Amazing Chinese painting!😍👍
Thank you, So Ha Lo! I appreciate your feedback!
I have suffered for years with intractable pain. Watching you work and listening to Mr. Harvey's music helped me to push it to the back of my mind for a little while. I subscribed and plan to watch them all again. They are all very beautiful and it is amazing watching you you paint with such precision and mastery. Wonderful. Thank you so much! Please do more.
So glad you liked it! I hope you enjoy your painting lessons; you are at the start of a grand adventure!
Happy painting!
I love this painting and will attempt it. Thank you!
Thanks, Rita! Have fun! Use a side stroke for the flowers and the tip of the brush held vertically for the leaves.
I am having my first painting lesson today....I have been teaching myself to draw and am amazed at the results, just hope I have the same with watercolors......But watching your video I am almost in tears it's so emotional, it's so beautiful. Thank you.
Dear Kate, thanks for telling me this! I always enjoy hearing that my videos have helped people. Happy painting!

@AMNueca In this DVD I am using double shuen (thick) rice paper which I have pre-mounted on a board. The brushes are traditional Chinese round brushes made from natural animal hair. I like hard or springy hair, described in catalogs as weasel or wolf hair, or bamboo/orchid brush. If I am painting peonies, I may use a softer goat hair brush.
I live in Ohio. I picked up some supplies in Chinatown, San Francisco. I really like your easy style, it flows & is soft and beautiful. Can't wait to watch more of your videos.
Thanks, Sue! You might also want to check out my painting page on facebook listed under VirginiaLloydDavies, Joyfulbrush.. I put up a lot of posts and pictures of what I'm currently working on.
You did very good job. I like your work. It is so amazing. And at first I thought it was done by a Chinese master artist.
The perfect painting. Simple authentic and beautiful. Thank you so much
Thanks, Sue! Good to know you enjoyed it!
Love your beautiful simplicity. Will try this. I'm a true beginner.thanks for sharing
Thanks, Mary. The crocus is quite simple to paint. Be sure your brush has a gradation of color on it, not solid color.
Love your flowers,there lovely!🎨💜😀
+Tammy Degrasse Thanks, Tammy! Glad you enjoyed them!
Beautiful!!!
Absolutely beautiful
+Leah Faraci Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! You may find my joyfulbrush website blog interesting. I've been putting up short videos and mini-tutorials for a couple of months.

Very beautiful art!! Compliments!!
Your picture is very good ~♡
Thank you, Virginia. I will check it out.
Thank you for the reply. Yes it is exciting, I can't belive the feel good factor learning to draw and paint has given me. I don't have the correct materials at the moment a few brushes and a few tubes of paint but that is not important at the moment. I am just practicing making shapes and learning how to use the colors.
Maddie.
If you are trying Chinese brush painting or Japanese sumi-e, the most important item is the proper Chinese brush. It's worth spending some money on that (I buy bamboo/orchid brushes for around US$25). A small bottle of permanent Chinese black ink and newsprint paper to start off will get you on the road.
Beautiful. I love it.
stunning work. you made it look so simple. have tried chinese painting but so far can only paint a fish.
I am using silk dyes, which are water based, but not regular watercolor paints.
Thank you very much, your advice is going to save me a lot of time and money.
Maddie.
Beautiful
Great!
Thx a lot for the sharing! I always watch them before I go to bed. Would you mind to show us how to do the Po Mo technique on utube?
Thanks, James. I am trained by a Chinese master from Jiangyin near Wuxi in China.
@THESHOMROM Thank you for letting me know that our painting and music video has helped you forget your pain for a while. I strongly believe that beauty has healing properties; I feel blessed to be able to offer my skills in this way and I hope that you will continue to find ways to alleviate your pain. I wish you joy and peace.

I like these water color
Thanks! You can see more on my blog at joyfulbrush
Thanks so much for this really enjoyed it so beautiful
beautiful
Thanks, Carol!
lindo trabalho!
Your painting is beautiful. Would it be possible on showing us how you dip the paint on the brushes? I know Chinese or Sumi-e painting has special techniques on how you position the lighter color and heavy colors on the brush. That part is missing on the video. I hope you will consider my request on your next video. Thanks!
+Elaine Ries Thanks for your comment. If you go to my UA-cam channel and check my tutorial videos, you will see I have several that include loading the brush. If you check my website blog, you will also see several videos that may be helpful. Good luck and happy painting!
Дивно и просто!

Thanks for watching! This is a Chinese bamboo brush made from animal hair. It is used for painting and for writing calligraphy in China and Japan. It is essential for painting in this style. You can see more of my paintings on my face book page. Just type in face book and then /VirginiaLloydDavies
You make it look so simple. amazing. What kind of paper are you using for this particular painting? Double shuen? Thank you. Judith
Hi Judith! This was filmed while I was demonstrating at a 3-day wine festival on Long Island, NY. I was definitely "in the zone" and the brush was dancing! I pre-mounted double shuen on board so I could move it around for the camera. I was also using silk dyes, hence the vivid colors.
virginiald como hago para tomar clases, o tu vendes los cursos por videos? y como los adquiero espero tu respuesta ok abrazos

Virginia Lloyd-Davies
me encanto¡¡¡ muy bello GRACIAS¡¡¡¡¡
I LOVE your loose and confident style Virginia. I paint flowers in watercolour myself, but with the chinese brush technique you've taken watercolour to a 'fresh' level in the western world for the better. Keep up the super work! (PS: if you want to see my watercolour blog: nickfeganart.com)
Thanks, Nick! It's all those years of practice that loosened up the brush! Incidentally I went to the link you posted but it didn't work.
Thanks for the compliment! No, I am not Chinese but I am well trained by Chinese master painters.
do you have any prints of this painting for sale? how much & price of postage. with thanks C.
It's really great!
Which kind of paper do you use?
Hi Natalya! Glad you enjoyed it! I paint on single or double xuan "rice" paper. When I am filming I generally pre-mount the paper on board so I can move it around better for the camera.
Excellent. India
Thanks!
Simplement BEAU!
WOW!!!!!
like your signature, 惟仁 right ?
Yes, that's right! I've never seen it written 'in print'! Thanks for asking!
你畫的很好!!good!!
What kind of brush are u using...thx, mary l
It's a 'basic hard', fairly small size. You could also use a 'basic soft'. There doesn't see to be much difference. The important thing is that it holds enough water and color for the stroke, and that it comes to a point. Good luck!
this is water color or what ?
What kinda brush are you using ?
How long have you been practicing?
A l-o-o-o-o-n-g time! Chinese brush painting is like singing or dancing - you have to keep in practice, otherwise you get stiff. I took my first class in about 1976 and I've been practicing ever since. It's a good thing I enjoy it! Happy painting!

What is a Chineese brush made of? Is it Kolinsky Sable?
Chinese brushes are made of different animal hair, depending on the purpose of the brush. If you go to my materials blog on my website joyfulbrush you can read in detail about this.

Tulips and Bees (not crocus).
