. The year 1974. 1976 saw Bionic Woman, Wonder Woman followed by Charlie's Angels. 1973 had "Get Christie Love" a one hour drama series with a woman in the leading role. That show only lasted one season. With the success of Police Woman that page the way for other one hour shows with a woman in a starring role.
I would have said Elizabeth Montgomery was. She was the lead player in Bewitched. Although it had an ensemble cast, she carried the whole thing. Dick York was replaced because his back difficulties made it impossible for him to carry on. Other regulars popped in, were back and forth, but Elizabeth was central to it's success. Only by some miraculous feat of magic could she have been replaced.
It would've been great if back then they had one episode (maybe a 2 part episode) where they crossed over...like when 6MilMan and BioWoman crossed over because one aired right after the other. I mean, one worked for OSI and the other for IADC, not too far fetched that the two agencies could collaborate on one mission and send their respective agents, Jaime Sommers and Diana Prince. Of course, Diana would've had to tell Jaime her secret.
It was Julie London, Angie Dickinson, Lynda Carter, Lindsay Wagner Queen Latifiah, Jada Pinkett Smith Volia Davis,Angela Bassett ,Jurnee Smollett Bell in the mix of legends and upcomers!
Bobby Sy Go, funny U should say that cuz they did have a crossover comic with this very same plot that u just described. It was an awesome story! It felt just like BOTH TV shows came together! I loved it!!!
Expect for a Picture, I didn't see or hear Lindsay Wagner speak. They should have done a Crossover Episode of Wonder Woman and the Bionic Woman teaming up. Different Networks perhaps or maybe they didn't do Crossover Episodes back in the 1970's Also, I think there were many other TV shows that had women on them. They may have been more Comedy Shows- That Girl, Mart Tyler MOore Show, Hazel, etc, etc.
I love them and grew up watching them, but what Linda said about being the first isn't really true unless she means women in action / superhero type roles. As someone mentioned below, there was Lucille Ball, Mary Tyler Moore, and Carole Burnett. And what about That Girl, Julia, and Maude? Women were certainly on TV in lead roles before Linda and Lindsay.
*i love Lynda but...Lindsay wasn't the '1st'...before her there were Lucille Ball, Hazel Scott, Betty White, Donna Reed, Marlo Thomas and Diahann Carroll, Mary Tyler Moore & Carol Burnett. Lindsey was the 1st 'Action Heroine' on TV perhaps.* 📺
I love Lynda, but she's too intelligent to make such a bizarrely inaccurate statement about the first leading lady on a TV show. I mean, let's start with Lucille Ball & work our way down. She probably means the first female leading ACTION star.
Well, I am upset! Why the heck isn't she on Hollywood Blvd with the other stars? Why far away in the obscure Palm Springs? Rarrah has a star on Hollywood Blvd which is well deservedd but not for nothing Farrah is NOT an Emmy winner. She was nominated but lost. Lindsey's star should be in Hollywood. That's my feeling anyway.
Can feel their Love for each other as friends.. Wonder Woman and the Bionic Woman!! Thanks x
I just loved Linda and Linsey they nailed their rolls in tv
Camille, that's spelled both ex-WONDER WOMAN 💃🏻 Lynda (but not Linda) Carter (née Lynda Jean Cordova Carter) and ex-BIONIC WOMAN 💃🏻 Lindsay (but not Linsey) Wagner (née Lindsay Jean Wagner).
Well, it's true.

My two favourite superhero woman !!!! Love both since my childhood ,I’m 51 now steel love Lindsay& Lynda
Love Lindsay Wagner! Always thought she was so beautiful and such a great actress! So talented! And Wonder Woman is her friend!
Agree very talented actress and gorgeous
Thank-you Russ B for sharing this heartfelt video. I grew-up being influenced by Wonder Woman and the Bionic Woman, such real life strong and compassionate people, Lynda and Lindsay.
Nakedoli
Her eyes are as beautiful as her soul. Very good song of Chris Isaak at the end!
They are Gorgeous!!❤❤💋❤💋
goodness still glorious
Wow the two divas of strength are actually friends in real life - who knew.
Knowing these two superheroes were always good friends is awesome! They are both a gorgeous class act!
I had such a crush on Linda Carter when I was 8.
She is still naturally beautiful.
They were both my heroes as a young girl, who I most wanted to be like.the closest I ever got to a girl crush. I still love them both and always will.
Linda Carter looks just as babe-o-licious today as she did back then. I (and virtually every 10 year old boy back then) was completely in love with Wonder Woman. And a lovely woman too.
Look at all those beautiful gals!
Meu Deus!!! Como é linda essa mulher!!!
2 icons.
Actually Elizabeth Montgomery was. She was the lead actress for Bewitched and supported by the other cast same as MTM etc...
Yep. Charlie's angels came a long with 3 ladies carrying a series. That was also a first.
I believe in 1974 the first woman to have a one hour starring role in a drama series that became successful had to be Angie Dickinson in "Police Woman". It'd have been interesting to see Wonder Woman and Jaimie Sommers joining forces to fight Evil.
I totally agree. It would have been interesting to have Wonder Woman join Bionic Woman in battling the very strong and powerful "FEMBOTS" on the Bionic Woman show especially since both Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman were on ABC channel 7.
That is mighty sweet and nice 👍🏿🙂🙏🏿🙏🏿
Bellas las dos

Great video, They both are still gorgeous women... to either one or both. ..call me...
Their names are Lynda Carter and Lindsay Wagner. Lynda's husband was also Lindsay's agent in the 70's.
Wasn't Lynda's CArter's husband involved in one of those Big Bank Scandals and was arrested or something for that.
No her 1st husband was Ron Samuel's he represented Lindsay Lynda and Jaclyn Smith too. Her 2nd husband was caught up in that controversy and he recently died from blood cancer I believe very young early 70s Robert Altman.
Love Lindsey and Lynda!
Girl Power!!

OH SWEETNESS
ROCKS
You misspelled her first name. The correct spelling is L-Y-N-D-A. Can something be done to fix the problem, please? Thank you.

Y Elizabeth Montgomery and Barbara Eiden
Perfect video....but it's Lynda, Lynda, Lynda...every guy knows that

She was the 1st hour show.. not 1/2 as Mary Tyler or Bewitched
My fanboy meter just snapped and flew off into the ether.
Poderiam colocar legenda, para as pessoas que não sabem a língua norte americana.
I believe in women's rights.

@@musicmike09 That is true. Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman did team up in the comic book.
It’s Lynda not Linda.

There is another video on You-tube of Linday accepting the award and speaking.
Why does she say there was no women im television? There was, I think both women showed they could play female characters that kick butt.

It's Lynda NOT Linda.

Russ B., that's spelled ex-WONDER WOMAN 💃🏻 Lynda (but not Linda) Carter (née Lynda Jean Cordova Carter).
Well, it's true.
I mean strength and beauty...
It's Lynda, not Linda. :)
That's right ▶️, Sheldon! Lynda Carter (née Lynda Jean Cordova Carter), that is.
what about Mary Tyler Moore and Rhoda? Carrol Burnett?
I love Lynda, but she's too intelligent to make such a bizarrely inaccurate statement about the first leading lady on a TV show. I mean, let's start with Lucille Ball & work our way down. She probably means the first female leading ACTION star.
