@@williamdew7497 Perfectly fine! It's in the garage for the winter, but it hasn't given me any trouble. I enjoy watching your videos and have been for a while but didn't see this until tonight. You posted this two years ago and I'm sure you sold by now it so you won't be upset with me. I'm a big Mercedes person. I own a 2010 C300 and maintain it well. Before this, I had a 2006 C280 (one year before the 2007 - the last W203). For those who want to buy a W203, 6 cylinder, beware of the infamous balance shaft issue that plagues all of them from 2004-2007, unfortunately. And it plagued my 2006, too. I won't get into that issue here since you can google it. I wound up trading in my 2006 for my 2010 and never had the problem fixed. The car will still run decent with the check engine light on but if you live in an emissions state like me, you can't pass inspection. The repair bill for the balance shaft (it's really the sprocket but you do the entire thing) is around $4,500. The high bill has to do with the labor; it's an engine out job...there's no other way to do it. My understanding is that Mercedes finally caved and now will pay half the repair bill, after a lot of legal action and complaints. But it's still a $2,000 repair bill. I'd have a repair like this done by a Mercedes dealer, not a private mechanic. A private mechanic will be cheaper but may not do it correctly and you'll still have timing problems. So for anyone seeing this now, even though the W203 is aging, some people still desire them, so be careful. Ask if the repair has been done. If you find one that's low mileage like the one in the video, be prepared: somewhere between 70k-100k miles your balance shaft WILL FAIL. It's a guarantee, not a maybe. But to end on a positive, I'm a big fan of the C class and love the W204. I enjoyed my W203 aside from the balance shaft issue (and some poor interior quality issues) and also owned a 1987 190E 2.6 liter (straight six). They're great.
Ahem. I just serviced one. Pouring rocker covers, leaking power steering lines, timing chain problems, shocks failing, diff leaking etc. This car has not been abused either.
Just an important FYI on these c230 203 Mercedes Benz. M272 engine serial numbers below “2729..30 468993” and M273 serial numbers below “2739..30 088611” (generally, produced prior to Sept 2006): M272 engines are susceptible to wear in the balance shaft gear, which can cause the right camshaft to go out of time and cause catastrophic engine damage. Preventative repairs are ~$4000. Always check the engines serial number just to be safe. I owned a brand new 2005 C230 Kompressor for nearly 3 years and I loved the car during ownership. I never had an issue with the car and the dealership had an excellent service department. I traded it in 2008 for a BMW Z4. But not once did I regret buying the c230 Kompressor. It was quick, fuel efficient and it had a comfortable quiet cabin ride. I never experienced the buzzy engine noise mentioned.
This guy amuses me to no end, and when it comes time to pull the trigger on another Benz, I think I'm gonna make the trip down to Naples. Good way to avoid all that midwest salt rot anyway.
You know it's because of the USA regulations that your Mercedes Benz's have that horrible beep? In pretty much every other country there is nothing in any car unless you actually drive without your belt, or your service reminder comes up

Hey Bill, it would be interesting to see a review of that red GLK, we didn't get those in the UK. I recently became the owner of a W204 sport, a 220 cdi. It's a fantastic car for the money, loads of torque, high build quality and luxury. Here there isn't much price difference between a late W203 and a 08/09 W204. Enjoy the videos, and like your style!
The C-Class are nice but the S-Class has more comfortable seats and other comforts too; the cheapest is not the best - otherwise they would never sell the more expensive models. That said, a Mercedes Benz is still a Mercedes Benz and I'd take a C-Class over a Chevy any day!
Your absolutely right the best benzes are the cheap ones. I bought a 05 230 Kompressor 3 years ago, with 80 K on it for 1200 ... last month somone offered me 2700 for it.. I turned them down. I don’t envision selling it and I don’t know what I’d replace it with that would be as good, reliable, cheap and be as nice. Thanks for the vid!
how is the car holding up?
@@williamdew7497 Perfectly fine! It's in the garage for the winter, but it hasn't given me any trouble. Because I only put a few thousand on it each year, it only requires a service once a year, which I do in the wall, before I put it away for the winter, so my annual maintenance bill is around $150.
@@tsdelaney great 👍 and thanks!

Got one of these and I love it. Silver with black leather interior… and the S and C mode do make a difference. The cd changer is also a great feature for old schoolers who still love cds. Enough power and features for a budget Benz.

I bought the same color car. It's a 2005 C230 Kompressor. After 21 years all I have ever done is, replace the alternator & the battery. I still have it, and runs like a top.
How many miles in it ?
@@freemindas It has 82,400. Runs like a top.
@@ask4george1 how can it have 82.400 miles after 21 years ? 😅
@@freemindas I am a HVAC Journeyman. I drove the company van home for years. The car was parked so much that I had to buy a new battery from going dead all the time. I daily drive it now, but my job is only 6 miles from home, I've been there 10 years.
I have this exact one. It was made and assembled right in Germany. Even with the low profile tires, it is still the smoothest car I've ever driven. That says a lot, because I've driven Tesla's and Cadillacs as well.
I bought my C320 4matic because of this video the other day. No regrets

This generation of C Class is, in my opinion the most beautiful C class model. From every angle this car look so elegant, balance and amazing. I never get the chance to own one but man...Btw, love those quick witted jokes - warning, imprisonment and execution. And that organ donor driving by is classic!!!
currently, I'm not in the market for a car. however, I do love listening to your, how should I put it, "colorful" reviews. I also get some useful info on different cars for future consideration. Thanks, keep em' comin!

W204 is a good looking car.

Ah this was my first luxury car. Besides its timing knock it worked well. Great memories.
I am still driving a 1990 560SEC with 93K miles that performs beautifully and can still be worked on easily. It is the best car Mercedes ever made.
I had a 190D i wish i still had it.. i do love the hood ornament, it makes it feel more Benzy like... great vid Brother Bill
I bought W204s for both of my kids; was considering W202 & W203 first 😁
bill i been waiting for u to do 1 of these !! btw ur rants are hilarious lol

I love your reviews. Keep them coming. 😁
My wife has a Taxi variant with over 300k miles, still runs great. 🙂
There is nothing more funny in these videos then when a detailer walks/drives by when he is filming.

This guy amuses me to no end, and when it comes time to pull the trigger on another Benz, I think I'm gonna make the trip down to Naples. Good way to avoid all that midwest salt rot anyway.
Another great video - keep up the good work!
You know it's because of the USA regulations that your Mercedes Benz's have that horrible beep? In pretty much every other country there is nothing in any car unless you actually drive without your belt, or your service reminder comes up
It’s a “seatbelt chime”, do other benzes in other countries not have this??!?
@@TransitAndTeslas No they don't. They start to beep if you try to actually drive without the belt.
Formatique arschloch My W203 does start beeping if I drive without one too. Same if passenger.
You can have the mechanic turn that off if he's worth his salt
@@TransitAndTeslas Correct. The U.S. requires a seatbelt chime in every car sold there. Not sure when from but 🤷♂️

It was funny when he even goes of on the seat belt too and the guy that passed with the old s10 and the muffler being loud hahaha
