Great comparison. This video made me come to the conclusion that I'll get the yakima for vehucle attached sprayer AND get one of those pesticide type sprayers for portable use and it doesn't cost anywhere near as much as the WaterPort.

I can't say I've ever seen someone were a watch on each wrist before.

Thanks. Very informative. Been debating the pros and cons of these two for a couple years now. I'm an avid beach/camp guy but don't do the overlanding thing either. I think the portability of the Waterport plus the ease of mounting options (and price!) win me over. Being able to unhook the Waterport, walk it over to the table, and do dishes after camp breakfast are a big plus.

Agreed, the portability is a big plus. Would rather keep my water in the trunk than on the roof when traveling too, better for mpg/wind resistance and handling/center of gravity. The big plus of the RoadShower is durability, metal is just gonna last longer than plastic no matter how you cut it.

I've been going back and forth between the WaterPort and the RoadShower for weeks, but I'm leaning towards the WaterPort for one big reason: refilling. Let's say you've got your RoadShower mounted on the roof and you run out of water. To refill it, you've got to climb up on the roof of your vehicle and lug your water up with you. This is not ideal in situations where you're refilling with natural water sources like lakes or streams. Unless I'm missing something, with the RoadShower you'd need to fill it up at home, drive to your destination with 50+lbs. of water on your roof (not great for center of gravity), and then when it runs out you've either got to get up on a ladder to refill it or wait until you can use a hose. With the WaterPort, you can travel empty (saving on weight) and bring it to any clean freshwater source and dunk it underwater until it's full. Big advantage for anyone looking to boondock or do extended camping trips away from services and amenities.

You can also mount the Yakima RoadShower to the hitch, but you need their Exo system.

Hey Mike, the 4S can be filled much easier that how you showed. Remove the spay gun and attach the female to female connector to your garden hose. Turn on the hose ands open the finger value. The water pressure from the garden hose not only fills the tank but also pressurized the tank. Super fast and easy with no need to remove the rad cap or use a compressor. Enjoy.

Right! That's how its best done. I didn't give it an extra point for that because I do the same with my Waterport.

Metal will be a much better conductor of heat than the plastic version.

How much higher did the tow hitch riser raise the waterport? What issue did you have when it was mounted without the riser and was too low?

      I got this one: amzn.to/3kJ41JC
With my setup, it would otherwise scrape the floor in a lot of driveways.

Doubtful. I’d say no right now. Maybe some parts. And maybe when it wasn’t Yakima (and a small company) before they got bought.

Hey Mike, I’ve heard that there are composites that are out performing metal parts for longevity and toture tests. I know there was a big deal about some archery components that went to composite materials that consumers were complaining that the manufacturer was cutting corners. They argued that the composite parts out performed metal parts. I don’t know if this relates or not. I’m not saying that the water port is more durable. Did you make that claim as to the ruggedness of the Yakima without testing or researching the differences in this application? Just curious. Not trying to throw you under the bus. In some cases the composite can take blunt force impacts that will dent or crack aluminum
