A lot of people get confused of how long the eyes can last. They can actually last quite a while the reason they failed was not only was he using an extremely strong technique he was constantly using them to protect attacks that went faster than time he also got blood from a god a Greek god that doesn’t seem too bad until you realize Greek god blood is extremely poisonous like I mean a human gets it into their system in any way they’ll just die. And a good amount got into his eye making it overheat.
